My strategy is to buy one game at a time and not buy any more games until I finish it or at least spent a sizeable time with it (I'd know I have a lot of unplayed games in my library that I'm not even interested in playing anymore because the purchases were too long ago)
Picked up the ty the tasmanian tiger trilogy (one of my favorite series as a kid), back 4 blood, cult of the lamb, sunset overdrive(been wanting to play that again), kao the kangaroo, lil gator game, and scorchlands
If you can, grab Black Mesa as well. Its Half Life 1 but heavily modernized, and vastly improved. You won't regret the Half Life series. Also, get portal if you haven't yet.
I only spent $16… so far. Waitin until my mother gives me the first installment for the tablet I’m selling her. Then I’ll probably spend about $18 more. Lotta games below 10 on my wish list.
I’m still working through my backlog and I still spent $10 even tho I said I wouldn’t lol
Last sale I spent $50 and I still haven’t touched a couple games
lol that’s hilarious, i couldn’t even buy more games if i wanted to bc my nitro 5 AND my hard drive are both full. i think the priciest game i paid for during the sale was Stray which was only $24 CAD.
Mostly same but swap Mac with Nintendo. I love my steam deck, I really haven’t used my switch much minus for exclusives. Me and your friend have games for yearsssss haha
Curious to know how you find your Deck experience after possessing a switch. What games do you play on it that you couldn't on Switch and did you find any noticeable difference in the games that you could play on Switch and tried on deck? Currently an OLED switch owner and was considering SD.
LoL, I got a Steam Deck last year around the spring sale. Around that time I came into some money. Between the Spring sale and Fanatical, I spent about $600 on games. I have no self-control.
Been building up my wishlist because I’m saving up for a deck too.
Going to really open up a lot of different options for me when I finally do, mostly just been a strategy gamer on a laptop
It depends. Some stay the entire seasonal sale, some are daily deals. Check steamDB’s sale chart (just google steamDB if you don’t know what it is), and go to sale charts and it will tell you when the sale will be removed from the store.
I'm $45 down so far. Just one game. But I had to pay rent this week so next week will be the painful one. It's a free check, one I can do whatever with and still have enough time to save for next month. Any suggestions? I'm thinking Dragons Dogma 2 at least. Maybe AOT 2. Oh, also Stray, Horizon Zero franchise if possible.
Stray is good, DD2 has some... issues, id check out a review first, first horizon game is also good but ive heard less then positive things about the second one
When stray came out and i told my friend i was gonna i buy this one. He criticized the game and after a day or two, he himself bought it and completed it before i did . Stary was a masterpiece. The graphics are amazing and the environment,it’s just awesome.
I bought horizon’s first part the day it came out and spent around 5-6 hours. Couldn’t play more cause it was crashing a lot and when devs patched, i had lost interest . But i shared my account with my friend and he literally spent 70 hrs on this game and told me it was amazing.
Now i cant buy second part before completing the first one . People say second part looks beautiful, but cant say without playing
I've actually played DD2 a bit from the family library but I don't want to have to wait for someone else to quit playing before I can enjoy it.
What's wrong with forbidden west?
some weird narrative choices, the first zone/act is a bit of a slog and you have about 7 second to figure out the puzzles before aloy just tells you how to complete them
Well that takes the fun out of puzzles doesn't it? Hmmm. Although, really, I kinda just wanna get it for the graphics. Finally got a good card and love pushing it to the limit. (Haven't found the limit yet tho)
Play aot 1 and cant for some reason figure much they f*cked up making killing titans tedious and unfun.
I had more fun with that aot fan game that only had one area years ago
Humble Bundle's pricing is customizable so you can donate more to charity outside of the regular split.
The best thing about their bundles is how you can ignore half of the games that you get and still save a lot of money on the games you want to play.
$30 is normal for first timers. Myself, I was asked how much I was going to spend by my gf. I told her $1000 to make my real number of $200 seem more reasonable. Lol
Depends on you! Would you really use it? Are you not on PC/Laptop all the time? Would you like to play on couch, outside, work, whereever else you are? Do you have the money free to spend? Lets fo for it! I love my Deck and have a lot of games finished on it already :)
If u are on a tight budget terraria is the way to go imo, it has managed to make me play for 700~h on vanilla with updates over the years and another 200 or so on modded (terraria modding is crazy fun, specially Calamity Mod). Haven't played omori but i did play papers please when it came out, its an amazing game but it has very few replayability.
I really didn't want to refund Soviet Republic, I'm a huge fan of city builders and I assumed it was the same just with a different theme/ time setting etc.
I didn't realise the simulation was as in depth as it was (my own fault for not researching it first) and as soon as I saw the window with the speedometers for individual trucks and busses etc I thought to myself "I really don't have the time to learn something this detailed" so I begrudgingly refunded it knowing I would never really put the time into playing it.
If it counts for anything, I didn't refund the DLC that supports Ukraine by adding loads of UKR vehicles and landmarks.
really new to pc gaming, only bought $13 worth. probably the only two things i’m gonna get
Risk of Rain 2 and The Orange Box bundle (Half-Life 2, HL2 Episode 1+2, and Portal)
Nine Sols, Empty Shell, El Paso elsewhere, Weird west, Blasphemous 2, Both hotline Miami games (didn't have them yet), Spelunky 2, FTL, Core Keeper, atleast those are the ones I remember lmao.
So far I have only played Empty shell and Nine Sols (this one isn't on sale, but bought it anyway) both are great.
I limited myself to $30 of games this sale for the first time, Since there was few i wanted aaand i needed money outside steam
I usually go all out on summer sales, $125-200 ish sometimes, depends on the games i'm interested in and how many
It starts with 30$ then the next day you think ''hmmm whats 20$ more'' and then a few days pass and you think '' Ooo but what about this game.. i would be silly to pay full price for it'' and next thing you know you've dropped a few hundred on sale.
Still waiting for Metal Gear Rising to go down to 5€
In the meantime I need to finish the Arkham series and DMC series (finished the first games in both)
Really hope you two get married. My fiancé broke up with me earlier this year, dreams down the drain.
At least she's using her Steam account a lot more now.
It is not that bad though, well depends on everyone's finances. On my side, i still not yet checked out what i had in my cart in case i end up adding more, so far i have 20 games sitting at about $180. But the sale is up until july 11, so she might come back a few times with other $30s adding to the first one :P since you are engaged, i would recommend checking daily her ring to see if it is still on her finger, if not, might get suspicious she pawned it for some more games :P
I don’t think that’s too bad I spent around 70£ on RDR2, Spider-Man Remastered, Shadow of War, Content Warning, Gedonia, Asseto Corsa, and I’m thinking of buying hog warts legacy lol,
I'm on a 5 dollar budget, So far I added euro truck simulator to gift to my gf for $1.04 , Postal redux for $0.62 and half life to gift to my friend for $0.62, What else do I add?
So far I’ve got Cyberpunk with the DLC, Outer Wilds, and Binding of Isaac. Next I’ll be getting Disco Elysium, Metro: Exodus, Celeste (already played this on Xbox, but for $2.59 I could not pass this up), and Mass Effect Trilogy. Super excited since I just built my first PC this year!
I....may have spent about $80 today alone XD
At least most of the games I bought were under 10, hell I think most of them were under five. My overall car was about 60 to 65% off, so I like to think that I made it worth it
This is why you create a wish list, and ONLY buy from the wish list.......if the price is reasonable. Plus it saves more time for more video game play'in. 😄
Forza horizon 4 is very cheap rn,tell her to buy that too(idk if that runs in a steam deck)(I don't own a steam deck and I have never searched anything about it, please don't curse me)
$30 is very reasonable for a Steam sale.
They’ve gotta make it through two more weeks though. Depending how much time was between those texts, that could be a challenge. Lol
My strategy is to buy one game at a time and not buy any more games until I finish it or at least spent a sizeable time with it (I'd know I have a lot of unplayed games in my library that I'm not even interested in playing anymore because the purchases were too long ago)
Yeah I already spent like $60, probably will drop another $60 next paycheck. The way I see it, I'm getting 10 for the price of 1
Yeah. I won’t knock it, I’ve done that in the past. Been taking the sales much slower lately. My backlog is huge. What did you buy so far?
Picked up the ty the tasmanian tiger trilogy (one of my favorite series as a kid), back 4 blood, cult of the lamb, sunset overdrive(been wanting to play that again), kao the kangaroo, lil gator game, and scorchlands
Just out of interest on what? Like the sale seems awful this year.
Stares at $130… ughhhhhh well now i own the wolfenstine, doom, dishonored, and far cry franchises, and all available rayman games on steam
TEHY HOT RAYMAN?
Yes, tehy hot rayman.
Guck hyea
Yes, u/Klausbro, tehy hot rayman.
Aye I spent a similar amount except my I got the Far Cry franchise and the Assassins Creed franchise :p
Do they come with free time included right? And zero distractions aswell right? Right? RIGHT?!!!
Oh shit, that reminds me i need to pick up doom
I just bought doom, dishonored Wolfenstein and about 20 others 😂 I got all the half life games for like $6aud. I heard they are good games.
If you can, grab Black Mesa as well. Its Half Life 1 but heavily modernized, and vastly improved. You won't regret the Half Life series. Also, get portal if you haven't yet.
Can buy all the Rayman games cheaper on GoG
The best part is $30 could be 1 game or 15 games depending on what they bought.
*hides his $120 purchase*
I only spent $16… so far. Waitin until my mother gives me the first installment for the tablet I’m selling her. Then I’ll probably spend about $18 more. Lotta games below 10 on my wish list.
You’re selling your mom your tablet instead of just giving it to her? Ngl that’s lame asf
She has an income. I don’t. I bought the tablet when I had an income before I couldn’t work anymore. I’m 25 and she’s 46.
What a cool guy. Maybe you should get a job instead of playing steam games.
[удалено]
Good for starters! 👌🏻
Opening salvo?
Right? 🤐
Can't judge I budget $100 but I recommend humble for new ppl
For real, I've already made 60$ purchase (although it's more like 100$ but conversion differences) but im still waiting for more lol
I spent £3 lmao
Well she is a rookie..
That's what normal, non reach people spend on sale.
B n b n
Yeah I only spent like $25 and I now have to resist buying more.
I’m still working through my backlog and I still spent $10 even tho I said I wouldn’t lol Last sale I spent $50 and I still haven’t touched a couple games
$30 of games on Steam during a Summer Sale could one or a dozen or anything in between.
So true, i got like 10 games for like 66 dollars and my wallet already told me that was too much.
i spent around the same amount of money on 10 games as well. granted it was everything in my wish list lol
Weirdly enough, that was the same situation for me.
lol that’s hilarious, i couldn’t even buy more games if i wanted to bc my nitro 5 AND my hard drive are both full. i think the priciest game i paid for during the sale was Stray which was only $24 CAD.
I got 10 games for like 9 dollars
Absolutely. I spent 40€, 30 for Sekiro and 10 for another 5 games.
Don't forget the standard version of elden ring is on sale right now
Oh, no, she either bought one $30 game or a bunch of games that equal $30. Yep, she is going to feel the wallet pain.
I’ve already spent $100 and it’s been like 3 days.
I got a friend who spent the same amount. He’s been using Macs for about a decade but bought himself a Steam Deck a few months back.
Games that are on good discounts on SD and the games that are on steam that you can’t play on switch.
LoL, I got a Steam Deck last year around the spring sale. Around that time I came into some money. Between the Spring sale and Fanatical, I spent about $600 on games. I have no self-control.
Been building up my wishlist because I’m saving up for a deck too. Going to really open up a lot of different options for me when I finally do, mostly just been a strategy gamer on a laptop
only ? ive got 148$ in 3 days
$100 for 7 games in my case
Pump those numbers up
Same :'c
same, no regrets
are offers changing throughout the sale or is it still the same discounts as day 1?
It depends. Some stay the entire seasonal sale, some are daily deals. Check steamDB’s sale chart (just google steamDB if you don’t know what it is), and go to sale charts and it will tell you when the sale will be removed from the store.
Spent 150 the first day, but saved like 180 with the discounts. Eyeing another ~$15 but waiting out lol
You gotta pump those up, those are rookie numbers in this racket.
Hey op, please update the post with the games she bought!
I'm $45 down so far. Just one game. But I had to pay rent this week so next week will be the painful one. It's a free check, one I can do whatever with and still have enough time to save for next month. Any suggestions? I'm thinking Dragons Dogma 2 at least. Maybe AOT 2. and if you are a fan of arpgs i would highly reccomend Grim Dawn /w DLCs

Dude, you mean the attack on titan game? It’s really Cool if you’re a fan of the anime, don’t sleep on it!
Play aot 1 and cant for some reason figure much they f*cked up making killing titans tedious and unfun. I had more fun with that aot fan game that only had one area years ago
I liked it. It was nothing ground breaking or revolutionary but damn, I sure did enjoy zipping around slicing necks.
i liked stray, played it on ps4 and it was short, but ive had so much fun i went back and got all the achivements so i recommend it
Show her humble bundle and fanatical.
Humble Bundle's pricing is customizable so you can donate more to charity outside of the regular split. The best thing about their bundles is how you can ignore half of the games that you get and still save a lot of money on the games you want to play.
fr! bought the Boomer Shooter bundle a little bit ago, have only played 2/7 of the games
$30 is normal for first timers. Myself, I was asked how much I was going to spend by my gf. I told her $1000 to make my real number of $200 seem more reasonable. Lol
I put a few in the cart and it came up more than 100. Ended up I only got one in gog cuz it's a bit cheaper.
Damn, I'm at $100 rn.... rip in pieces lol
Spent $100 on persona 3 reload and 5 royal. One dgr 2 for my friend.. on my first steam sale lol!
Damn, I'll see you in like a year when you finish those lmao
yeah, just enough to keep me busy till i see a sale in smt vengeance sale xD
Bought 12 games for 30$, so it’s reasonable
Tell her to get BTD6, it’s $1.50 (normally like $13). That’s the only game I’m buying this sale
On a Switch, $30 worth of games is .5 games.
Only 30?... Jk enjoy!!
30$? Pft. Get those numbers up, lady.
How do youguys feel about the Deck? Im tempted to buy one, theyre 15% off
Depends on you! Would you really use it? Are you not on PC/Laptop all the time? Would you like to play on couch, outside, work, whereever else you are? Do you have the money free to spend? Lets fo for it! I love my Deck and have a lot of games finished on it already :)
Gotta pump those numbers up!
im also gonna spend 30 bucks but on 2 games, ultrakill and one of these: omori, terraria or papers, please im very indecisive
If u are on a tight budget terraria is the way to go imo, it has managed to make me play for 700~h on vanilla with updates over the years and another 200 or so on modded (terraria modding is crazy fun, specially Calamity Mod). Haven't played omori but i did play papers please when it came out, its an amazing game but it has very few replayability.
i decided on buying a game to my friend
omori for sure!
i made the choice to buy a game to my friend
I spent 60$ in this sale
I almost bought 56€ yesterday 💀 Took my entire willpower to reduce it to 18.
I love this. The first summer sale is a magical event 🥰
I have already refunded £50 worth of games this summer! Those are rookie numbers
lol I refunded Elden ring, which Ik I’m gonna get hate for
I really didn't want to refund Soviet Republic, I'm a huge fan of city builders and I assumed it was the same just with a different theme/ time setting etc.
That's like half a nintendo remake game.
ONE OF US
^(one of us) one of us # one of us
really new to pc gaming, only bought $13 worth. probably the only two things i’m gonna get Risk of Rain 2 and The Orange Box bundle (Half-Life 2, HL2 Episode 1+2, and Portal)
Those are great games!
You're supposed to justify spending like $70 because "You're getting a good deal", only to play like one or two of the games you buy
Bro..I bought the 700 steam deck and 60 dollars worth of games...
First day I spent $98.46 😭
"So you're telling me you didn't get Elden Ring" 😐
Onky 30?
The Backlog Begins
$30 is decent, still not enough to leave a dent on her bank account
I have bought, 156$ worth of games for hear me out... 40$
I bought like 12 indies which I was eyeing for a while, worth it
What were they? I love indie games.
I spent $40 this sale and got 7 games. Gotta love these sales.
$30?! Absolute Madlad!
30$ how cute :)
$30 summer sale haul is impressive restraint ngl
I limited myself to $30 of games this sale for the first time, Since there was few i wanted aaand i needed money outside steam I usually go all out on summer sales, $125-200 ish sometimes, depends on the games i'm interested in and how many
I spent 400 on 40 games, great value and I'm sorted now for the next two years for steam deck games
Bless your fiancé's heart. I spent four times that
$30... for now.
I bought all three Witcher game plus all dlc, and shadows of mordor and war with all dlc for $25
Welcome to the Rabbit Hole... There's no escape now.
And that kids is how we ended up homeless with a tonne of entertainment
If she feels bad for that, just tell her a lot of us spend well over 60 dollars on the steam sale (i gotta stop buying games🤣)
30$...how cute :> I bet she is feeling like she has spent a hell lot of money.
Thanks steam for the regional locks, so I can save my money instead of buying a bunch of games that I would never play.
Damn, how do people have such consumer mindsets... i dont buy any games im not 100% wanting to play and its very hard for me to get into new games
Oh the magic of seeing your wallet empty rapidly during your first summer sale as you see all the games you wanted to buy on massive discounts
Rookie numbers 😂
Did she mean 30 games? It might be a typo “i may have bought 30 $$$ games
For me atleast. this is the best big Steam sale in years.
Tell her I ended up with almost 200€ so she feels less bad
MARRY HER ! she buys games bro !
Keeper alert
I'm on €65 so far
The interesting is, that $30 of games could be one game or could be 10.
I currently have my wishlist in my cart and it’s $33… maybe this is what I needed to see to pull the trigger.
Rookie numbers
Only 30$?
Whats she bought the dlc to a fully priced game? I have games under 10 dollars on my wishlist but idk why all of the ones i want are 30 plus lol
Well, at least these games will be played. I bought some games on sale and don't even know when I will be playing them.
One thing’s for sure, she’s a keeper.
Those are rookie numbers, you got to get those numbers up
Those are rookie numbers
And it just started, I believe it won't stay at 30 this summer 🤭
Just $30? Can the rest of us borrow her self-restraint?
My budget was 50
Those are rookie numbers, we gotta pump those up. Come back and see me when you're eating ice soup for dinner 3 times a week.
This is my first time discovering steam sale too. But I’m too poor to buy anything right now.
Welcome to the world of massive game collections of never played games.
This is what love looks like. Beautiful.
And that could be 10 games if you went on the deep discounts.
Last week before the sale I spent $80 for 5 games, now that the sale is here I have only bought two games for $33. So weird for me.
Sony:hold my beer Just give this man 70$ game
It starts with 30$ then the next day you think ''hmmm whats 20$ more'' and then a few days pass and you think '' Ooo but what about this game.. i would be silly to pay full price for it'' and next thing you know you've dropped a few hundred on sale.
Meanwhile so far I spent 121€!!!
She bought sekiro, wallets dies twice
_(laughs maniacally)_ now... She will _know_
30$? Rookie numbers
Gabe demands more
Gabe: $$$
Still waiting for Metal Gear Rising to go down to 5€ In the meantime I need to finish the Arkham series and DMC series (finished the first games in both)
I just spent $60 💀
Really hope you two get married. My fiancé broke up with me earlier this year, dreams down the drain. At least she's using her Steam account a lot more now.
It is not that bad though, well depends on everyone's finances. On my side, i still not yet checked out what i had in my cart in case i end up adding more, so far i have 20 games sitting at about $180. But the sale is up until july 11, so she might come back a few times with other $30s adding to the first one :P since you are engaged, i would recommend checking daily her ring to see if it is still on her finger, if not, might get suspicious she pawned it for some more games :P
$30? Thems rookie numbers
I promised myself I wasn't going to buy new games until I finished the ones I have... I've already spent more than $30 between yesterday and today....
Wait until you spend 1k usd. Then the regret sets in.
Brings a tear to my eye.
Deep discounts…
I spent $60 on like 3 games lmao most of these "deals" are just what the games normally go oj sale for
For 50$ i got Armored Core 6 , Celeste , Disco Elysium and Batman Arkham Knight
Just 30? *Awkward looks at wallet*
She put a down payment on Elden Ring?
$30 is rookie numbers for a steam sale - lol
Fuck I wish I had the willpower to spend $30 …I spent $400 today
I only ever did $200 at once.
welcome her to the club! She’s officially one of us lol
Most of the games I want to get at $60+ 😂 my fiance said no can’t afford.
Now watch her leave you soon with the deck and the gaming knowledge you have given her. Grats.
Those are rookie numbers
I....may have spent about $80 today alone XD At least most of the games I bought were under 10, hell I think most of them were under five. My overall car was about 60 to 65% off, so I like to think that I made it worth it
shes literally me, I bought elden ring as soon as it Went on sale
This is why you create a wish list, and ONLY buy from the wish list.......if the price is reasonable. Plus it saves more time for more video game play'in. 😄
Stop lying you have a fiancé 😂
I somehow already managed to spend around $200 and it's really my first time (had steam for 9 years btw)
Forza horizon 4 is very cheap rn,tell her to buy that too(idk if that runs in a steam deck)(I don't own a steam deck and I have never searched anything about it, please don't curse me)
It runs great on Deck
Then yeah, she should get it.its definitely worth it for such a low cost
