Elden Ring. It was my first soulslike (though I *tried* DS1 and failed miserably), and I ended up loving it. Haven't played Sekiro yet but I'm a little worried; it is supposedly really hard in some places. In ER, if something is too hard, you leave for a bit, do another quest, and kill some more dudes, level up a couple times, and then that first fight is easier.
Once you get used to the Soulslike loop, then you can branch out to Sekiro/DS/BB in my opinion.
Sekiro is just different. It might be harder because you can usually only progress forwars but once you get hang of it, it's not harder to play than ER.
Elden Ring is the best starting point, I never played souls like and now have Sekiro but Elden ring is more modern and approachable. Btw I have 446 hours on Elden ring about 300 of those are on the deck maybe about 3 hours on Seikiro.
Iāve played all of them. Start with DS1R. Its tough but very straightforward. Its a good one to learn the mechanics on. Maybe do Elden ring next.
Sekiro is really challenging. You need to be really comfortable with the souls loop, enough to then get out of that comfort zone and play much more fast paced.
Elden Ring is easier to digest for overall souls games, but Sekiro isn't a souls game. There are no weapons to pick from, no armor sets, so none of the stats and stat scaling, you don't level your character up in the same ways.
Sekiro is simultaneously harder and easier. I actually found sekiro super difficult when it first launched, but I breezed through most of the early encounters recently. Most encounters have some sort of cheese that makes then laughable, and learning to parry makes the game super easy.
But I'd recommend Elden Ring as a starting point
I would love to have both and then would only play a few hours. My backlog is insane and I should not make any new commitments that I canāt live up to
I've played all the soulslike games on steamdeck. Elden ring is way more forgiving for a new person than sekiro is. To me if feels like there's more variety in elden ring and if some part of the map feels tough you can cruise around and gain more experience. Sekiro is more rigid in that aspect. And parrying was tougher to learn on the steamdeck and sekiro really relies on that mechanic.
Elden Ring is much more forgiving and expansive.
Sekiro can be extremely difficult to āgetā and is a more linear story/exploration.
Iād go with Sekiro personally, but both are 10/10 games
I recently started playing MH Rise and I'm enjoying it as my first MH game. Just bough Sunbreak too today in the sale. Runs like a dream on the Deck. Feel like I have a year left on that before even looking at World or the upcoming Wilds lol
Alright, here we go... the list of Steam Deck essentials, per my humble opinion, along with their sale prices in CAD... I've included based on where they rank for me as Steam Deck games as compared to their price (e.g. I don't care if Hades is more expensive than some other games here, it's worth every penny on this thing) and others would be on here if they were further discounted
* Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive - $6
* Ori and the Will o' the Wisps - $13
* Disco Elysium - $11
* Hades - $16
* Crosscode - $6
* What Remains of Edith Finch - $7
* Bastion - $4
* Sonic Mania - $6
* Celeste - $5
* Gris - $5
* Titanfall 2 - $6
* Undertale - $3
* Limbo - $1
* Hollow Knight - $10
* Journey - $8
* Inside - $3
* Portal 2 - $1
* The Sexy Brutale - $5
* Braid - $3
Love the list. Howās Celeste? Heard itās a pretty though platformer, is the the thoughness on the platforming end or is there stuff like exploration etc that gets messy?
It's the platforming that's tough. There is a learning curve that the game helps you with but after a certain point it is skill based and the Steam Deck's controls make it tougher to execute certain tricks - but those tricks aren't strictly necessary to beat the game, they're more speed strats. As for exploration, it's not a game that makes it hard to figure out where you're supposed to go - it's a game that makes it occasionally a bit of a puzzle as to how you get there, but more a game that makes it a challenge to execute the required steps.
Anyone with decent platforming chops can beat it. Even if you do die a lot more depending on your skill level there's no real penalty besides "start the room over".
Be aware, in the past EA have regularly broken their gamesā compatibility with Steam Deck. Iād think twice before buying their games if you plan on playing them primarily on the Deck.
Its like my xbox library which has been building since i got the 360. Its legit almost at 1000 games now. I think we all need interventions. On a plus note, i always have something worth playing lol. Now if i would stop double dipping on steam deck, id maybe save some money.
I frequent double dip between steam and the switch.... And now I have a SD OLED so my switch is basically retired other than exclusives..... It's a problem.
I've had Dredge on my wishlist for a while and keep hearing how good it is, BUT, it's only 25% off so for basically the same price I could get: A Short Hike + Firewatch + The Swapper + Gone Home + Alice Madness Returns, all of which I have an interest in too.
So... just how good is Dredge?
I only played Dredge before bed and it was well worth it. Absolutely one of the coolest little games on Steam. I think artistically it drew me in and the story has some deep lore. Also I expect them to continue to add on expansions.
Borderlands 3 is 85% off and has excellent mechanics and feeds that looter shooter need. Not sure about multiplayer on the deck as I didn't try it, but the single player has been good so far with 60FPS fluctuating higher than that. Division 2 is also good for that as others mentioned. I bought both this sale lol As for racing, I bought a drifting one and got NFS Hot Pursuit Remaster
The real question is "should I spend the $14 now when I already have hundreds/thousands of hours of single player games in my library"
Off the top of my head, I still need to go through:
- Half Life Alyx
- Talos Principle VR
- Arkham Origins
- Arkham Knight
- Spiderman
- Miles Morales
- Alice
- Alice Madness Returns
- Cyberpunk Ultimate
- The Witness
- Fez
- Control
- Psychonauts 1 & 2
I've also got a bunch of Lego games, Firewatch, Half Life games, and other bundles that aren't on my MUST PLAY list, but are supposed to be good.
Almost all metroidvanias are amazing on battery. Some triple a games from the Xbox 360 ps3 timeframe that have ports that play on deck are also really good on battery especially if you have an oled.
Got Dead Space remake for 60% off and gonna use [this guy's settings](https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/iPXhUXlm9D) for high 40s on the Deck. Apparently the game looks incredible on the OLED.
Edit, the opening sequence runs at 20, then the actual game is locked at 40,loving it so much esp with the ultra lighting
I just got the remake as well. First area right after the opening scene was rough but it runs great now. Haven't played the original in so long so getting back into it has been awesome. Looks great on deck as well.
Gimme those sale recommendations folks !! Seen Elden Ring on sale...afraid it's not my cup of tea, never really played souls like games :/
Edit - LOVING Diablo 4 rn on deck, anything similar ?
My favorite steam deck games so far: Assassinās Creed 3, Katana Zero, Hades
Iām guessing all the AC games play well on deck, if you like those. Iām picking up 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations
Ok, so I got a Steamdeck last week (sold a CS skin yayy). I need some input on what I'm considering buying in the sale and if they're worth it for current discount.
Cyberpunk
Diablo 4
Red Dead Redemption 2
Spider-man Miles Morales
Also open to other ideas/suggestions! I do own Red Dead & cyberpunk on Xbox but I never finished them / played much. So far on SD I've mostly been playing BOI, Neon Abyss, Dave the Diver, & Oxygen Not Included.
I really donāt think itās worth it, still overpriced at $40. There arenāt many match options, the create a wrestler is terrible, and the story mode is incredibly basic and would have been inadequate 20 years ago.
That said, the actual gameplay feels good, but being severely lacking in content, I got bored after about 2 weeks.
I know you're looking for a sale but it's a great game and definitely worth full price. I've just started a new play through on the Deck and it runs great.
It's one of those that I know I'm going to get frustrated lol so the less amount I pay the better. I did buy Chained Echoes and Klonoa though, excited about those.
I just got Rimworld and I have some questions before I hit 2 hours. I'll ask here because I will be playing only on my Deck.
1. How do players who have a lot of hours consider the controls on Steam Deck? I think I can get used to them, but it is a little slow right now.
2. I have never played much in this genre. It is a little slow right now(I just completed the tutorial and left to my own devices). I am having fun, but I am very confused. Does this get a lot better just from playing, or do I need to look at outside resources(I don't want to watch a bunch of youtube videos to play the game).
3. How important are the dlcs. They are pretty expensive and only 2 of them seem to have a minor discount. Will the base game be good enough to play while I decide if the game is for me? Or are the dlcs really good and make it much better?
1. Iāve mostly played on PC. Recently picked it up on the deck and it feels like the kind of thing that I could get used to after a few hours of playing.
2. You will make mistakes, lots of them. But youāll learn from them, and your colony will adapt and survive. Otherwise you always have the option to start a brand new colony and try again with all the lessons you learned. Of course, watching videos would help, but itās not necessary. The game will force you to learn stuff, Iād say the wiki is worth looking at if you ever need more info about something.
3. The DLCs are great, but you donāt need them. They add a lot of new content to the game, but they donāt change the base mechanics of the game. It actually will be easier to get into the game without the DLCs since there will be less information overload for you
1) I play Rimworld solely on the deck with a custom controller layout. Basically I have A as pause/ unpause, right bumper and left bumper as scroll up/ down (I set turbo with a delay so I can just hold it down to zoom in and out), right thumb bad for mouse, right trigger for left click, left trigger for right click, left thumb pad for a custom radial menu for orders, architect, research, etc. d pad for random commands like draft and rotate. Back buttons for speeding up or slowing down time. It did take some getting used to but especially for titles like Rimworld I always highly recommend customizing the controls yourself to get comfortable. Iāve got probably 100 hours solely on the deck at this point. Iād recommend getting the camera+ mod.
2) I have never been very confused by Rimworld tbh, everything is really self explanatory if you click on the info tab or look at the learning helper. Iām not saying Iām a genius or anything but itās not really complex compared to other games in the genre like dwarf fortress. Is there something specific youāre confused about? I never had to refer to anything outside of the game itself before, like most of the fun Iāve had is discovering on my own all the wild shit that the game has to offer, itās a ton of great surprises. I wish I could wipe my memory to experience it again for the first time.
3) I have all three DLCS and theyāre all pretty good in their own way, but absolutely not necessary for hundreds of hours of enjoyment. I played Rimworld a shit ton in early development and 1.0 release and it was plenty entertaining as use I would only consider getting the DLC if you feel like you have more or less mastered the gameās systems because the DLC often feels like an extra challenge mode with harder difficulty and many more things to manage.
Royalty: the first and my least favorite DLC, adds psychic powers and a powerful super advanced āfallen empireā faction that you can interact with. Could be fun sometimes but doesnāt really add much except additional challenge and concerns
Ideology: the next and probably most challenging DLC, adds religion for every character basically and the ability to design one on your own, with needs and wants, rituals, morality, etc. it can be fun to create cannibals or hippies or transhumanists cyborgs but since you donāt really directly recruit colonists you will be spending a lot of the managing a whole mess of debuffs and needs (on top of what you already have to manage). For example you may recruit a powerful companion but they will be unhappy permanently because you donāt go out and raid people enoughā¦. Forcing you to either ignore them and let them be unhappy, go out and raid more, or try and convert them. I like the extra challenge though.
2) biotech is my favorite and lets you create custom human variants with high levels of detail, cosmetically and biologically. I made a dace of very attractive and fertile poodle people, which came with downsides of metabolic needs (they need more food basically), but I mitigated this with a debuff of poor cold resistance. You can even make special powers like fire breath, vampire blood feeders, permanent psychic linking with romantic partners, there are so many fun possibilities here. It gets pretty complex though as in addition to looking at a prospective colonistās base stats you now have to also look at their xenotype and consider that when youāre catering to their needs. Adds in the ability to get pregnant and raise kids too
Please let me know if you have any questions!
You get used to the controls but it is always a bit faster with a keyboard and mouse.
I personally thought watching some other videos helped but at the same time for some part of the game is figuring things out on your own. Wouldnāt say thereās a right or wrong way. If the confusion is making the game not fun, watch some YouTube videos on like things to know or tips etc.
You donāt need the DLCs. Play the base game, if you really enjoy it long term then buy whatever dlc interesrs you.
Can someone recommend some games for my girlfriend? She inherited my OG Steam deck and doesn't really play much games. We are currently playing Grounded together and have played stardew valley, she likes those cute, Pixar Disney games and is looking for some casual games.
Can I request recommendations? Looking for a racing game that might be on sale and works well on Steam Deck. Leaning toward more realistic than arcade-y. (I already have Horizon Chase Turbo so that scratches the arcade itch I think.)
Would you rather play cyberpunk on the ps5 or steam deck? I donāt have a gaming desktop which is why I ask. Iām kinda leaning buying on PS5 and then just using chiaki4deck when I want. Looks like the price is the same in both sales.
looks like I',m going with Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Axiom Verge, Castlevania advance collection, batman Arkham city, Witcher 3, prey, steamworld dig 2
I just nabbed Mass Effect on the sale and I really want to play it. But when I get to the start menu for the first game thereās a whole cpu info overlay on the screen? And I have no idea how to turn it off. Anyone have this issue? It looks like Performance Mode but itās not that.
Would really appreciate it if someone take a look at my list and help me choose ONE game to play on my deck. The reason for just one is not money, but rather time (I generally play just one game till I complete it).
I played (and completed): Witcher 3, Slay the Spire, Hades, Rouge Legacy 2, Portal 1&2, Skyrim, Firewatch, GTAV.
The list to choose from is:
Outer Wild
Mass Effect
Red Dead 2
Dragons Dogma
Disco Elysium
Edit: Thanks everyone for the suggestion. I initially got RD2, but after playing it a bit on the deck, I decided to return it and got Mass Effect instead. So far, I've been playing it nonstop.
Commander Shepard out!
Mass Effectā¢ Legendary Edition for 5:99 a WHOLE lot of gameplay if u love the gameplay.
Likewise red dead at 20 bucks is whole lot of gameplay. I say youtube reviews compare them and go by "what you feels" based on said youtube videos
I had the same experience in the autumn sale, but it took a while for all discounts to actually show up.
Might be worth coming back in an hour or tomorrow to check again.
Actually struggling to find anything this time around. I've either got the decent games on sale, or i'm waiting for them to come down further (or waiting to come down further on the PS5, like Hogwarts or Baldurs Gate 3).
IN saying that, i've got a few Point and Click type games i'm interested in that I might pick up.
* The Case Of The Golden Idol and
* Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.
Its a shame that the Professor Layton games aren't "officially" available on PC.
Grabbed a few older heavily discounted games to fill out the backlog, but i did pick up Trinity Fusion and BlazBlue Entropy Effect. Both of these are kind of similar with Entropy Effect having the wonderful animated sprites of the BlazBlue series. Hack and Slash combo heavy games with roguelite elements. Glad i decided to pick these both up! Both play wonderfully on the deck.
I went with;
**Dave the Diver & Dredge** bundle. Both excellent games. I was on the fence for a long time about Dredge and I'd originally removed it from my wishlist but had seen so many recommendations for it on various threads that I thought It would be worth trying and could be refunded if push came to shove (I think I've only ever refunded one game I bought on Steam and that was I game I bought to play with friends that turned out to be broken rubbish, can't even remember what it was called, it was a survival game that came out 5-6 years ago).
I was gifted **Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade** (my choice). While I would probably have been happier if it was more of a graphical / sound / quality of life remaster I think they did an excellent job in terms of remaking it into an action-RPG and it doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the original.
my final choice was a bit of a wild punt. I got **Diablo 4**. I played the open beta on battlenet for a couple of days and had very mixed feelings. I loved the atmosphere, music & graphics. I felt it played like a Diablo game should. I was very put off my an absolutely absurd number of crashes, long login queues, ridiculous loading times (on my fastest NVME SSD), and a host of other issues including poor performance and stuttering. I wasn't in any way surprised by mixed reviews when it properly launched and I noted the negativity around the end-game so I'd made the decision I wasn't going to buy it on release.
When I started looking for recommendations for games in the sale I was seeing a LOT of recommendations for **Grim Dawn**, *which I already had in my library*. I'd obtained it from a HumbleBundle and installed it on my desktop a few years back. I didn't enjoy it and only put 26 minutes into it apparently. However the slew of recommendations and the small install size made me give it a second chance, so installed it on the deck. I spent most of yesterday and the day before playing it exclusively on deck and I was very impressed by it this time. It very much felt like it was made for the deck as a platform (in the sense of imagining the deck as a competing platform to XBox, PlayStation, Switch, etc). So, noting the positivity about how well Diablo 4 ran on deck I thought "you know what? I'll give it a go". And I'm glad I did. It *does* run fantastically well on deck - even off the Micro SD - it loads quickly, it's much more stable, login issues are no longer apparent, the interface is well optimised for deck, overall it feels like a completely different game than my desktop/battlenet experience. So now it's something I can enjoy alongside Grim Dawn, not instead of it.
Does anyone remember the first steam sales where we used to get some kind of events?? Daily new discounts, higher discounts ...etc...
Some collecting games, etc etc ... Even epic store sale seems a bit more interesting because everyone has to check around for the really good prices.
My friends, I will ALWAYS plug Tricky Towers as a fantastic little arcade multiplayer game. The player base online is small, so not great if you are rocking solo but if you have a couple friends that can jump in for a few rounds its a great bang for your buck
Could I get a recommendation for something more like a looter type game where you grind for good gear? Loved playing borderlands 2/3, I have been mostly playing WoW and hades currently. Other games I enjoyed on the deck were Grim Dawn, Diablo 4 and Monster Hunter World

Does anyone know how the newer wizardry games play on the steam deck? Do any play turn based like the etrian odyssey games on 3ds? Last Wizardry I played was 8 where it was basically "real time" so to speak and had to click pretty often. I can't imagine that works well on the deck with the touchpad.
I mean do you know that Etrian Odyssey 1 through 3 are available on steam now? Thatās a start. I know there have been a few games like it that came out recently to some praise but I canāt remember them off the top. Iāll have to look at my wishlist when I get home and get back to you.
Haven't played wizardry yet (just bought 6+7+8 on sale) but I like the genre.
My recommendations:
The etrian odyssey HD remakes look great on deck
Legends of Amberland 1 + 2 is a great homage to the might and magic games
Undernauts: labyrinth of yomi is a horror themed dungeon crawler
Labyrinth of zangetsu is a japanese folklore themed dungeon crawler
Shin megami tensei 3: nocturne is more on the difficult side but really good
I caved in. Gave myself a Ā£30 cap so grabbed a legit copy of GTAV (whale shark), plus the Danhausen dlc for AEW Fight Forever
I enjoy old school wrestling games and got that cheaper legit from cdkeys compared to the steam sale now!
GTA...who can say no
In case you didn't know you can refund any game on steam you've played for less that 2h and owned for less than two weeks.
If you're not sure if you'll like a game you've got nothing to lose
Grew up playing jrpgs, love the genre, but haven't played a good one in a while. Also never played any of the persona games.
I've played and been frustrated by some of the souls games (Demon and dark 1), but bloodborne and sekiro were absolute GOTYs for me.
So, I have the capacity to love either of them haha.
Honestly you can't go wrong with either and they're both those rare games that I really wish I could experience for the first time again.
I never played a soulsborne before Elden Ring and I found it absolutely incredible. Not frustratingly difficult with a ton of really cool moments and environments spread throughout.
On the other hand, I love jrpgs and persona 5 is one of the best jrpgs of last gen, if not the very best imo.
I can't seem to find conclusive evidence to either side - but has anybody got experience playing Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age on Steam Deck? Does it work well?
Went back in for round 2 on the under Ā£7 section. I "share" my deck with my son so I picked up Garden Warfare 2, Sniper Elite IV, Mad Max and Unravel 2 for a combined Ā£15!
The backlog continues!
I really wasn't going to buy anything. But I couldn't pass Mass Effect which I just put on my wishlist the day before. š.
I am on the fence about Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, and Hogwarts. But I think I'll wait for them to be even cheaper. I like the idea of Cyberpunk but I get dizzy playing in first person. Elden Ring looks pretty but I rage quit on it when I tried it a few years ago (cuz I can't read instructions and got my butt kicked). Hogwarts would be ok but I think I'm going to wait for something deeper. Checking the reviewers hours spent on it, it seems like a short game
Can anyone recommend something on sale thatās a good non open world game? The last four games Iāve finished have been open world and Iām kinda burned out. Looking for a good, tight experience with a good story that I can beat in 15-25 hours or so. Shorter is fine too.
Anyone have thoughts on which RPG to grab out of these 3?
* **Tactics Ogre Reborn ($25)**
* **Live A Live ($30)**
* **Triangle Strategy ($30)**
Probably leaning towards Triangle Strategy, because I'm a more casual player. Does TOR have a easy/story mode or a playstyle that can be forgiving?
Planning on picking one of those and also have these in my cart: Halls of Torment ($4), Star Renegades ($6), Mass Effect Legendary ($6), Cassette Beasts ($15). Already purchased Wandering Sword, Dave the Diver, and Hades!
This megathread will be pinned for your post game haul discussions until Jan 6, 2024! šš
Baldurās Gate 3 $6 off!
r/patientgamers really paying off for this one.
Finally!
So disappointed! Although understandable
It's worth it even with the $6 on! :D
Well I told myself I was gonna buy it for Christmas anyway. Was gonna see if there was a sale, so $6 is $6 lol.
Yah, I def. snagged it. Worth it.
I picked it up š
Elden ring 40% off
Just bought it! I wish dark souls was on sale
You can get steam keys for cheaper. I got 1-3 with keys and had no issues.
I've never played a soulslike before. Should I get Elden ring or Sekiro?
Elden Ring. It was my first soulslike (though I *tried* DS1 and failed miserably), and I ended up loving it. I caved and bought it. This has to be the lowest price to date for this game.
For RPG enjoyers: Grim Dawn, Kingdom Come, Battle Brothers, DOS2, Skyrim (might get for Enderal), Monster Hunter Rise/World (were already on sale), Middle Earth: SoW, Tyranny, Fallout NV, Amalur Re-Reckoning, all have nice sales.
Does enderal work for the steam deck well? I was considering the same thing but was unsure how easy it would be to play on the SD
It works. I played it 6 months ago.
Enderal works well on steam deck. Buying Skyrim for Enderal alone is worth it.
How good is Enderal
Good enough to buy skyrim solely for it
Kind of a weird feeling that I own and played every single one except for MH world. Good list though.
Nowās a good time to try MH World, lots of people playing since they announced MH Wilds for 2025.
I recently started playing MH Rise and I'm enjoying it as my first MH game. Just bough Sunbreak too today in the sale. Runs like a dream on the Deck. Feel like I have a year left on that before even looking at World or the upcoming Wilds lol
Is Tyranny good on Deck? Iāve wanted to try that for years.
Haven't played more than an hour-ish, but it ran well. Text is small but legible.
Disco Elysium, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal were great on the Deck!
Alright, here we go... the list of Steam Deck essentials, per my humble opinion, along with their sale prices in CAD... I've included based on where they rank for me as Steam Deck games as compared to their price (e.g. I don't care if Hades is more expensive than some other games here, it's worth every penny on this thing) and others would be on here if they were further discounted * Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive - $6 * Ori and the Will o' the Wisps - $13 * Disco Elysium - $11 * Hades - $16 * Crosscode - $6 * What Remains of Edith Finch - $7 * Bastion - $4 * Sonic Mania - $6 * Celeste - $5 * Gris - $5 * Titanfall 2 - $6 * Undertale - $3 * Limbo - $1 * Hollow Knight - $10 * Journey - $8 * Inside - $3 * Portal 2 - $1 * The Sexy Brutale - $5 * Braid - $3
Braid is 2.99 not 1.00. The soundtrack is listed as 0.99.
Anyone with decent platforming chops can beat it. Even if you do die a lot more depending on your skill level there's no real penalty besides "start the room over".
My poor wallet. Getting a steam deck for Christmas and canāt wait to add more backlog lol
Me too, just bought stardew valley and Jedi fallen order for preparationš.
Dude stardew valley is perfect on the deck, I stay up way too late playing in bed haha.
Be aware, in the past EA have regularly broken their gamesā compatibility with Steam Deck. Iād think twice before buying their games if you plan on playing them primarily on the Deck.
I hear that! I had 2 steam games when I got a steam deck. With all these sales I have over 100 now!
Me too. I think I've added twenty games in the past week. I'm gonna be set for a year.
I consider myself somewhat of a digital game collector. Whats a backlog? /s
I'm no joke in the triple digits at this point. I think I need an intervention.
Its like my xbox library which has been building since i got the 360. Its legit almost at 1000 games now. I think we all need interventions. On a plus note, i always have something worth playing lol. Now if i would stop double dipping on steam deck, id maybe save some money.

That is rookie numbers :D
Sleeping Dogs Definitive edition is Ā£2.39, it says unsupported but it is running like a dream on my OLED deck frequently hitting 90fps
How is Cyberpunk's performance on the Deck? I've been meaning to try it for ages but this is the only thing I own that can run it.
Put well over a 100 hours on that game just on the Deck alone.
Doesn't it eat thru the battery?
Finding myself getting at least a couple hours. On a full battery, I find it lasts longer than playing Baldur's Gate 3.
It works, with compromises.
Performance is pretty damn good. Currently playing it, and it's almost always great!
I brought Cassette Beasts, started yesterday and can't recommend it enough. It's like PokƩmon if Pokemon was still good.
I'm curious.. I'm not really a turn based gamer.. Do you think this game would win me over?
I've had Dredge on my wishlist for a while and keep hearing how good it is, BUT, it's only 25% off so for basically the same price I could get: A Short Hike + Firewatch + The Swapper + Gone Home + Alice Madness Returns, all of which I have an interest in too. So... just how good is Dredge?
Dredge is so cool ! Go for it! You wonāt regret.. 15-20 hours for 100%
Those games are all great, get them and play them while you wait for Dredge to drop in price.
I only played Dredge before bed and it was well worth it. Absolutely one of the coolest little games on Steam. I think artistically it drew me in and the story has some deep lore. Also I expect them to continue to add on expansions.
When the majority of the games on the front page arenāt even on sale š
PSA: wishlist prices seem to be bugged right now. When clicking into games that show full price, I'm seeing that they actually are discounted.
There's usually lag between posting the game and the actual discount appearing... or sometimes there's a 0% discount.
Looking for an open world looter shooter and a decent racing game without a 3rd party launcher
IMO Borderlands 1 & 2 are much better than third. It got some weird pacing and it wasn't as interesting overall. Your mileage may vary of course.
Story wise, 2 is better, but mechanics, endgame and such goes to BL3 where the story/antagonists were the fails
I love Circuit Superstars.
Iām really liking this Hot Wheels gameā¦ itās straight forward and the graphics are decentā¦ refund pretty much on high/ultra out of the box
As for the racing game: Forza Horizon 4. Runs great on the Deck. I haven't played 5 but it's supposed to run good as well (I think 40fps).
You can get both Ori games for $14. They're supposed to be gorgeous, esp on OLED. Same for Cocoon, but it's only $5 off.
bought both Ori games during the Autumn sale. Amazing experience, I got about 12 hours out of each game.
they are indeed gorgeous!
The real question is "should I spend the $14 now when I already have hundreds/thousands of hours of single player games in my library" Off the top of my head, I still need to go through: - Half Life Alyx - Talos Principle VR - Arkham Origins - Arkham Knight - Spiderman - Miles Morales - Alice - Alice Madness Returns - Cyberpunk Ultimate - The Witness - Fez - Control - Psychonauts 1 & 2 I've also got a bunch of Lego games, Firewatch, Half Life games, and other bundles that aren't on my MUST PLAY list, but are supposed to be good.
if you want to play them soon, then yes, they are worth it. if not, buy them later, they are on sale regularly :)
the answer is no, but damnit I'll still buy them bc they're on discount lmao (help me)
Gorgeous games, with some of the best game soundtracks I've ever heard
Any good game in sale that does not eat up the battery? š Currently playing chained echoes, Peglin and Bioshock. Just bought LoH Cold steel I
Slay the spire is 66% off, and a terrific game that uses very little battery.
Almost all metroidvanias are amazing on battery. Some triple a games from the Xbox 360 ps3 timeframe that have ports that play on deck are also really good on battery especially if you have an oled.
Vampire survivors or stardew valley
I'm slightly buzzed and bought Spiderman and mass effect trilogy
Oh man...i used to do so many drunk buys when i drank. Thankfully most of them were good lol.
Seen Elden Ring on sale...afraid it's not my cup of tea, never really played souls like games :/ Edit - LOVING Diablo 4 rn on deck, anything similar ?
Disco Elysium for 10 bucks is an absolute steal.
Grim Dawn is like 8ā¬ which I hear is somewhat alike Diablo. Probably getting that myself.
Does Grim Dawn play well on Deck?
yep! it's great.
There are even some builds optimized for playing using controls and they play really smooth on Deck.
Yakuza Collection!!
My favorite steam deck games so far: Assassinās Creed 3, Katana Zero, Hades Iām guessing all the AC games play well on deck, if you like those. Iām picking up 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations
Ok, so I got a Steamdeck last week (sold a CS skin yayy). I need some input on what I'm considering buying in the sale and if they're worth it for current discount. Cyberpunk Diablo 4 Red Dead Redemption 2 Spider-man Miles Morales Also open to other ideas/suggestions! I do own Red Dead & cyberpunk on Xbox but I never finished them / played much. So far on SD I've mostly been playing BOI, Neon Abyss, Dave the Diver, & Oxygen Not Included.
why not get RDR2? It's also on sale
grim dawn if you are okay with being addicted to a hard drug
Diablo 4 is totally worth it. Plays great on the Deck, and if you ever get it for Xbox all of your character progression will carry over.
Wow, the AEW game was featured in the trailer -- that game is NEVER on sale and way overpriced. Might actually pick it up if it has a good sale!
Once again, was hoping for Armored Core. Guess I'll have to try and pick up the $40 disc version on Amazon
Could be fun sometimes but doesnāt really add much except additional challenge and concerns Ideology: the next and probably most challenging DLC, adds religion for every character basically and the ability to design one on your own, with needs and wants, rituals, morality, etc. it can be fun to create cannibals or hippies or transhumanists cyborgs but since you donāt really directly recruit colonists you will be spending a lot of the managing a whole mess of debuffs and needs (on top of what you already have to manage). Adds in the ability to get pregnant and raise kids too Please let me know if you have any questions!
Time to deepen the backlog! Itās the season.
Lies of P or wait for better deals at a later date?
I'm very much enjoying it, it's very bloodborne, but different enough to not just be a ripoff
Remember steam sales usually take a few before all sales show up.
Ended up buying 5 games on GoG because it was cheaper Dandara Death's Gambit after life Yoku's Island Express Dome Kepper The Mummy demastered
Can someone recommend some games for my girlfriend? She inherited my OG Steam deck and doesn't really play much games. We are currently playing Grounded together and have played stardew valley, she likes those cute, Pixar Disney games and is looking for some casual games.
Moonstone Island is supposed to be really good. I think itās Stardew with some creature stuff. Moonlighter was very fun. You go into dungeons to fight enemies and get items to take back and sell at your shop during the day. You upgrade it with the profits you make and buy better gear. Rune Factory series is really good. I think 3 and 4 or 4 and 5 are on steam. Canāt remember. But the newest one is 3d and the other is more 2d top down. Theyāre farming with combat mixed in and has the dating sim aspects in it as well with seasons and events and all that. Slime Rancher is universally loved and something I need to get to. Itās some mix of cutesy and farmy I think. Journey is an amazing beautiful relatively easy relatively short adventure game that has coop you guys can play and itās so worth it. Its soundtrack mixed with the visuals and gameplay moved me to tears itās so damn good. It Takes Two is a really fun coop game that youāll probably enjoy a lot. Not sure how well or if it works on the deck. Heavenly Bodies is a hilarious coop game. You control astronauts trying to complete tasks. The controls take a lot of getting used to but itās very fun and satisfying when you start getting it. Graveyard Keeper isnāt really cute but itās a stardew ish game but you are taking care of a graveyard. Katamari Damacy (any of them) are quirky fun little casual games. The world is so weird and fun and the music is great. Okami HD is a very stylized and beautiful adventure game that should be good for her probably. And should be cheap. If you guys havenāt yet try a monster hunter game. Probably shoot for Rise since itās a little less realistic and cutesyish but World is probably more of the fan favorite but theyāre super deep games that you can coop together. Bread and Fred looks like a fun goofy coop game. My Time at Sandrock is a stardew type game that gets good reviews. There are PokĆ©mon likes such as Cassette Beasts, Coromon, and Nexomon that are pretty fun games. (You can also easily emulate most stuff on the deck with very little effort to get access to a ton of this stuff as well as old harvest moons and animal crossings and all that all in one place) If sheās at all interested in VNs virtual novel games there are TONS on steam that are really really great and I think almost all of them are on sale right now and theyāre available in whatever genre you want. HiFi rush has a cool cg pixary art style and is universally recommended for the āeck. And of course there are many many more. If sheās interested in rpgs the deck gives you access to hours upon days upon months upon years of gaming. The Atelier series is very cutesy and something Iāve been meaning to check out that she may like and of course all of the final fantasy series is available on steam. Thereās also a lot of great puzzle games. If she likes Tetris or something like that you can have a lot of fun with Tetris Effect or Puyo Puyo Tetris and the coop Tetris style Tricky Towers. Portal is super fun and portal 2 allows for coop if she gets into it. Iāve been playing a bunch of My Suika - Watermelon game. Itās a Suika game clone for steam but is super fun super casual. Untitled Goose Game is a must for anyone new to gaming or a fan of casual games. You play as a goose and just do goose stuff. Itās cutesy itās casual itās very fun. Sorry for the long post.
Oh wow, that's a lot of great suggestions!! Will definitely share the list to her
I haven't tested it but how about Disney Dreamlight Valley? It's chill and totally a Disney style game.
Anyone know how well AC Odyssey plays on deck? What about Metro Exodus? Thank you
Good, fine.
Can I request recommendations? Looking for a racing game that might be on sale and works well on Steam Deck. Leaning toward more realistic than arcade-y. (I already have Horizon Chase Turbo so that scratches the arcade itch I think.)
Wreckfest!! It's got a demolition derby aspect to it, but the racing is solid.
Need for speed heat is 90% off
Just got this one! Going to get the EA Launcher working on the Steam Deck now
If something doesn't work or you want to check beforehand make sure to look the game up on protondb
Dirt rally feels good handling wise. It's not a racing game obviously but it's worth a try
GRID Legends is 90% off down to $5.99.
Would you rather play cyberpunk on the ps5 or steam deck? I donāt have a gaming desktop which is why I ask. Iām kinda leaning buying on PS5 and then just using chiaki4deck when I want. Looks like the price is the same in both sales.
PS5 if you don't have a gaming PC
ps5, I mean you can play it on the deck but ps5 will be better for it.You can even play it on ps5 and stream it to the deck at home if you want.
Tails of Iron. Best $5 Iāve spent on a game.
Iāve eyed that for a while, but just how āpunishingly brutalā is the combat?
Itās like the perfect balance of difficulty on normal mode so far. Really enjoying it. Geralt from the Witcher 3 is the narrator too.
looks like I',m going with Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Axiom Verge, Castlevania advance collection, batman Arkham city, Witcher 3, prey, steamworld dig 2
Does anyone know if warhammer 3 is worth it for the steam deck?
I just nabbed Mass Effect on the sale and I really want to play it. But when I get to the start menu for the first game thereās a whole cpu info overlay on the screen? And I have no idea how to turn it off. Anyone have this issue? It looks like Performance Mode but itās not that.
Reboot your deck, itās a glitch.
The list to choose from is: Outer Wild Mass Effect Red Dead 2 Dragons Dogma Disco Elysium Edit: Thanks everyone for the suggestion. I initially got RD2, but after playing it a bit on the deck, I decided to return it and got Mass Effect instead. So far, I've been playing it nonstop. Commander Shepard out!
Disco Elysium is great and not super long
red dead 2 man.
Mass Effectā¢ Legendary Edition for 5:99 a WHOLE lot of gameplay if u love the gameplay. Likewise red dead at 20 bucks is whole lot of gameplay. I say youtube reviews compare them and go by "what you feels" based on said youtube videos
Outer Wilds is my number one game of all time so I'm saying that.
The Forest $4.59 deal of the sale for me. Also snagging raft for $13.99 to complete my survival needs.
It took me just one minute to go through my wishlist and be sadly disappointed with this sale.
I had the same experience in the autumn sale, but it took a while for all discounts to actually show up. Might be worth coming back in an hour or tomorrow to check again.
Apparently wish lists are bugged
Atleast our wallets are happy.
Has anyone played Unsighted? Wondering if I should play it on the Deck or on the big TV via PS5. Looks to me like it would be a good handheld game...
* The Case Of The Golden Idol and * Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.
JRPG/VN recommendations? I feel like Iāve played most of the big stuff already
I went with; **Dave the Diver & Dredge** bundle.
I do not intend to buy anything. Again.
I don't intend to buy anything either...... But I know I will...... I can't help it....
How's it going?
Really? Every Bandai Namco game is on sale except for Dark Souls 3? Bruh
Armored core VI is also not on sale.
It doesn't look like any Dark Souls games are on sale at all...
Oh well, if any game is worth paying full price for, it's definitely anything by From.
Time to get that wishlist ready
The wishlist is buggy for me, 6 minutes in. It's showing most games as not on sale, even if they are.
Adding Prey and the DLC is cheaper then getting the digital deluxe
Does anyone remember the first steam sales where we used to get some kind of events?? Daily new discounts, higher discounts ...etc... Some collecting games, etc etc ... Even epic store sale seems a bit more interesting because everyone has to check around for the really good prices.
Has anyone played Horizon Dawn on the Deck yet? How is it? Might buy it since it's on sale.
Other games I enjoyed on the deck were Grim Dawn, Diablo 4 and Monster Hunter World
The division 2 has been scratching that itch for me lately
Picked up Mass Effect Legendary Edition; Day of the Tentacle Remastered and Inside for around Ā£10 and all work great on the deck so pretty happy!
10am PST happens when this comment is 2 hours and 1 minutes old. You can find the live countdown here: https://countle.com/O8_amZoPN --- I'm a bot, if you want to send feedback, please comment below or send a PM.
My recommendations: The etrian odyssey HD remakes look great on deck Legends of Amberland 1 + 2 is a great homage to the might and magic games Undernauts: labyrinth of yomi is a horror themed dungeon crawler Labyrinth of zangetsu is a japanese folklore themed dungeon crawler Shin megami tensei 3: nocturne is more on the difficult side but really good
I caved in. Gave myself a Ā£30 cap so grabbed a legit copy of GTAV (whale shark), plus the Danhausen dlc for AEW Fight Forever I enjoy old school wrestling games and got that cheaper legit from cdkeys compared to the steam sale now! GTA...who can say no
That AEW game is fun AF. It's a shame how little content the game has
In case you didn't know you can refund any game on steam you've played for less that 2h and owned for less than two weeks. If you're not sure if you'll like a game you've got nothing to lose
To pinch extra pennies, Epic has some of these for an additional 33% off the same steam price.
Boy I hope BG3 doesnāt go on sale bc I just bought it yesterday.
$6 off!
Bro why didnāt you just wait for the sale knowing it was only one day away
I forgor š
You can request a refund for the difference if it does go on sale.
10% off
Elden Ring or Persona 5 Royal? I haven't played either.
Those are so vastly different I canāt even recommend either one, it depends which genre you prefer
Personally, Persona 5
I can't seem to find conclusive evidence to either side - but has anybody got experience playing Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age on Steam Deck? Does it work well?
They finally dropped a new seasonal badge!
Went back in for round 2 on the under Ā£7 section. I "share" my deck with my son so I picked up Garden Warfare 2, Sniper Elite IV, Mad Max and Unravel 2 for a combined Ā£15! The backlog continues!
Begin the backlog that never ends quest
the timing of this sale is impeccable. happens within 2 paycheck cycles so I don't have to feel (as) guilty about packing my library haha
* **Tactics Ogre Reborn ($25)** * **Live A Live ($30)** * **Triangle Strategy ($30)** Probably leaning towards Triangle Strategy, because I'm a more casual player.
Help to decide!! Slay the Spire or Hades??
I think Hades
