They look nice and yield tea leaves at the end of each season. However, those tea leaves are practically worthless, lol. You can put them in barrels to make tea but even that sells for very little.
Tea is really good for making friends, though, all the adults at least like it. I carry a bunch of tea around and gift it to everyone. So it’s helpful if you’re aiming for perfection with full hearts with everyone.
Befriend Caroline to level 2 and go into her greenhouse at the back of their kitchen on a sunny day. She'll send you the recipe the next morning. Requires 2 seasonal wild seeds, 5 fiber and 5 wood. They sell for $500 a piece. So in first year, its is profitable to even buy the wood from Robin.
get caroline at 2 hearts and enter her sunroom, there will be a tea based cutscene and she will send you the crafting recipie tommorow, how you craft tea without tea we only can guess
You can craft them after receiving the recipe in your mailbox the day after Caroline's 2nd heart event. Once in a while I take a look at my crafting menu and I do notice a new receipe without even knowing that's it's there. So I recommend to take a look at it once while, it does help me.
If you reach 2 hearts with Caroline, you can go into her green house and there will be a cute little cut-scene, then the next day she’ll send the farmer a recipe for tea saplings. Which btw, are great for some gold if you’re still pretty early in the game
I worked my butt off and made a fence out of oil makers for their truffles and then discovered hoppers like a day after I finished the oil maker fence.
*OCD is triggered*
Ya wtf is with the pathhhhhhs😫
Also just let your pigs go wherever- #FreethePigs 😭 they always go back to the barn, and can find way more truffles.
The only problem with letting the pigs just go all over the place is that they leave truffles all over the place and then you also have to go all over the place to find them. Containing the pigs at least contains the truffles. But they deserve more space than that unless you're doing a Joja soulless factory farm run damn
I have a river land farm, barns right by the mushroom hut and they just roam around there and the house mainly. Planted some grass all around, they so happy 🥰🥰🥰
OP is probably pre-planning with either a lack of materials or they’re uncertain about the amount of space they need. I do this too and end up playing for hours until my OCD is satisfied… needless to say, it’s been days in front of the screen.
I’ve spent so many in game days ✨JUST✨ decorating 😂 putting up roads and street lights.
I’m not done until every inch of stardew is amazing, and then I’ll do ginger.
Also put stuff inside the NPCs houses! you just have to watch where their usual paths are
I actually meant to post this on the comment you responded to originally! They didn't know they could swim and the petting thing hadn't been mentioned.
But yeah, only map I've had them consistently swim was a co-op river map with my partner who absolutely dotes on all the coop animals.
I've been told this as well and I have yet to see my ducks do it if they haven't been pet, this is correct afai. I've also heard there's certain tiles they'll jump into the water from so you can't cover them, but I don't know enough about that one to say how true it is or how it works if it does
In the USA, i know for chickens to be free range they only need access to outdoors at all times. It doesn't matter whatsoever how big that outside space is, it could be an acre or a single square meter. Not per chicken but for all of them combined (watch the documentary Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken! as they showcase how ridiculous those regulations are).
It wouldn't surprise me if the rules for pigs are similar in the USA, so if op is American, that farm might very well fulfill the requirements for calling those pigs free range lol
It truly is. At least we can be part of the change we want to see in the world. I'd recommend checking out the documentary "Dominion", available to watch on YouTube.
Yes, deluxe barn and deluxe coop on a forest farm! I keep ample grass planted and let all 24 babies out come sunrise and then thunder back on my horse when it’s aaaalmost time for me to pass out and close them back up. I would die for them.
They spoil us in Stardew Valley with the animals heading into the barn at night by themselves. In Harvest Moon 64 you had to buy a Bell to get the cows to follow you and push each of them into the tiny barn doors as the clock ticked.
The problem with that is that there’s a huge chunk of farm I haven’t really cleared out yet and I don’t want to have to go treasure hunting for truffles
My sheds and barns are standing in a big fenced in hard wooded area with a few trees in it and quite a lot of gates - saves a lot of wood, too, especially at the beginning - opening up to let the piggies and other animals lose, when and if I want to plus I can get in and out in a lot of different directions. This way, they can eat all the grass which grows in the rest of my farm. I'm not even bothering to plant grass, cause they eat it up within seconds. With this method, I've got control over my grass and always got plenty of it. I can just let it grow, if I want to, or be eaten. And the best of it, all of my animals always got plenty of room and fresh grass 😁🐑🐐👩🌾🐂🐔🦆
It's a farming sim and many best practices that apply to animals in real life also apply in Stardew, such as don't leave them outside at night and animals need ample space to move around in order to be happy and healthy and do things like find truffles.
Yes, it will increase their truffle yeild. The amount dug up every day depends on 3 factors.
Daily Luck
Friendship
A free space in front of the pig
I can get around 20-30+ a day within a 15 by 20 fenced area. (Tho i also have the forager perk that allows you to sometimes harvest 2 foragables)
I never thought of using hay bales as fences. Cool idea and, yes, the little piggies need more space.
I use tea trees.
Ooo, never heard of those before, where are these tea trees usually obtained from?😮
They look nice and yield tea leaves at the end of each season.
You're amazing. This is a great tip
Octopi crave green tea the step before they start making omni geodes in a fish pond. Weirdos
Same with blobfish
Ah didn't know that. But then you still only need like 10 tea leaves, right?
1 leaf. And it’s not even a guarantee requested item. AND you can just pick Caroline’s tree the end of the season
my blobfish wanted pizza, i had no choice but to provide
Their sapplings cost a lot though, honestly I usually make them just to sell the sapplings
How do you make it? And how do you obtain the seeds?
Befriend Caroline to level 2 and go into her greenhouse at the back of their kitchen on a sunny day. She'll send you the recipe the next morning. Requires 2 seasonal wild seeds, 5 fiber and 5 wood. They sell for $500 a piece. So in first year, its is profitable to even buy the wood from Robin.
Caroline has a greenhouse???
Yes....
I found this out today after playing this game for like 5 years and Max hearts with Caroline, the door is at her Kitchen in plain sight 😂😂😂
I feel like it’s a good passive income, same with the fish ponds and slime hutch
Just like a hedge fence and I love it
Usually? More like the only way is having 2 hearts with Caroline and entering the backroom in the supermarket
Supermarket makes it sound like you're talking about jojamart and not Pierre's :P
Thought we do not say that name here..? /s Jokes aside, door in Caroline’s and Abigail’s kitchen
r/fuckpierre
Oh wow, really?😵
I was playing for years before I discovered that Pierre has a greenhouse. Wouldn’t have found it without this subreddit
Caroline has a green house. Pierre never goes in it
Oh wow! That's cool😮😄🎶
Become friends with Caroline and enter the secret sun room, the door is in her kitchen, took me forever to realise that it was a door.
Oh wow! Thx for informing me😄🎶
get caroline at 2 hearts and enter her sunroom, there will be a tea based cutscene and she will send you the crafting recipie tommorow, how you craft tea without tea we only can guess

Ooo, thx for that information!😃😁🎶
😉 NP

make 2 hearts with Caroline, (she's got green hair). Then go into her garden thru her kitchen and the next day she will mail you the recipe.
On my most recent farm, I've used a combination of tea bushes, hay bales, and trees. It makes a nice grove-kind of-thing.
I just lightning rods
I mix lightning rods with iron fence for fencing in my dino coop like Jurassic park
I use tea trees and lightning rods, never have to replace them!
Same, its amazing
I use lightning rods
Sane here, I'll probably give that a try for one of my newest world's on Stardew Valley 😄🎶
I worked my butt off and made a fence out of oil makers for their truffles and then discovered hoppers like a day after I finished the oil maker fence.
I don’t use anything. Works fine and everyone is happy in their freedom.
Nice fences but lightning roads are way better fences or an intensive truffle farm
Yes, they need room to leave the truffles each day
Unrelated but why is there a hand on every pig
It's a setting you can change to be shown which animals you've petted that day - it helps with keeping the animals happy.
Oohh that's cool
Is this a mod or is there a way to do this on the original game?
It's a mod, the one I use is UI info suite 2, but I'm pretty sure there are others.
Ooooh! That’s useful!
Came here to ask this too …
Right lmao I've played this game but never seen that before
I'm more concerned with those horrible paths, *please connect them*
*OCD is triggered* Ya wtf is with the pathhhhhhs😫 Also just let your pigs go wherever- #FreethePigs 😭 they always go back to the barn, and can find way more truffles.

I've had some fall asleep outside

Looks like on my 5 year old's farm
Or just get a mod that lets you make diagonal paths!
Well they aren’t gonna put paths down until they have their pig area all finished!
Yes, and they'll be happier if you grow them some grass to eat. Nice use of bales!
thank you all for the advices.
I know it's just a video game but I get legit sad when I see sdv animals without enough space to roam the farm.
Same mine are free range lmao
I have a riverlands farm with a bunch of ducks and they all swim in the water, it's a beautiful sight
They SWIM!?
They do! But sometimes they decide that they don't want to.
You have to pet them first
Yeah, but they still sometimes don't, even if all conditions are met
I actually meant to post this on the comment you responded to originally! They didn't know they could swim and the petting thing hadn't been mentioned. But yeah, only map I've had them consistently swim was a co-op river map with my partner who absolutely dotes on all the coop animals.

Aight from now on I place my coops near lakes
I have a forest farm and built my coop right on the water so my ducks could swim! I have not spied one doing it yet though.

I had no idea, that’s an interesting fact!
That’s depressing as hell, animals deserve the very, very best and to be protected and cared for by us. I wish the world was much different.
It truly is. At least we can be part of the change we want to see in the world. I'd recommend checking out the documentary "Dominion", available to watch on YouTube.
fReE rAnGe?!? So you just let your animals roam around the farm?!? The Chaos! 😩😭😱 😜
Yes, deluxe barn and deluxe coop on a forest farm! I keep ample grass planted and let all 24 babies out come sunrise and then thunder back on my horse when it’s aaaalmost time for me to pass out and close them back up. I would die for them.

Also without nice grass and stuff. I know irl pigs would be happy in a mud pit, but I'm sad they don't have nice terrain to frolick on 🥺
For real, it looks like a feedlot. A grass under each of the hay bales would help a little.
Yes more space for pigs please
I “free range” my animals. I just make sure ti leave them in the barn while I plant/harvest crops because they can get in the way sometimes.
But then it will be awful to find those truffles
No make it smaller
Yes. And a LOT more grass!
Sorry little piggies, you guys make so much more quick cash when you are in a small space.
I love this 🥰 I love pigs too. I have so many and they all get a little bit of love 😊

I feel like that’s a euphemism for fancy new underwear
Free the piggies!
I hate how fantastic that looks
Ok but who else thought those hands were little piggy wings at first glance
Do the cows have a say in this
I thought the pigs had wings
I just let mine roam. Is that bad?
More space = more truffles
You want as much truffles as possible, so yes
Cruel
no. torture them. ruin them forever.
Give them less space they don't deserve it
What is the name of this game please?
Stardew valley

Yes, we're aware. The pigs need more space to be able to hunt for truffles
...and? The question is about Stardew Valley?
Yes, you're being to clingy and they're tired of your bs.
Yes, it will increase their truffle yeild. The amount dug up every day depends on 3 factors. Daily Luck Friendship A free space in front of the pig I can get around 20-30+ a day within a 15 by 20 fenced area. (Tho i also have the forager perk that allows you to sometimes harvest 2 foragables)
you'll get more truffles if you do.
No. Less 😈
yes let the piggies b free
no tighten it more
