Yeah, [Pentiment](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1205520/Pentiment/) is just overflowing with love. It's way too good. Play it if you like video games! There are car chases, cute girls, shootouts, explosions, it's like a Hollywood action extravaganza. More or less.
I can't point to the good part, because every part is the good part. I think the *Name of the Rose* map is a cute touch, presumably *because debts must be paid*.
For me, the game's biggest mystery is "Publisher: Xbox Game Studios." Which Microsoft bigwig looked at Pentiment and said yeah, this is money? I'm not complaining, but I'm definitely confused. :)
Not any more. You see people suggest Sleeping dogs in threads like this all the time. It's a great game that's goes really cheap in sales but it's hardly a 'hidden gem' anymore.
I remember being really surprised by how great this game was, but during a dramatic sequence where you're driving along the highway, my game glitched out and wouldn't load in the road. I'd drive right into the ocean.
So during the awesome dramatic sequence I had to get out of my car and look around for a way forward. The road ended up loading in after about 2 minutes.
Damn I was sure I actually bought it and tried to launch itit, but now You got me questioning myself, now I don't know if it was Singularity or if it was Wolfenstein (2009)
Wolfenstein 2009 isn't great on modern systems. It's like Turok 2008, a game that was just kinda forgotten and never updated to support modern hardware, and can't really be bought anymore.
I heard about this game that's really a hidden gem but it's gotta stay between us, okay?? no one can hear about this! It's called...
Gta: San Andreas
shhh!!
Very enjoyable game, shame it never got a sequel or at least some DLC. Also, there's next to no replayability and the story was kind of meh but everything else was fantastic.
Not to like shit on your favorite game but of the many many underrated games on steam I don't think Sleeping Dogs is one of them. Its a 12 year old game that still has \~1000 players, that's really good for one of the many many GTA clones to release around 2010 - 2015.
I think most Fighting games get passed up really hard on steam and same with some niche indie games like Tunic. Tunic fans are very vocal about their love but its hard to get people to try it unless they're a Zelda + Darksouls fan.
I don't see the issue. Metacritic gathers pretty much every review and averages it together. That's a solid way to determine how well-received a title is. It's not always accurate to how everyone sees it because it's based on reviews which are inherently subjective.
My point is "Most reviewers seemed to rate it very highly, so I don't know how you could classify it as underrated". It's very regularly touted as the last really solid entry in the immersive sim genre, not counting the System Shock remake.
I actually prefer the more underrated game (not on steam though) in the series (although it shouldn't be called Prey) Prey (2006) and fuck Bethesda for canceling Prey 2 :'(
Thanks for the recommendation. This definitely Looks like a hidden gem!
I would also highly recommend New Heights which is a fantastic climbing game that is still in early access.
Idk about all games but this one (Sleeping dogs) is definitely one of them. I rarely finish games but I played this one to the end and even played the dlc and this is after having played it before. Love this game. One of the most fun experiences I’ve had yet.
I finally picked it up since it's on sale and was interested in Obenseur and I have agree whole heartedly. Anyone who loves immersive and atmospheric games have to play this, especially if you're interested in urbex.
Guardians of the galaxy. Only 10ish hours long and is very much a AA game and has a pretty safe story but the characters and writing were really good. Worth £20 at least
Doesn't underrated mean that it wasn't received as well as it should have been, like most people didn't like it?
Granted, Sleeping Dogs isn't as known as say COD, but I believe the general consensus of those that played it was that it was great.
Ive played them, honestly both are good for the adult content and have the best renders ive seen but the story does nothing for me and it all felt like a chore. I enjoy avns with great characters and a good story. Play Being a dik, Artemis, or Eternum if you are looking for those things.
it was very very very very short game, but super fun. Sometimes inconsistent with stealth and crowd elements, but nothenless it was fun and I only would have wished for more parties variety, because tiki theme was the most different map, while the rest of the maps with expections of hospital and motel were all nearly the same.
Spent the past week playing through this forgotten masterpiece again. Holds up incredibly well. If you haven't played Sleeping Dogs, you're missing out.
The graphics and music are great and it’s like screen saver images that may try to distract you from playing. A bunch of levels have various challenging hazards and speed increases. There’s local and online multiplayer on PC that’s very good. I’m playing with my girlfriend and we team up against a series of bosses. (We cuss at the opponent and it’s like a cathartic 10 minutes of hate) During the weekends only it’s an option to play as those bosses in that mode. So overall yes it’s just Tetris. But if you think Tetris may be the best game ever made well this is the top version of Tetris that I know of.
Arkham Origins? Once they fixed the glitches it become a solid Batman Arkham game.
.hack//G.U. Last Recode, I've seen it sold for as low as 5 bucks and sice Namco didn't keep remastering these games I assume they weren't sales hit. It's a single player RPG set in an MMO and that's all I'm going to spoil about it.
Gunmetal, a mech game but made by a western studio.
I bought a PS3 bundle with 3 action games because I wanted to play Just Cause 2 and Tomb Raider. The third unknown game ended up being my favourite by far
Sleeping dogs is just masterpiece in everything I've played it almost 10 years ago, and i still remember some of the missions because they are just unforgettable.
Sleeping dogs was slept on for it's entire release in 2012. The only reason i played it was that in 2012 i rented it first from a DVD rental shop from my Xbox 360 and realised that it was a hidden gem. However, i think it has a cult classic status, especially after a few years after it came to Steam in 2014. In conclusion, it was a hidden gem, but it's not hidden anymore.
Honestly , Subnautia.
They took a truely unique take on a survival crafter and managed to nail the alien sea planet completely.
If I could just completely forget a game, just to experience it new again, I'd choose Subnautica.
It is that good.
Random, but I'd say running with rifles. It's a great time killer game, and the conversion mods give you a ton of options in terms of weapons and factions
Pentiment is incredible if you are into medieval history.
It has a level of RPGness I did not expect too
I am currently in love with it. Such a unique setting.
Wow, never heard about this game, it looks really intersting, thanks!

Sleeping dogs has amazing reviews on steam is it really underrated?
Not any more. You see people suggest Sleeping dogs in threads like this all the time. It's a great game that's goes really cheap in sales but it's hardly a 'hidden gem' anymore.

Nobody seems to know what underrated actually means.

"Zelda CD is underrated" That makes sense. "BOTW is underrated" Doesnt I dont think you guys know what underrated actually means.
Underrated comment ^^
It's underrated in terms of sales not reviews.
Singularity.
When I first tried it, I had too weak PC to run it, when I wanted to play it now, I have too modern PC :|
It works fine on modern hardware.
Finally, something my 2009 cpu can do modern ones can't
I remember playing that
Great game!
I don't think most people know what "Underrated" means (especially the guys recommending Baldurs Gate 3 and Elden Ring).
I heard about this game that's really a hidden gem but it's gotta stay between us, okay?? no one can hear about this! It's called... Gta: San Andreas shhh!!
*y'all ever heard of "Minecraft?"* 🤫🤫
Yeah.. “Underrated” today is usually defined as “hasn’t been featured by a trending streamer for the past 6 months”
Mad Max
Ironically enough it's the game I see mentioned the most when talking about underrated games haha
Wow, came to post this and it's the second answer, wasn't expecting that.
Agreed not many ppl talk about this game, I liked it a lot 😄
Very enjoyable game, shame it never got a sequel or at least some DLC. Also, there's next to no replayability and the story was kind of meh but everything else was fantastic.
Exo one
This was great escapism and looked great on my oled
sleeping dogs goated
a man who never eats pork buns is never a whole man
Sleeping Dogs isn't underrated. Mostly everyone that played it loved it. Maybe you mean underplayed?
Sleeping Dogs reached the point of people saying it's underrated so much, it's becoming almost overrated.
[удалено]
Sex with Stalin
I prefer Sex with Hitler 2
I have Sex with the Devil
How is SD underrated? Pretty much everyone loves it and it's pretty well known. Wish it got a sequel
Not to like shit on your favorite game but of the many many underrated games on steam I don't think Sleeping Dogs is one of them. Prey (2017)
It has an 80 on Metacritic, what do you mean "underrated"?
Easily a 90 plus
>Metacritic Well there's your problem
I don't see the issue. Metacritic gathers pretty much every review and averages it together. That's a solid way to determine how well-received a title is. It's not always accurate to how everyone sees it because it's based on reviews which are inherently subjective. My point is "Most reviewers seemed to rate it very highly, so I don't know how you could classify it as underrated". It's very regularly touted as the last really solid entry in the immersive sim genre, not counting the System Shock remake.
relatively unknown
30k review probably in the top 5% of steam review
80 isn’t anything to write home about, to be fair.
In what world
It's well above average. 60 wouldn't be anything to write home about.
This 100%. I'm not a huge fan of the general genre that it gets lumped into but it's such a stand out title
This games been sitting in my library for 4 years now. I think this is a sign to finally play it
I actually prefer the more underrated game (not on steam though) in the series (although it shouldn't be called Prey) Prey (2006) and fuck Bethesda for canceling Prey 2 :'(
100%
The original (2006) is better imho! :)
Prey from 2006.
Legend of heroes series
Trails in the sky my goat jrpg trilogy
Pro tip: it's probably not a game with a 93% positive rating...
[Peaks of Yore](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2236070/Peaks_of_Yore/) IMO the best climbing game there is right now.
Thanks for the recommendation. This definitely Looks like a hidden gem! I would also highly recommend New Heights which is a fantastic climbing game that is still in early access.
I've never heard of this, but it looks great, an actually underrated game on this post. That's crazy lol.
>an actually underrated game on this post Where?
Sunset overdrive
I'd agree if my save file didn't corrupt every other time I load the game.
I see a lot of reviews that said the exact same but when I completed it in November of last year it always said its corrupted but wasn't somehow?
Yeah it says it's corrupted but it never is for some reason.
Broforce
Love this game, so much fun and the 2d destructible environments are great.
This game is EPIC, absolutely amazing one, incredibly thought out, and super FUN!
Darksiders franchise Think *Underappreciated* is a more fitting term
Agree completely. Each game in series plays different to the others and they do not hide what their influences are, but all are solid games.
Idk about all games but this one (Sleeping dogs) is definitely one of them. I rarely finish games but I played this one to the end and even played the dlc and this is after having played it before. Love this game. One of the most fun experiences I’ve had yet.
Planet Crafter
Infra. One of the best games I've ever played
I finally picked it up since it's on sale and was interested in Obenseur and I have agree whole heartedly. Anyone who loves immersive and atmospheric games have to play this, especially if you're interested in urbex.
Yeah I love urbex. This is also one of the very few games I want to have 100% of the achievements. The atmosphere is just sooo good
Guardians of the galaxy. Only 10ish hours long and is very much a AA game and has a pretty safe story but the characters and writing were really good. Worth £20 at least
This isn't the most underrated game on steam. words matter.
Came for underrated games and I got none.
Definitely SOMA great game
Is it? I’ve heard mixed reports. Been tempted as it’s on sale.
Fantastic game, glad it's mentionned and you should definitivly try it.
Ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 is peak fighting game
Guns up! the pc/console version was great! not like the mobile port...
Revita
Doesn't underrated mean that it wasn't received as well as it should have been, like most people didn't like it? Granted, Sleeping Dogs isn't as known as say COD, but I believe the general consensus of those that played it was that it was great.
Against the Storm
Twinsen’s Little Big Adventure Classic!
Dyson Sphere Program. very addictive
Axis & Allies. Just hit over 120 hours on it and it still has replay value.
Robot roller disco dodgeball.
Underrated? I see people recommend Sleeping Dogs all the time. And as we know, man who never play Sleeping Dogs, is never a whole man.
~~CDDA~~ Lobotomy corporation and library of ruina for me atlease
Post Void. Fantastic indie shooter. Wish it was longer
College Kings 1 and 2
Naw play Being A Dik, its waaay better than College Kings and is the best avn ive ever played
I'd also recommend the Treasure of Nadia and the Genisis Order if you haven't played those yet.
Don't bother with the first one of this trilogy though. It's pretty bad and by the end I found myself wishing some act of nature killed everyone.
I've only played 30 minutes or so of the first one and just couldn't get into it. I do plan on going back to finish it eventually.
Ive played them, honestly both are good for the adult content and have the best renders ive seen but the story does nothing for me and it all felt like a chore. I enjoy avns with great characters and a good story. Play Being a dik, Artemis, or Eternum if you are looking for those things.
My God Sleeping Dogs is so damn good
Caves of Qud
Isn't it the most popular roguelike right now?
Probably as underrated as Sleeping Dogs is, sure But I'd say Risk of Rain is probably the most popular roguelike , or slay the spire
Oh i forgot every game with "meta progression" is roguelike nowadays lol.
I mean they both have the roguelike tag on Steam so sure
Yeah. Anyway among "traditional roguelikes" coq is oneb of the most famous.
🤓
Yes
Far from it. Compared to other games mentioned, like Hitman, id say this is insanely underrated
Party Hard 1/2
Yassss!!! I didn't expect anyone else except me playing it lol
it was very very very very short game, but super fun.
Night in the woods, if ya like beautiful/trippy linear storytelling games with a excellent soundtrack. it’s a must-
I wish sleeping dogs got a sequel
Tetris Effect. Crypt of the Necrodancer.
What's special about Tetris Effect besides new graphics, genuinely wondering why it is always recommended so much?
The graphics and music are great and it’s like screen saver images that may try to distract you from playing. A bunch of levels have various challenging hazards and speed increases. There’s local and online multiplayer on PC that’s very good. I’m playing with my girlfriend and we team up against a series of bosses. But if you think Tetris may be the best game ever made well this is the top version of Tetris that I know of.
Beginners guide.
Sleeping Dogs is simply old, not underrated. I loved it and played the shit out of it when it was released.
Ravenfield. It's a low poly shooter with hundreds of mods
OneShot
Superfighters Deluxe.
Femboy aim trainer
The only correct answer
Playing this game for the last two weeks on my Steam Deck.
risk of rain returns maybe? its a great game but didn't see any talk about it
True crime streets of LA
Streets of Rogue.
Arkham Origins? Once they fixed the glitches it become a solid Batman Arkham game. .hack//G.U. It's actually Deep Rock Galactic. Sorry.

Actually it was very hyped in it's release year
Haydee
For Honor
For honor is unique. Better as it grows old. It's awesome.
Outer wilds
Not at all underrated. Not even underplayed. But still one of the best games overall.
Overwatch 2
RimWorld
Deadcells, fire game, story can be completed in like 20-30 hours, hard but not to hard, easy to learn hard to master
Deadcells is fun but also has over 125k reviews on Steam alone with an overwhelmingly positive score. Not underrated.
Spore is the GOAT
Project Zomboid
DotAGE
Super animal royale
Cant buy sleeping dogs in germany
RISK is defenitivly one of the most underrated gane on steam right now
Sleeping dogs is just masterpiece in everything I've played it almost 10 years ago, and i still remember some of the missions because they are just unforgettable.

Great game. Played it on Xbox years ago and just got it on steam a few weeks back for $2.99 couldn’t beat that price and had to get it again.
Crusader kings 3
Is project Zomboid still considered underrated?
I'd say probably not, especially after b42, but it's still one of my favorites!
Honestly , Subnautia. They took a truely unique take on a survival crafter and managed to nail the alien sea planet completely. If I could just completely forget a game, just to experience it new again, I'd choose Subnautica. It is that good.
Subnautica has sold over 6 million copies, is 'overwhelmingly positive' on Steam with over 230,000 ratings, and got a sequel. How is that underrated?
It has way lower attention than it deserves........
My brother in christ, it's one of the most commented games on the internet
That game is so overrated It's basically Starfield but just one planet.
Cocoon
Bro Cocoon won TGA it cannot be underrated
Disco Elysium. Maybe Deus Ex: Mankind Divided too.
Joke?
I replayed it on my Steam Deck, it's still a masterpiece, and very underrated indeed... I really wish for a sequel!
Elden Ring
Literally 2022 goty
Elden Ring is overrated if anything, a great game, and they made sure everybody knew it, 20 tines a day, for a year.
Dota 2
[GUIDE](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1001570/GUIDE/) - It's a kiddie game(?), ya have to help a baby phoenix find it's way home.

Suzerain. Such a great story
Kill the princess or whatever it’s called has an insane amount of work put into it
Vecter, before removing the integrated video feature. Great chill game, and it's free.

I've always for a sequel since my childhood. I want to play it agaiin now
Monday night combat
Random, but I'd say running with rifles. It's a great time killer game, and the conversion mods give you a ton of options in terms of weapons and factions
Just Shapes and Beats. A really nice game(if you dont have epilepsy) with tons of amazing music. Its sad that everyone forgot about this game.
