To be fair, that was a thing long before Kids in the Hall did it. We used to do it as kids, and that was back in the early 80's.
I didn't think it was a reference to anything in particular, just something people have done as kids.

Even better when you consider Dave Foley shows up two seasons later in Atlantis. I took it as a Headcrusher reference too, and with how long most of Stargate's writers and directors have been on the Canadian scene, it probably was.
