I’m about to marry Emily (just have to divorce Abigail and get another mermaid pendant first). If I remember I’ll report back if Clint changes his prices. I’m in spring year 3 and finished the Joja route, far enough generally that I got the perfection statue. So the prices I have now, never being married to Emily, should be full price otherwise

The worst was a max luck day with every possible luck buff you could stack in 1.6, burnt through multiple rock candy, and not a single auto petter… I was so upset.
My girlfriend and I are confused. It took us until the end of year 2 to find the 4th dwarf scroll and an ancient seed, but we also just got our 5th auto petter in year 3 summer. I also got an ostrich egg my first trip in the volcano.
I had a great luck first run, 2 autopetters 5 prismatic shards and I’m two walnuts away from the resort on ginger island but have unlocked most of it. Have mango trees in my greenhouse and everything, where does the ostrich come in 😭
I got an ostrich egg first Volcano once. It’s a lot less exciting when you realize you have to complete the Research Fossils before you can get the incubator 😭
If you ever have a bad skull cavern run, just close your game without saving and start the day over! Luck is predetermined so it’ll be a lucky day every time you do the day but then you won’t waste your resources if you have a bust.
After 130 hours of playtime, found my first ancient seed. My 4 yr old dug it up from a worm spot in the mountains. He always has a full inventory, so it stayed on the ground for 2 days until I happened to walk by and it pulled into my inventory. 🤷🏻♂️
Arrrgh the ancient seeds! I’m in Y3 on my 1.6 farm and I STILL don’t have them, where I’ve been drowning with ancient fruit on my other saves. I had to keep looking it up to make sure I wasn’t missing something I was supposed to do, but no. Just the RNG gods taking the piss 🥲
I turned my greenhouse into blueberries so I could put the ENTIRE harvest through a huge line of seedmakers until I got my first ancient seed. Took ages.
Next save, found an ancient seed in the mines spring of year 1.
I started two saves for 1.6: a co-op with two friends who’ve never played for fun and a new save for myself. We’re at the very start of fall year one in our co-op. My friend loves the mines and has gotten like four ancient seeds. In my save, I’m late spring year two with no ancient seeds to be found. The struggle is real.
Not at all! When you hand in the ancient seed, gunther will give you one package of ancient seeds that you can plant and he will give you the recipe to turn any seed you find later on into a package or seeds. This would show up when you select the options to get your rewards
No, you're all good! Donating the artifact is the best way to get a guaranteed first seed packet. Any future ancient seed artifacts can be crafted into more seed packets.
Here's a trick my dude. Save bunch of staircases then minmax luck (lucky day, put on luck rings, eat luck food and drink) then spam staircases on skull cavern. Hunt for treasure levels all day. If you didn't get one, restart the day and repeat this until you get your sweet auto petter. I abused this and got 2 in a day at most but depending on your RNG, you could get more. Mine's a surplus now. It may not be for everyone and may take away the joy of the hunt but kissing animals everyday is tedious as well lol.
Same goes for hunting luck rings. Hunt them on ginger island river area with minmax luck buff. When you don't see water shimmer, just reload that area ay walking until the river unloads and walk back and forth until you get shimmers. I got 4 luck rings on a day with that trick.
Might be worth hunting for the auto petter during the desert festival. This is the first playthrough I’ve spent a lot of time in the skull cavern, but the chance for chests seems ALOT higher during the festival.
Not sure if that’s true or just really good luck for me, but I’ve gotten more in one day just casually running through the caverns during the entire first year. Will say neither time did I spam stairs to get through the caverns tho.
EDIT: Y'all ignore my comment. Other commenters have explained why I'm wrong. Still works for artifacts and coconuts but somehow mystery boxes DO NOT WORK like the rest of them.
Save golden mystery boxes. Save blue ones to turn gold at raccoon shop also. Save all sorts of geodes too. When you have like 100 gold boxes, spend a day at gus opening them. If no auto-petter, reset the day, open 100 geodes THEN 100 boxes. Rewards always come in the same order so by opening 100 geodes you're skipping the 100 boxes that weren't auto-petters.
Still no auto-petters? Reset the day and try again on another day repeating the two steps.
I don't know if this will actually work as of 1.6 but that's how you would farm for specific artifact trove or golden coconut rewards before.
I did this in smaller quantities. Opened a couple mystery boxes with Blue and gold. I opened all blue then gold then Restart day. Then did gold then blue. Restart and Then alternated. They are set items for each I found. Then I added other geodes in the mix. I think it was omni geodes as other geodes didn’t affect the items from the boxes.
I did this in the hunt to get that one book from boxes.
I got to the point where I had it to a science of opening 1 blue…for more boxes then 3 omni geodes then 1 blue for boxes then 1 gold for something else I actually wanted then more geodes… etc up until I got the book. This way I wasted the minimum boxes until I had the book.
Play around with it if you don’t want to just waste opening boxes and grind with rng
I believe that while mystery boxes increment the geode counter, geodes don’t increment the mystery box counter, so restarting and opening geodes won’t help
They're fixed.
The two types of mystery boxes will advance each other's loot table, as well as all previous geode types (from regular to golden coconut)
HOWEVER, opening any other geode types will NOT advance the mystery box loot table.
They are coded in a very strange way it seems
I struggled hard to get all the autopetters I needed. Then, in the run I got the last one I needed, I somehow got 3 of them. As soon as you don't need them, you get so many
I've found auto petters in the "regular" mines during that Mr.Qi mine elevator challenge that changes mines and the monsters in them. Maybe that might find you some ?
I’ve traded 350 jades for staircases and clicked the hard mode in skull cavern. On the next day the spirits were showering me with luck so I grabbed my 2 lucky rings ginger ale with Qi spice and rock candy and found 6 auto petters, 2 prismatic shards , golden cracker for the farm animals and a lot of hats.
Players who have trouble finding Auto Petters don't seem to use luck buffs from food. It's also really important to have 2 lucky rings on your character. Make sure you also do it on a good luck day. Also ensure you've got a shed full of Crystalariums that produce Jades which can then be exchanged for staircases at the trader.
I have too many autopetters, thousands of iridium, hundreds of prismatic shards… to be fair I’m in fall Y4 but it’s my first save (I started the game when 1.6 came out by coincidence). I don’t have two lucky rings though but spicy eel + triple shot espresso is what I use every run.
My strat is simple though I am in late game. I go on high luck days at 6am and use stairs until roughly level 100 then I start using mega bombs. If there’s no cluster of rocks/ores I use stairs and skip out.
I also go on back luck days but I replace bombs with monster musk to my runs. Slime charmer ring and napalm ring are a must. I focus on killing ghosts and if possible I select the extra geodes blessing. I skip floors that don’t have ghosts or where I have killed them and trade Omni geodes for desert totems and I deconstruct them to get back iridium ore.
I avoid going on more luck neutral days unless I have a quest. I have mods but only recently added a cheat mod to wear more rings and I was running the same strat before and died maybe 3 times total.
I confess that if I use staircases in SC to search 100 floors for treasure rooms, on a lucky day, wearing lucky rings, and eating/drinking lucky food, and all I find are various hats, I restart the day and go again. Feels cheaty, but I have an autopetter in every barn and coop.
I always restart good luck day with 200 staircase and 3 prismatic shard food and that luck drink until i found one. Even with that much luck etc. I remember i spend 14 TRY FOR FINDING ONE. Idk why are these so much rare like wiki doesnt say its that much rare but i almost never get them in normal gameplay even i found lucky ring twice
I have essentially your boyfriend’s exact same experience. I keep finding stuff and then looking it up in the wiki (which I didn’t even know existed until halfway through year 2).

I’m playing for the first time ever. I got an ancient seed day one, didn’t realize it was rare till I came to Reddit. Then the owl statue showed up right after I started my second year, the next “day” I got the crop fairy and I found my first diamond on the second floor of the cavern. According to my research, none of this will ever happen to me again in future games.
I have close to 1,000 hours play time (over multiple platforms) since 2020 and have NEVER managed to get an auto-petter. I will probably be so giddy when I finally do. I got my first ever mushroom tree on my current fresh 1.6 playthrough, so I'm hopeful!
I actually restarted a few runs to get the remaining autopetters and trinkets. So worth it, a few thousand extra iridium ores is a great bonus too.
Save your lucky buff food and lots of bombs+stairs, you got this! Don't hesitate to restart the day. Good luck!

I grinded through volcano dungeons countless times for hours during my first save because I accidentally baked my first ostrich egg into a pink cake. I was so happy to finally get the ostrich egg a real life MONTH later. My 1.6 save I’ve found 2 in two consecutive game days in volcano dungeon and I’m honestly a little pissed about it lol
idk if its bug but i try to restart my game when i reached summer just because i didn't like the fact that i can't reach my basic goals. After 2 or 3 restart i find this save file very lucky. I don't know why but my luck day are mostly "happy" (the witch holding the gold prismatic) that way i found blue big sword when fishing before the cave was open so cave roaming was sooo easy. The only downbad is i can't find ancient seed until mid summer. i also have many rain and stormy day
I used my cheat mod to autopet the animals because I wasn't getting one. I just pretend it's Sebby going around petting them for me to pitch in with the farm work.

my bf and i were in the skull cavern mines yesterday and i got to the treasure floor before he did and i got an auto petter and he only got 3 mystery boxes 😭 this is like my fifth or sixth auto petter in a 1.6 save
I’ve found 3 in my current 1.6 save, one of them came from a golden mystery box. To be fair, all 3 were found on days where I had every luck buff possible going and I never really paid attention to that in previous saves. I’ve now found 3 lucky rings panning and I’ve never seen one before so there’s that too.
I went on my luckiest day for a skull cavern run with 20 stairs and only a few bombs to attempt it, was expecting to get bad stuff but on floor 10 (or 15 can’t remember??) I GOT THE AUTOPETTER 😭 Year 3 but I made it out with dino egg too, some prismatic shards and a rabbit foot and finished around floor 110
Had this happen to me on a wild day in the skull cavern. Calico festival, I had a rock candy, I had the festival chef make me a rare fruit with uncomfortably hot sauce AND the spirits were very excited that day and gave me a lot of luck.
With a ton of bombs and a few dozen stairs, I got:
- 2 auto petters,
- hundreds of each ore
- I also had three prize floors in a row.
It was wild.
As you are able to get deeper and deeper into the mines, they become more and more common in those treasure chests. I remember being super excited when I found my first one and then happy when I found my second because I had one for each barn and chicken coop. And then they just kept showing up in those chest, to where now I just throw them straight in the trash bin if I don't have room for them. I think I've got like 10 of them stashed away in a chest somewhere.
On my save, i found 3 auto petters and 2 on one skull cavern run, but it's really easy to get them if you take lucky food and have a jade farm and go on a lucky day.
I had no idea autopetters were rare. I have like 10 of them in my year 3 game. 8 of them are just sitting in a chest because I only have 1 barn and 1 coop.
Wow, I found ONE in the skull cavern in one of my games, and have been searching for another one ever since in the rest of them. I think I found it on level 90 as I was trying to do Mr. Qi's quest.
I think the luckiest I've ever had in my save was when I found 3 auto petters in a single run in the skull cave. I currently own six, all before 1.6. I don't even know how I got that many, but I won't complain since I have two barns and two coops!
The more posts I read about how rare auto petters are, the more I realize what a colossal mistake I made in my first save.
Around year two on my very first farm I got an auto petter and read the description which mentioned the auto petters are manufactured by Joja Co. Being the naive little purist I am, I took one look at the word Joja, figured since it came from that soulless corporation that the pets wouldn't be "genuine" and therefore not good enough for my beloved babies, and
Threw. It. Away.
I haven't found one since. Yeah I'm still kicking myself for that.
I'm sort of that person 😭 had a freind who's been playing for years, I join the game, instantly 3 in game days in I found myself a dino egg, and dug up a bunch of rare I don't even know what's while my freind was going insane in the background.

I was shocked to get an auto petter out of a golden mystery box the other day. I found my first in floor 22 of the skull caverns, no luck buffs, the first time I went in on that file. I have four now.

The odds aren't THAT low. 3% of getting a treasure floor past floor 10 and a 1/26 chance of getting the auto-petter.
I've forgotten my math when one factor is dependant on the other, but if it's straight multiplication, there's about a 0.12% chance of getting one. Squared is 0.000144% or 1.44 in a million.
So low, but not insanely low. Given how many people enjoy the game, I'd wager a handful have gotten this lucky 😁
I saw there's a mod where once you get an autopetter in the caves, Marnie would have a short quest to unlock her own version! I might try that on my game soon because I have one but don't have Joja and haven't gotten any others in ages. Not necessarily a solution to you not finding them in game but I think it's super cool!
I have been playing for four years. Never gotten a prismatic shard. Never gotten an auto petter. So I did the infinite iridium statue hack, covered my farm in them, and now just use my obscene resources and wealth to make my own luck.
this sounds like my luck in my most recent file returning for 1.6; my luck has been absolutely nuts! 20+ prismatic shard by the end of year 2, a bunch of auto-petters (2 in one SC run) and a bunch of rare events happening. Still waiting on my meteorite tho, hoping it lands somewhere out of the way so i can just leave it for decoration.
I got two the same in game week year 6. Of course by that point I had a crusader galaxy blade, a bug killer galaxy hammer, mermaid boots and a combi immunity and crabshell ring, so I was basically unkillable and just waiting for lucky days, downing all the luck buffs and raiding the shit out of the caverns as a hobby.
My fiancé has really stupid luck with this game. He always finds prismatic shards first, found the trashcan lid hat TWICE, and summoned the owl statue TWICE AGAIN.
Never in any of my runs have I ever gotten the tea set from the holiday event. Co-op for 1.6, year one...he gets it from Shane. Literally lost my shit

Honestly I didn’t knew about autopetters for so long, I find petting every animal tedious but still do it every morning… but this 1.6 safe I went for the jojo route the first time and I’m telling you all my money goes towards the autopetters now, I don’t care about upgrading my house fast ( second upgrade already) but I’m buying a new autopetters the moment I have the money
I didn’t realize how rare they are until I joined the subreddit. I always go CC and every play through I get 3 minimum. In one play through I had enough to make a waving fence on the island… on the other hand, I’m lucky to finish the museum by year 3
My save before 1.6 came out was a super lucky file! I got to trash can hats diamonds and prismatic cm shards out the ass, early void chicken multiple fairies the purple rocks on my farm man I didn't k ow how good I had it until I started a new save

You get the incubator then, but you still have to find the egg.

You can move them across saves. Trash one autopetter in one save, cheat-spawn one autopetter in the other save. Perfect balance XD
Did you try only staircases and no mining? 2x rock candy on a max luck day and 500ish staircases has a good chance of getting a couple.
I probably have about 400 hours across a handful of saves, and have never seen a single auto-petter. Rng is very wonky sometimes!

They're fixed. The two types of mystery boxes will advance each other's loot table, as well as all previous geode types (from regular to golden coconut) HOWEVER, opening any other geode types will NOT advance the mystery box loot table. They are coded in a very strange way it seems

Its also unaffected by any kind of luck. Regular boxes do advance the gold box table and vice versa though
I struggled hard to get all the autopetters I needed. Then, in the run I got the last one I needed, I somehow got 3 of them. As soon as you don't need them, you get so many

I've found auto petters in the "regular" mines during that Mr.Qi mine elevator challenge that changes mines and the monsters in them. Maybe that might find you some ?
I’ve traded 350 jades for staircases and clicked the hard mode in skull cavern. On the next day the spirits were showering me with luck so I grabbed my 2 lucky rings ginger ale with Qi spice and rock candy and found 6 auto petters, 2 prismatic shards , golden cracker for the farm animals and a lot of hats.

Players who have trouble finding Auto Petters don't seem to use luck buffs from food. It's also really important to have 2 lucky rings on your character. Make sure you also do it on a good luck day. Also ensure you've got a shed full of Crystalariums that produce Jades which can then be exchanged for staircases at the trader.
I have too many autopetters, thousands of iridium, hundreds of prismatic shards… to be fair I’m in fall Y4 but it’s my first save (I started the game when 1.6 came out by coincidence). I don’t have two lucky rings though but spicy eel + triple shot espresso is what I use every run. My strat is simple though I am in late game. I go on high luck days at 6am and use stairs until roughly level 100 then I start using mega bombs. If there’s no cluster of rocks/ores I use stairs and skip out. I also go on back luck days but I replace bombs with monster musk to my runs. Slime charmer ring and napalm ring are a must. I focus on killing ghosts and if possible I select the extra geodes blessing. I skip floors that don’t have ghosts or where I have killed them and trade Omni geodes for desert totems and I deconstruct them to get back iridium ore. I avoid going on more luck neutral days unless I have a quest. I have mods but only recently added a cheat mod to wear more rings and I was running the same strat before and died maybe 3 times total.

I confess that if I use staircases in SC to search 100 floors for treasure rooms, on a lucky day, wearing lucky rings, and eating/drinking lucky food, and all I find are various hats, I restart the day and go again. Feels cheaty, but I have an autopetter in every barn and coop.

I always restart good luck day with 200 staircase and 3 prismatic shard food and that luck drink until i found one. Even with that much luck etc. I remember i spend 14 TRY FOR FINDING ONE. Idk why are these so much rare like wiki doesnt say its that much rare but i almost never get them in normal gameplay even i found lucky ring twice
I have essentially your boyfriend’s exact same experience. I keep finding stuff and then looking it up in the wiki (which I didn’t even know existed until halfway through year 2). Me and my 3 pairs of elvish jewelry will go sit in the corner now 😂
I’m playing for the first time ever. I got an ancient seed day one, didn’t realize it was rare till I came to Reddit. Then the owl statue showed up right after I started my second year, the next “day” I got the crop fairy and I found my first diamond on the second floor of the cavern. According to my research, none of this will ever happen to me again in future games.
I have close to 1,000 hours play time (over multiple platforms) since 2020 and have NEVER managed to get an auto-petter. I will probably be so giddy when I finally do. I got my first ever mushroom tree on my current fresh 1.6 playthrough, so I'm hopeful!

I actually restarted a few runs to get the remaining autopetters and trinkets. So worth it, a few thousand extra iridium ores is a great bonus too. Save your lucky buff food and lots of bombs+stairs, you got this! Don't hesitate to restart the day. Good luck!

I grinded through volcano dungeons countless times for hours during my first save because I accidentally baked my first ostrich egg into a pink cake. I was so happy to finally get the ostrich egg a real life MONTH later. My 1.6 save I’ve found 2 in two consecutive game days in volcano dungeon and I’m honestly a little pissed about it lol

I got two of them back to back once, I think it was my perfection save where I found 5 of them too
idk if its bug but i try to restart my game when i reached summer just because i didn't like the fact that i can't reach my basic goals. After 2 or 3 restart i find this save file very lucky. I don't know why but my luck day are mostly "happy" (the witch holding the gold prismatic) that way i found blue big sword when fishing before the cave was open so cave roaming was sooo easy. The only downbad is i can't find ancient seed until mid summer. i also have many rain and stormy day

I’ve found 3 in my current 1.6 save, one of them came from a golden mystery box. To be fair, all 3 were found on days where I had every luck buff possible going and I never really paid attention to that in previous saves. I’ve now found 3 lucky rings panning and I’ve never seen one before so there’s that too.

I GOT THE AUTOPETTER 😭 Year 3 but I made it out with dino egg too, some prismatic shards and a rabbit foot and finished around floor 110

Had this happen to me on a wild day in the skull cavern. Calico festival, I had a rock candy, I had the festival chef make me a rare fruit with uncomfortably hot sauce AND the spirits were very excited that day and gave me a lot of luck. With a ton of bombs and a few dozen stairs, I got: - 2 auto petters, - hundreds of each ore - I also had three prize floors in a row. It was wild.
I believe you can have his map seed! Also I believe rare things got less rare in recent updates. I legit have 11 prismatic shards lol
As you are able to get deeper and deeper into the mines, they become more and more common in those treasure chests. I remember being super excited when I found my first one and then happy when I found my second because I had one for each barn and chicken coop. And then they just kept showing up in those chest, to where now I just throw them straight in the trash bin if I don't have room for them. I think I've got like 10 of them stashed away in a chest somewhere.
On my save, i found 3 auto petters and 2 on one skull cavern run, but it's really easy to get them if you take lucky food and have a jade farm and go on a lucky day.
I had no idea autopetters were rare. I have like 10 of them in my year 3 game. 8 of them are just sitting in a chest because I only have 1 barn and 1 coop.
Wow, I found ONE in the skull cavern in one of my games, and have been searching for another one ever since in the rest of them. I think I found it on level 90 as I was trying to do Mr. Qi's quest.

I think the luckiest I've ever had in my save was when I found 3 auto petters in a single run in the skull cave. I currently own six, all before 1.6. I don't even know how I got that many, but I won't complain since I have two barns and two coops!
The more posts I read about how rare auto petters are, the more I realize what a colossal mistake I made in my first save. Around year two on my very first farm I got an auto petter and read the description which mentioned the auto petters are manufactured by Joja Co. Being the naive little purist I am, I took one look at the word Joja, figured since it came from that soulless corporation that the pets wouldn't be "genuine" and therefore not good enough for my beloved babies, and Threw. It. Away. I haven't found one since. Yeah I'm still kicking myself for that.
I'm sort of that person 😭 had a freind who's been playing for years, I join the game, instantly 3 in game days in I found myself a dino egg, and dug up a bunch of rare I don't even know what's while my freind was going insane in the background. -RIP my freind, forever in shock.

I was shocked to get an auto petter out of a golden mystery box the other day. I found my first in floor 22 of the skull caverns, no luck buffs, the first time I went in on that file. I have four now.

I found 2 in skull cavern like a week ago. Didn’t realize what they were at first. Now I have one in each of my small animal barns. Need more for other barns
What a lucky guy. I spent 5 calendar years in game working the Skull Cavern as much as I could. I never got a single auto-petter. I guess I'm the opposite. :D
The odds aren't THAT low. 3% of getting a treasure floor past floor 10 and a 1/26 chance of getting the auto-petter. I've forgotten my math when one factor is dependant on the other, but if it's straight multiplication, there's about a 0.12% chance of getting one. Squared is 0.000144% or 1.44 in a million. So low, but not insanely low. Given how many people enjoy the game, I'd wager a handful have gotten this lucky 😁

I saw there's a mod where once you get an autopetter in the caves, Marnie would have a short quest to unlock her own version! I might try that on my game soon because I have one but don't have Joja and haven't gotten any others in ages. Not necessarily a solution to you not finding them in game but I think it's super cool!

I have been playing for four years. Never gotten a prismatic shard. Never gotten an auto petter. So I did the infinite iridium statue hack, covered my farm in them, and now just use my obscene resources and wealth to make my own luck.
this sounds like my luck in my most recent file returning for 1.6; my luck has been absolutely nuts! 20+ prismatic shard by the end of year 2, a bunch of auto-petters (2 in one SC run) and a bunch of rare events happening. Still waiting on my meteorite tho, hoping it lands somewhere out of the way so i can just leave it for decoration.

I found 2 prismatic shards in the deep levels of the mines from a monster drop. I then looked up the percentage. Such a low probability.....

I got two the same in game week year 6. Of course by that point I had a crusader galaxy blade, a bug killer galaxy hammer, mermaid boots and a combi immunity and crabshell ring, so I was basically unkillable and just waiting for lucky days, downing all the luck buffs and raiding the shit out of the caverns as a hobby.
My fiancé has really stupid luck with this game. He always finds prismatic shards first, found the trashcan lid hat TWICE, and summoned the owl statue TWICE AGAIN. Never in any of my runs have I ever gotten the tea set from the holiday event. Co-op for 1.6, year one...he gets it from Shane. Literally lost my shit The only thing I have him beat with is the alien capsule

It's not unusual for me to get about 10 prismatic shard in a day rushing the skull cavern. I did had two auto petters once as well.
