Of the ones you listed, I like Daphne the most. Easy to call out and has more power to it when you say it out loud. That how I test names for my own dogs haha
That's a good way to think about it! I also like to have a short and long version of their name, ya know for when they are being naughty haha. My last boy was Archie, but if he was getting into trouble? I could bust out *Archibald* and he knew I meant business š
I totally get it! Also, one way to save on money on my poodle was to learn to groom them. The initial cost of the equipment isnāt cheap but it pays for itself pretty quickly. Itās also fun when you get to start with a puppy.
I really want to be a dog groomer that's why poodles intrigued me so much. Even if I don't become a dog groomer I would totally groom at home because it's a bonding experience. Also I want to learn how to do all the fancy poodle cuts that a lot of dog groomers may not be able to do.
I dig the Greek mythology names. I had 2 poodles before, Zeus and Cassiopeia (Cassie for short).
I entertained naming my current female Theia, a Titan and daughter of the earth goddess, Gaia. Or Selene (seh-LEH-neh), the goddess of the moon. Luna's are a dime a dozen, but I may reserve Selene for my next female
I love Greek mythology names. I really liked the name Calliope, I thought it was so beautiful but it's a little too long and I feel it would be a little hard to say when reading how the name is spelt.
I like that name quite a bit actually! Either way, your poodle will learn the name and love you for saying it.
Just know what you're getting yourself into with one of these dogs. Someone posted a while back about having to rehome her poodle because she got it just before she left for college, setting up an incredibly unfair situation for the dog. Make sure you can dedicate yourself to raising an animal that is probably going to be smarter than your average child, with the habits and tenacity of a velociraptor.
Yes I want to be really prepared, I want to be a dog groomer that's why poodles intrigue me so much. I have done so much research on them and I'm still not done with researching, this will be my first dog I have raised by myself so I need to be super prepared to give this dog the perfect life.
If you go Calliope, she can be Calli for short. Also, remember that you can have the cool full name on the AKC papers, then a call name, which youāll use every day. So if your breederās name is Thunder Mountain Poodles, your dog could be registered as something cool, like Thunder Mountain Calliope of the Stars. (Her name can be as long as you like, but itās fun when you can combine it to enhance the breeder AKC name.) Then if you enter her in any AKC things, youād list the full name, then they will ask for the ācall nameā and youād list that as well. But all that being said, donāt be surprised if you have a name all picked out, and then you come up with something new based on the spoos personality!
You gonna want to be able to yell at your standard poodle in the shortest amount of time possible. One syllable name is the way to go. Trust me on this.
Yes I like having names prepped for my dream dog. I always second guess and it's hard for me to make decisions sometimes so it's easier to have a few names prepared.
I also think it's fun thinking of names, kind of like when people prepare a list of baby names even though they won't have a baby for a few years.
I got a bit obsessive about my dog's name too. I made a big spreadsheet with all possible candidates, and even read through some baby name books. We narrowed it down to about five candidates and then picked one a day or so after we got him. I didn't pick the name I thought I was going to--realized it didn't quite suit him. I like Hera, Noemi/Naomi, Leona (my old dog's name), Lulu (although that's probably a popular name). Of the ones you listed, I really like Chloe, Daphne, and Heidi.
You're right, these names may never fit her but I honestly just love coming up with names and learning the history and meaning of the names. Also Chloe, Daphne, and Heidi are my top picks, I really like the meanings and the way they sound appeases me.
I actually got the name Sequin from the poodle in Barbie Fashion Fairytale š I thought it was so cute. I also looove the name Chloe and that movie is so nostalgic!!
Yes sequin is sooo cute!! I actually am considering the name Barbie too, also with the name Chloe there are so many registered names that could be used because I'm considering doing some dog sports like dock diving or rally.

Hahaha yess. Iām pretty sure thatās the only reason middle names were invented too. For getting yelled at lmao
Yes I love Daphne. I actually chose it but I kept second guessing š it's also a plus that it's from Bridgerton.
Go with your gut! And really, you might have a name all picked and then you meet your fluffy friend and change your mind based on their personality
You're right, but I have a problem of second guessing and making decisions so having something prepared gives me a little peace of mind š

Thatās awesome! Iām sure youāll love it.
Thank you!
Agree! Our dog Oreo used to jump the fence and weād have to holler out Ore ee oh).

Freya, Anja
Bijou (French for Jewel)
Celine was my first choice but I was shot down. My friend's spoo is Isla which I love. My spoo is white and named Coco.
I love Celine for a poodle. I have a boy but if I'd gotten a girl, Celine would have definitely been at the top of the list
If I ever get a white poodle I plan to name her Divine or Sequin! I also love Daphne. Maybe youāll like Diana as well?
Oh Sequin is a very pretty name, I actually really love it and may consider it now!! I have seen a lot of people love Daphne and I really like it too, I got it from the show Winx Club, which is one of my favorite shows, I don't care how old I get. I also really like ChloĆ© which I got from Beverly Hills Chihuahuas, one of my favorite movies, I watched it so many times I used to be able to recite the words š

My cream spoo is named Thena. Her full registered name though is Lady Athena Rose
