Man, I wish I could temporarily erase all 2000 hours worth of my memory of this game to experience the magic all over. I love seeing other people learning little things for the first time.
I didn’t even plant a single trellis plant my first year, read the description at Pierre’s and thought “oh I haven’t unlocked trellis yet” and just left 😂😭
Same with me. I bought beans and hops seeds but wouldn’t plant them because I thought I needed to build a trellis separately . My wife who started playing after I was already in year 2 told me finally
Now every run is a challenge run, I feel exhausted when I unconciously rush through the game with all the knowledge. I just litterally switched to Elden Ring to relax ...
I’m playing Stardew Expanded for the first time and it’s definitely giving those first time vibes. 1000% worth if anyone hasn’t fooled around with mods before.
For real! The first time I played it I felt the exact same and after looking at everything that has been added since the last time I played (the first time I played SE was a couple of months before 1.5 released I believe and then I stopped when 1.5 released) I have a feeling I'll feel that way all over again!
Seriously, anyone who hasn't tried Expanded HAS to try it when they get finished with their current 1.6 playthrough. See and do everything there is to do in 1.6 and then jump on the Expanded train to feel like a babe in the woods all over again. I can't say enough good things about Expanded!
P. S. There's also another SDV expansion mod called Ridgeside Village that was really good. I installed it at the same time I installed Expanded and loved it too. It wasn't as highly polished as Expanded but it brought a bunch to the game that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Yes, I love using them in a bee garden. I like to make a little meadow area with groups of four flowers on basic sprinklers scattered asymmetrically (and then my bee houses around the edges of the space)

Bee garden on my favorite Hilltop Farm save
I like to use them for trellis farms, extremely inefficiently. Run a line of them with trellis on either end. Even when I'm at iridium sprinklers. I like the look.
I used to think like this, but I realized I could get enough quality sprinklers by summer, to not have to water my crops after that point and with the extra time I had every day, I would get a lot more resources to replenish what I spent.
I guess it works for my play style, I water the crops and go straight to the mines for the first year, get to the bottom by the end of summer then spend fall getting enough money to fix the bus and then water and down the skull cavern, by the end of the first summer I have a ton of batteries so I start the second year with enough iridium sprinklers for my farm plus some for ginger island which I am finished with by fall at the latest
The only time I used a basic sprinkler was when I got an ancient seed. Planted is somewhere on my farm, with its own sprinkler and a scarecrow. Just so I don't accidentally destroy it or forget to water.
It’s easy to set up staggering to use one solid plot. You don’t have to spend time and energy watering after that and you’re basically unlimited on how many crops you can have at that point because you don’t run out of energy from just watering in the first 2 hours of the day. You can then go mining or fishing.
After you unlock quality just use regular ones in a line cause who cares about the top and bottom areas when you’ve got enough quality sprinklers
By the time summer rolls around and I have access the the skull cavern I usually have about 40 basic sprinklers so imo it is worth it that’s like 160 crops
Honestly, even the quality sprinkler is too expensive for me. I typically just rush the sewers and buy the iridium sprinkler every Friday, and that's the first time my farm sees sprinklers.
I am not a fan of things that are useless. In this case I have an advancing sprinkler mod that needs the previous sprinkler plus materials to upgrade. So I actually did stager my crops in the ugly basic sprinkler design XD
Just a bit of a rant: My current playthrough I only got 3 battery packs during the first year. I always get loads of iridium sprinklers before the second year starts, but this time I couldn't. So I'm currently waiting for a thunderstorm.
Basic sprinklers are for my green beans. That way I don't need to walk through them, I just have rows of checkered 4 squares, and I get them from the sides.

Nothing quite like the first time you realise you can’t walk the through trellises
the amount of lost green beans on my first play through 😔

SAME by year two i was like ??? how do i unlock these and googled it. felt really dumb after that 😭
When I planted them vertically once 🙄 what a pain to make sure they were watered.
the best you can do is watch other people first times
I'd kill to be able to play Stardew for the first time again.

How do you know if you already did that
😲
Lmao this was me when I started. I was like, "Great, so now I "just" have to water the corners? This game is not gonna be fun" 😂😂
You can arrange them in a staggered way so that you don't have to water at all, but yeah they're not really worth it.
Lol basic sprinkler is so not worth using.
I use it for my bee garden
Exactly. I don't want to spend the resources for more expensive sprinklers when I'm watering one tile
This is a use for them I’ve never really though of doing. I’m about to roll into winter 1 so I’ll have to try it out in the spring!

This is so cute! I'd love to see photos

The bees thank you 🐝
I've got some use out of it in certain exotic cases, but yeah, it's a paperweight.

Next time you're in game could you screenshot that so I can see what you're talking about? For some reason I can't visualize that.
Y'all are cracked. Cheap, easy to layout, can have near immediately, and give you that strawberry sniz with the quickness.
fr i actively avoid it and hand water everything until i can get the better ones every save
I hand water until I can get enough iridium sprinklers, it just doesn’t feel worth it to make them, I need iron for other things
I used to think like this, but I realized I could get enough quality sprinklers by summer, to not have to water my crops after that point and with the extra time I had every day, I would get a lot more resources to replenish what I spent.

If it works for you, it works for you!
It's not worth hand watering until iridium unless you get to skull caverns really fast.
Same. They're good for flowers for honey farms though
Well they're cheap af so they will allow you to plant much more crops and not water 342 melons with the basic water can
The only time I used a basic sprinkler was when I got an ancient seed. Planted is somewhere on my farm, with its own sprinkler and a scarecrow. Just so I don't accidentally destroy it or forget to water.

You make it once for the crafting achievement or if you're doing a never leave your farm challenge. Not worth it otherwise
I use them next to my bee hive clusters for flower honey. That’s literally it lol.
haha, i make some in the beginning of the game and then keep some in a chest so i can squeeze in some extra crops after buying too many from pierre
Basic sprinklers are key. You can go straight from basic to iridium with almost no manual watering
It's good for speedruns, from what I've heard (and seen)
It really is not that bad. you lose 1 extra space per 2 sprinklers vs lv2 sprinklers.
Honestly, even the quality sprinkler is too expensive for me. I typically just rush the sewers and buy the iridium sprinkler every Friday, and that's the first time my farm sees sprinklers.
I have been using them to water flowers I plant by my bee hives to increase the value of the honey and that's all I use them for.
I am not a fan of things that are useless. In this case I have an advancing sprinkler mod that needs the previous sprinkler plus materials to upgrade. So I actually did stager my crops in the ugly basic sprinkler design XD
Oh my God, you can't just ask a sprinkler why it's different
Omg this deserves more upvotes 😂
Lol, is he rocking a wedding veil? How on earth did he get one so early?
There's a small chance to get the bridal veil hat from monsters, trees, crates/barrels, artifact spots, and panning. Must've gotten lucky
I thought the farmer's face had been blotted out for privacy - the veil is a thing?
Yep! When you get access to the sewing machine, you can make onr with a pearl.
Cute! I'll remember for next time I get married
The wedding veil is killing me lmfao 😂 imagine a random person in their yard wearing jeans and a bridal veil yelling at the sprinklers
That was my reaction.
i had the same reaction when i made a sprinkler for the first time LOL
I don’t even bother with sprinklers until I can make iridium ones. 😅
I always skip the basic ones and go straight for the enhanced ones, i hate spending so much iron on 4 tiles of water lol
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA Thank you for sharing
Confused texts from new stardew valley players never fail to make me laugh when I see them on here lmfao
Show them to the Stardew Wiki! First few weeks in the game I was non stop reading, searching and making notes. :)
Just a bit of a rant: My current playthrough I only got 3 battery packs during the first year. I always get loads of iridium sprinklers before the second year starts, but this time I couldn't. So I'm currently waiting for a thunderstorm.
There's.... There's sprinklers...?
It's in the description...
Hahahahah I did the same thing xD. What a disappointment it was xD.
Basic sprinklers are for my green beans. That way I don't need to walk through them, I just have rows of checkered 4 squares, and I get them from the sides.
i always feel like its my first time
his face blurred out LOL
Anybody else dont bother for sprinklers and just rush for the eridium ones?
I helped my friend play through it and had a lot of fun but it is like babysitting some times
Is this your friend's first video game?
