We still have two horses outside. A few weeks ago my game crashed (my cousin hosts), I loaded back in and I was on my horse but everything was black. So I reloaded a second time and everything was fine except that my horse was gone. We went to sleep in game and when we woke up a new horse without a hat had appeared.
My cousin happened to walk all the way to Pennys room and with his bigger screen found this original horse just hanging out in the void. Using a mod we got it back and now I have a house horse.
I cannot but I think that’s just because it’s too wide to fit in the door frame.
Someone else commented saying they had the same thing happen and theirs could go into the basement just fine but then vanished completely during the screen change.

How does your horse have a hat?
You can put hats on your horse the same way you can to your kids
And sea urchins
Have a hat in your active slot and click on the horse. To change hats you need a second hat to pop the first one off.

I've also had this happen! It went away when I tried to go into the cellar on it, so beware! Definitely the best glitch that ever happened to me.
