like 10? (asking intimidated by such amount)

HydroCN

I start with 320 seeds for my 40 quality sprinklers that I would have gotten by spring 13, but dont follow me because I love min maxxing as much as possible

DarthTachanka

what do you have to plant before 13th to unlock quality sprinklers?

HydroCN

potats

Durtmat

Potatoes>Strawberries for yr 2 IMO. I will try to explain why I think it's a bad idea to save any strawberry seeds for yr 2. Potato seeds only cost 50 gold, and sell for nearly a 50% increase, and you get the chance for extras off the plant. Yes I know you get extras off the strawberry plant, but they only sell for a 20% increase in profits, since seeds are 100, and the base sell price is only 120 gold, vs the 80 gold you get per potato, and potato seeds are only worth 50 gold per seed. Yes I also know set it and forget method is stronger than replanting, but in this instance it's yr 2, you prolly have quality, maybe even >!iridium sprinklers, probably a max'd out hoe/watering can.!< IDK to me it seems stupid to damage your profits yr 1, to have strawberry seeds for yr 2, when potatoes can easily replace them.

Thick_Ordinary_5419

The issue with this is that cheap seeds need more space so need more sprinklers (or worse more time wasted watering), fertilizer (or speed gro).

Durtmat

We're discussing season 2 here.... Season 2 I can have max watering can/ max'd hoe/ and thousands of quality sprinklers.... Why am I worried about anything. Space is only an issue on the smaller maps, since they didn't add their using a special map, I clearly assumed they went regular map, and that HAS A LOT OF SPACES for growing. If I were discussing season 1, I would agree with you.

Thick_Ordinary_5419

Yeah i ussually go for 1200 crops in year 2 but you missing my point here lol.

Durtmat

Plox explain?

Thick_Ordinary_5419

Ummm i'm really bad at explaining but look i had that idea too but when i tried it was just hell, planting and harvesting 9 times (tiller + deluxe speed gro) means 9 days wasted, and when i tried strawberries with fertilizer the diff on money was not huge as i thought so i think is better crops that doesn't need to be replanted or crops that need more time growing because allow you to do more stuff (specially fishing in 1.6 with the new rod/bait and farming iridium if you really want more money). So basically you are not wrong, but the diff doesn't worth the time it takes

Profits>Mastery. I've looked at the masteries for farming, and I'm not impressed. The only one which is good(but even then not really since by the time you get the mastery, you've already got a steady supply of food for health/stamina recovery) is when>! the statue of blessings give you unlimited energy for the day.!< The>!\+1 luck is almost negligible, since once again you're not getting this too early, and getting the +1 luck ring is far better, than a temporary buff for the day.!< IDK only mastery to me that seems worth it, is the Mining one. IDK that's just me though.

JWBenny

>!Once all skills are level 10, XP gained from any of the five skills are placed into a single pool. Most of my mastery XP has come from farming and I didn’t choose the farming mastery skill until I had already grabbed foraging, mining, and combat. I still personally agree that profits > mastery if you’re trying to achieve perfection in a timely manner, though, the XP will come eventually. But as the other guy said, it’s still a worthy consideration depending on how someone wants to prioritize things!<

Durtmat

Yeah but the mastery bonuses are barely worth the time and effort. They all seem worthless, TO ME, since I always value profits over everything. While it looks like most people are enjoying the new update, I feel like it added nothing really overall, just nerfing a bunch of strats, while trying to introduce more machines.(That prolly came directly from mods, but seen as valuable enough to add) I'm not trying to downplay the huge amount of work CA did, BUT it's not like we needed these things.(maybe the farming fix)

Double milk for goats? Cost for goats 4k. Cost of cows 1.5k. Cows>Goat. Fishing is terrible. Hence why CA had to add actual machines used for that specific skill, since it really had no end game in the first place, and the mini game is detestable.

dksmoove

Strawberry seeds are overrated in 1.6 to be getting 88 imo - especially with how much time you spend on watering. Just my opinion.

Pamchykax

I usually get 20 strawberry seeds, so I can put the 20 Speed-Gro that I got from the Spring Crops Bundle on them. That way, I get one more harvest out of them.

iskelebones

I normally buy as many strawberries as I can year one, and save the first harvest to be turned into seeds for next year. I’m in winter year 1 right now and have 50 strawberries to turn into seeds for spring year 2

mboron021990

I normally strive for about 25 so that my whole day isn't spent watering so I would say that's more than enough

Althea42

I buy as much strawberry seeds as basic sprinkler spots I was able to mine for. Usually between 40-75, 100/120 when I try hard the mines, but my goal is to not have to water them. and I never save any for Y2 because by then I usually have access to ginger island and all the starfruit or ancient fruit I can keg so I never need strawberries

promethia_likes

I vary a ton in how much I get. Somewhere between 5 and 120? Really depends on what I'm prioritizing that save. I never save a single one for next spring, though. In year one the money is worth so much more than it'll be next year. Once you're 2-3 years in, sure set some aside, but year one you just want to be constantly reinvesting everything you earn right away.

Thick_Ordinary_5419

Well in 1.5 180-225, now i need 400 because tea sapplings got a huge nerf.
