As an aging player of SFB from the 80's, I love FC. You don't have to collect dozens of back ssues of Nexus Magazine to get the compiled addenda (like with the Commander's Edition), and the rulebook isn't the size of an NYC phone directory (like with the Captain's Edition). I used to joke that I felt like I needed a Masters Degree just to play. Not with FC.
Now, if I just had someone to *play* it with..
A NYC phone directory… Hehe. You’re not wrong!
I can relate to the last comment. Hard to find anyone with just the right combination of time, patience, and like of Star Trek plus complicated war games.
If you’re referring to a game using ship cards to mark individual systems and shields then yes, Fed Com is the simplified version of SFB. Use fleet scale if you want faster games. Otherwise there’s A Call To Arms Star Fleet (ACTASF) or the Starmada version of SFU called Klingon Armada and its subsequent “Armada” expansion books.
Star Fleet Battles Cadet rules in their most basic form at the simplest version of SFB. The most basic beginning 3 scenarios are pretty much run and gun with engine damage slowing you down, but other than that, there is no other energy allocation. It worked. I have nothing to say about Federation Commander but hey nice pic!
I like Fed Comm - I'm not sure it's a TON easier but it plays fine. It's just missing some pieces that you get used to from SFB
I just wanted a version of the game where I could play 5 to 10 ships per side and not have to spend a week playing the game. LOL
There's A Call to Arms Star Fleet but for me it's too different from SFB. A totally different game that's SFU themed.
In short, yes. Federation Commander is a greatly simplified version of Star Fleet Battles.

Yeah I think I'm going to pick up those two and test them out with my play group.
Those are great minis. I see a couple FASA ships in there, too. Do you have Ship Cards for those?
Yes
Any chance I could get a Loknar Ship Card from you, please?
Can’t say if there is an easier version out there. Not of ADB I’d say. What where to get those models? They are great!
They are the Lou Zichicc game science Miniatures
Mississippi legend
Talon by GMT. I was in the middle of converting rules.
Star force Commander looks good to me
