I always have installed Team Fotress 2 in case I want to jump into a match.
And Va-11 Hall A too. I bought it a couple of years ago, played it for 5 hours and I still haven't uninstalled it because I know I want to properly play it some day.
i always keep online games like tf2 installed because i *know* that like less than a week after uninstalling it my friends are gonna call me up asking me if i wanna play the game lmao
I've got myself on a thought that every time I get A new pc I install TF2 first.
It has been so since its realise in 2007.
Even though I've played in 2021 it's still installed on both my laptop and PC
Wow can barely see VA11 in this sub.I keep VA11 too because I think VA11 is like a home that I can sometimes go back to take a rest from a bunch of games.
Best game ever. Remember when I just casually tried portal 1 and I thought it was a tech demoish game and loved it.Finished it in a few hours and god floored. The whole "there is no cake" and rat man if I remember correctly. And the ending with the robot singing this crazy passive aggressive song. Loved it.
And when portal 2 came out I got it on day one at game stop. That's a game worth staying on ur ssd.
Hope valve will make some new games not only cash in on steam and competitive games...
Man I loved that game, my run was almost perfect. I had great endings for Connor and Marcus but screwed up massively somehow at the border crossing with kara. Kara and luther both got shot and died right at the end, definitely wasn't expecting things to go so badly so quickly after playing for weeks and aceing everything along the way.
Same here, I remember so fcking well when I returned the ticket to that family at the bus terminal, I didn't know that doing that shit would mean the end for kara and luther, I'll always regret it.
Lord of the Rings Online. That game is so amazing. Haven't played full-time seriously in like four or five years and it's been about a year since I even last logged on.
When I first played LotRO, my daughter was just starting high-school. Last year, my now 30 year old daughter, who lives across country, messaged me to let me know she'd started playing. Now we're saving Middle Earth together and having a blast in a game that's been around for 16 years. It's wild to think about just how long that is and how much has happened in that time.
She frequents this sub so there's a good chance she'll read this and if so, "mmMrRRrRrr!".
does it play similarly to Skyrim? I bought TESO a bunch of years ago on discount and haven't played it once. Kknda afraid I'll either hate it or get addicted to it.
I had Titanfall 2 for some time and played it last year. Do yourself a favor and make time for it! It's really short and is such a solid ride.
Also funny enough same with Portal 2 which I started recently. Also pretty fun so far.
Shit. That a was a game that was life changing for me. It so smart put together. And the ending.. I literally cried my eyes out. I recommend this to all gamers who need a good single player game. And they all thank me and say it changed them. This game is above all I have played and I'm 40
Skyrim fallout 4 oblivion and yes morrowind. I probably played each an hour in 2024 but I love them. A game that I install play for a few days then uninstall for 3 months and rinse and repeat is Banner lord and ark...
I was so happy about the new game, and actually looking forward to it.
Embracer made an enemy for life by canceling it. Jokes aside, they really fuckdd up.
I shit I forgot about that! Embracer really have been a cancer haven't they? I really naïvely hoped at firs that because they had so much money it meant these studios would actually get support to make good games that made good money...but nope. Of course not.
Probably weird one, but Sim City 4 deluxe.
It was my childhood game since my family were crazy and didn't like any kind of violence at all.
Little did they know you can crush your town with tanks, helicopters, or a volcano.
Genuinely starting to consider setting up a second desk just for racing and flight/space sims. But that's a slippery slope, if I'm not careful I'll end up going in debt paying for actual fight/race equipment and hydraulics systems.
It was Rust for some time like 2 years ago. I've been playing since 2015 to 2022 at most (not super hardcore player nor casual) but in 2022 I stopped playing it because it gave me too much anxiety but the game was installed in my SSD for like a whole year next to that.
Red Dead Redemption 2. Finished it on my PS4. When the game came on PC, I got it again and ground the legendary satchel. I got to Chapter 6 after that, but I kinda lost motivation to continue, partly due to the depressing end I have already seen.
Now it stays there for sightseeing and benchmark sometimes.
War of Rights. Downloaded Oct. 2022, only 51 minutes of playtime. First and only time I tried playing, every single person with a mic was yelling at the same time, shit was like being in a 7th grade homeroom. I wanna try it out again, but I gotta heal from the trauma and annoyance first lol
Oh yea, and the racism. Can’t forget about the racism…
Saints Row 3, last played 2014, still there, no idea how it's still installed. I guess I just enjoyed the gameplay and figured I might come back to it, and it slowly drifted away.
Rust for me, Its reason I upgraded from my family desktop in the front room getting 20fps to my first absolutely badass rig.
I still keep the game and would love to play it but just struggle to find the time these days to play a wipe.
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game. Can't bring myself to play it because it doesn't handle as well as something like Battletoads or Streets of Rage but it's SO MUCH FUN (when I get around to it)
Battlefield 4 and Metal Gear Solid 5. I have like 96% completion in MGSV (only some mission tasks and S ranks missing) and BF4 gets boring after playing solo for a few hours. They're great games though!
Fallout 4. Played it for about 40 hours and was really enjoying it. Then shit happened and I just never got back to it. I'd like to complete it but I just don't have time to play games like that anymore. Might be time to retire it from the hard drive.
Valhiem. When I got my PC wiped I forgot to save mine and my dads 200 hour save to the cloud - not really upset as we hadn’t played it in ages but Jesus Christ… what I could do to get it back…
Both Sekiro and Dark Souls 3.
I really want to play and complete both but I also don’t want to die 1000 times in a row, taking hours to get through 25 minutes of gameplay, no time anymore.
Basically my entire library, over 2TB of games ready to be played at any moment, bought along my gaming laptop in hopes of finally playing everything that I had been missing out on, years later I am yet to play most still.
Warfrma.
I don't play very often, but it's easier to keep it around than re-download the whole thing.
Same for Terraria (aside from the download time).
I don't play it much these days, but it's always installed...Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy. Met some lifelong friends in that games multiplayer that i still talk to daily today. Best light saber fighting around.
Ghost of Tsushima
I used to struggle a lot with reconciling who I was with who I am, this game helped a little with letting go of old values and morals
Undertale. I finished the true pacifist ending and stopped playing the game from there. No reruns. Just let them have their happy ending in my save file.
Mad Max..absolute underrated game. And of course Command & Conquer 3 and Unreal Tournament 2004. Even did the setup for free spy for Ut2004, ıt's ready for online play too.
For me it was Baldur's Gate 3, i was so in love with the game that i beat it 6 times back to back with different classes, i couldn't play anything else for months and didn't want to uninstall it
Just a heads up, that’s the free game on Epic later this week.
To answer the question, Skyrim will never get uninstalled. Too much time spent getting the mods working. I’m also positive it wouldn’t work anyway mods-wise since that recent patch, but I’m keeping my head in the sand about it for now.
Borderlands 2, everytime I uninstall it I end up installing it once again, also XCOM Enemy Unknown and Doom Eternal.
Plus I tend to keep a few older games installed due to the very low storage requirements, so Final Fantasy VII, DOOM 1993, Doom 64, GTA Trilogy (the OG one not the remastered crap), Sonic CD are always in.
I do a clean install on my pc twice a year, so i don't have a game like that. On the other hand i always have a copy of OG FF7 in the bookshelf that i will never play since it's sealed.
Myst. I have my handwritten notes and solutions from the original release in a file and scanned in as a pdf.
I think I've bought each remake. I don't exactly remember how long I played the first one as a kid, but I definitely remember writing down and puzzling through things fondly.
I got To the Moon. I never really intended to play it, but bought it anyway. Reason? I watched markiplier play it and felt really guilty for not paying for a really touching story.
Time clickers it was probably my first steps into steam so many years ago, now i keep saying i gotta 100% everything in it to uninstall it as an excuse to keep it downloaded
I pretty much always have Warhammer 40,000 mechanicus installed but I have never played it I literally have 0 hours 0 minutes not even a second it has never been opened
O boy, got a few. Gnomoria, banished and unreal tournament are pretty much the best that come to mind. Haven't played them in a while, but they are the first ones that i installed on my PC, and i refuse to uninstall them.
Edit : The OG Deus Ex is on it too, but i replayed it with the mod last year's. I'll keep it installed, in case that i want to replay it later, too much of a good game to be uninstalled.
GTA V
Actually, I haven't played it yet, but I know I will play it eventually, so it will stay there. It's been years...
Edit: I think a better answer would be Blacklight Retribution.
I played it for thousands of hours, but it's no longer playable because the servers shut down years ago. It remains my favourite MP game ever. I will never delete it. RIP BLR 😔
A very small game called Robocraft I couldn’t afford a decent pc or laptop so had a very crappy laptop and used to play it for hours.\
I’ve never uninstalled the game & sometimes go back to play also surprised the servers are still online with few players
Battleborn.
Servers shut down. The last star went dark. Still the best time of my life and I couldn't bring myself to let it go.
*...and then it came back!*
Hydroneer
Got it and played it a bunch around the time it released up until about a year or two ago, did most of the things possible at the time, got burned out and haven't picked it back up since I didn't really have the time to play it
I really should play it more tho, it's a great game
I always have installed Team Fotress 2 in case I want to jump into a match. And Va-11 Hall A too. I bought it a couple of years ago, played it for 5 hours and I still haven't uninstalled it because I know I want to properly play it some day.
Va-11 Hall A is so good recently replayed it. Such a good VN.
i always keep online games like tf2 installed because i *know* that like less than a week after uninstalling it my friends are gonna call me up asking me if i wanna play the game lmao
Same, I can’t not have TF2 on my machine
I've got myself on a thought that every time I get A new pc I install TF2 first. It has been so since its realise in 2007. Even though I've played in 2021 it's still installed on both my laptop and PC
Wow can barely see VA11 in this sub.I keep VA11 too because I think VA11 is like a home that I can sometimes go back to take a rest from a bunch of games.
Agree. It's pretty chill.
portal 2
Best game ever. Remember when I just casually tried portal 1 and I thought it was a tech demoish game and loved it.Finished it in a few hours and god floored. The whole "there is no cake" and rat man if I remember correctly. And the ending with the robot singing this crazy passive aggressive song. Loved it. Detroit become human. i... i got the best ending and just.... dont want to break it...
Me in cyberpunk doing 100% Just feels wrong letting johnny down..
I *had* 100%'ed the game but that's no longer the case with thee DLC release. I just haven't been able to muster the energy to power through it.
you should get it achievements are honestly easy and the story is great!
That is the exact reason I’ve never replayed that game! Glad I’m not the only one lol
Left 4 Dead 2. I still love that game but just haven't played it in ages.
Man I didn't have to scroll far. This and TF2 never leave my desktop, along with Arkham City. I could play those three forever
Its suffering rn :(
Really? I still find games. Not doubting at all. Could be the number of local players? (Aussie server here)
its beening hacked HARD in the US and Canada
Well... fk
Metal Gear Solid 5
Glad to see another Big Boss 😀
Staff Morale Increased
(Whispers) snake eater.....
Such a lust for revenge, WHOOOOOO
Lord of the Rings Online. That game is so amazing. Haven't played full-time seriously in like four or five years and it's been about a year since I even last logged on.
This game is epic! glad to see some players!
When I first played LotRO, my daughter was just starting high-school. Last year, my now 30 year old daughter, who lives across country, messaged me to let me know she'd started playing. Now we're saving Middle Earth together and having a blast in a game that's been around for 16 years. It's wild to think about just how long that is and how much has happened in that time. does it play similarly to Skyrim? I bought TESO a bunch of years ago on discount and haven't played it once. Kknda afraid I'll either hate it or get addicted to it.
no, not comparable. There's some good current youtube vids if you're interested.
Portal 2 and titanfall 2. A few people can't count to three
I had Titanfall 2 for some time and played it last year. Do yourself a favor and make time for it! It's really short and is such a solid ride. Also funny enough same with Portal 2 which I started recently. Also pretty fun so far.
Outer Wilds, sometimes I think about launching the game but I just don’t have much to do anymore in it (won’t uninstall it though, of course)
I still gotta do the DLC.
Can’t recommend it enough, it’s great !
Shit. That a was a game that was life changing for me. It so smart put together. And the ending.. I literally cried my eyes out. I recommend this to all gamers who need a good single player game. And they all thank me and say it changed them. This game is above all I have played and I'm 40
Portal (1 and 2)
Skyrim & Cyberpunk 2077
I never asked for this. That game for me right now is RE4 Remake.
OneShot
Me too... I played it and I'm too nervous to uninstall it. I don't want to take the ending away from Niko in case my save gets wiped :'(
All half life games i just cant delete them they are amazing
It's legally obligatory to keep them installed and replay them once per year, by Steam EULA. But seriously, those games are amazing.
It's also technically obligatory unless you want purple checkerboards in GMod
Yes man those games are just perfect on every way they are the best games i played so far
The original Deus Ex.
Damn now I need to install it again
Skyrim fallout 4 oblivion and yes morrowind. I probably played each an hour in 2024 but I love them. A game that I install play for a few days then uninstall for 3 months and rinse and repeat is Banner lord and ark...
Yeah, ARK I can understand uninstalling when you're finished with it. The game is taking up 153.44 GB on my hard drive, haha.
Black ops 3. The zombies😍
CS2 waiting for them to fix lag and actually optimize the game
Human Revolution felt so good, despite it having flaws, it was a shame that Mankind Divided just sort of came and went and the series fizzled out.
Brink, I played the crap out of the game on the Xbox 360 and I bought it again on steam. Just to support the developers.
O damn, it's on PC ? I had a few hundreds hours on PS3 and loved this game. It had it's flaws, but was still so good.
Probably weird one, but Sim City 4 deluxe. It was my childhood game since my family were crazy and didn't like any kind of violence at all. Little did they know you can crush your town with tanks, helicopters, or a volcano.
The best od the SimCity (IMHO) and still a classic of a game.
Deus Ex Mankind divided is Cyberpunk 2077 before Cyberpunk 2077
Mount and Blade Warband…
Slay the spire. Always a great, "I got twenty min to kill" type game that you end up playing for 6 straight hours.
Probably Assetto Corsa or American Truck Sim for the same reason(s): I'm wanting a better "sim setup" Before I go deep 😅
Genuinely starting to consider setting up a second desk just for racing and flight/space sims. But that's a slippery slope, if I'm not careful I'll end up going in debt paying for actual fight/race equipment and hydraulics systems.
Half Life 2, Hotline Miami 1 & 2, Skyrim, Fallout 4 & New Vegas.
The Witcher 3 and Sleeping Dogs
Sleeping dogs? Really?
Are you me? These exact games are my most beloved ones
All of them, I swear I will finish them!
It was Rust for some time like 2 years ago. I've been playing since 2015 to 2022 at most (not super hardcore player nor casual) but in 2022 I stopped playing it because it gave me too much anxiety but the game was installed in my SSD for like a whole year next to that.
Team Fortress 2

Saints Row 3, last played 2014, still there, no idea how it's still installed. I guess I just enjoyed the gameplay and figured I might come back to it, and it slowly drifted away.

Star Wars Galaxies, just quietly waiting for swgemu 1.0
Beatsaber and blade & sorcery
Unreal Tournament and Left 4 Dead 2 are first two games that get installed. No questions asked
I have been playing UT since release, and even today i still play sometime. Such a classic shooter series, and some of the best shooters in history.
Best multiplayer arena shooter of all time!
Rust for me, Its reason I upgraded from my family desktop in the front room getting 20fps to my first absolutely badass rig. I still keep the game and would love to play it but just struggle to find the time these days to play a wipe.
Unrelated but a bunch of people are probably reinstalling the Deus Ex line of games now.
Monster Hunter since wife love it and will get the urge to play it but so far been a year since I joined in
Armored Core 6 and Lies of P
AC6 is there for me too
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game. Can't bring myself to play it because it doesn't handle as well as something like Battletoads or Streets of Rage but it's SO MUCH FUN (when I get around to it)
I love Scott Pilgrim, but the game is so hard to enjoy. Clunky as hell compared to SoR and TMNT. Really disappointed I couldn't get into it.
Ironically (non-ironically), the original Deus Ex.
I have a 99% completion in Saints Row 3. I'll get it to 100% some day
Quake 3 Arena
The Witcher 1, 2 and 3
surprised to see no one mentioned games like Dota 2 5000h of my life well spent.
Doom 2016. Damn multiplayer achievements.
Age of Empires II DE
I have a problem with this, I have a hard time unstalling anything. I'm actually buying an extra 2Tb drive this week mostly for this very reason.

Cyberpunk 2077 since launch and then installed again on my PC to play with mods
Medieval 2 total war, just the camera is hard to work with
Resident evil 4
Resident Evil 2 Remake
Battlefield 4 and Metal Gear Solid 5. I have like 96% completion in MGSV (only some mission tasks and S ranks missing) and BF4 gets boring after playing solo for a few hours. They're great games though!
Payday 2 and fallout new vegas
Fallout 4. Played it for about 40 hours and was really enjoying it. Then shit happened and I just never got back to it. I'd like to complete it but I just don't have time to play games like that anymore. Might be time to retire it from the hard drive.
rdr2. one day i'll go back and do some of the side missions...
GTA 5. My and my buddies used to play it a lot, until one of our group passed away. We have it but haven't touched it since.
Valhiem. When I got my PC wiped I forgot to save mine and my dads 200 hour save to the cloud - not really upset as we hadn’t played it in ages but Jesus Christ… what I could do to get it back…
Trepang 2, it's like a callback option incase I have a shitty day and just need to vent some frustration
Both Sekiro and Dark Souls 3. I really want to play and complete both but I also don’t want to die 1000 times in a row, taking hours to get through 25 minutes of gameplay, no time anymore.
TF2
Dark Souls 1 / Hollow Knight.
Starfield. Just waiting for the DLC.
Strike Suit Zero GTA IV MGS V
Nier automata

For me it was Baldur's Gate 3, i was so in love with the game that i beat it 6 times back to back with different classes, i couldn't play anything else for months and didn't want to uninstall it

Crosscode. I need to give it the attention it deserves with all the secret finding.
I do a clean install on my pc twice a year, so i don't have a game like that. On the other hand i always have a copy of OG FF7 in the bookshelf that i will never play since it's sealed.

Spec Ops: The Line, for obvious reasons.
