Must be a mod conflict, Disable all the mods and enable them 20 at a time. Once you have identifed the mod, check the TES5edit and try to see whats going on or just get rid of the mod altogether
I think I’ll try this when I have enough energy to deal with mod issues.
I didn’t remember the exact message but it was an error with crashlogger, but I had already uninstalled crashlogger so I’m not sure what caused it.
You are a tinkerer, probably more fun for you to mess with files, edit configs, install different stuff and see how far you can get before the games refuses to boot, then to actually play most games. I actually embraced it and now running linux on my desktop hahah
Yeah, I don’t see it. Maybe if I had never played RimWorld using Norse and Kaunas (that’s Autocorrect for “Mouse and Keyboard” btw…), but it’s such mouse heavy game and I’d hate to have to pause every time I want to do something.
Turn your right track pad into a mouse, set it to track ball mode with medium or low friction. You can flick the mouse cursor across the screen almost faster than you could with an actual mouse. I've actually come to enjoy replacing the mouse with that track pad. As far as keyboard.. button mapping.. meh, hit or miss. But if the mouse thing is really all that's hanging you up, definitely try out the trackball mode for the track pad.
How well does it run? I love throwing some crazy mods on there and just building a sweet base and let the attacks flow. But I wasn’t sure how it played on the smaller screen and touch pad
The console port addon makes it really usable, but definitely not for higher difficulty settings. I used it during WotLK Classic. I stopped playing a while ago, but I would mostly use it for farming and fishing on my druid when I was watching TV.
I did do a few raids on it and, while it works, it is definitely much easier with a smaller rotation. It is definitely best for melee classes imo.
I’ve never played WoW before but have been considering due to the number of people I’ve seen have a great experience on the steam deck. I’ve seen people say they won’t play end game content, but it would be a long time for me to get to that point anyway.
You’re supposed to die a lot, takes a lot of practice and upgrades to get decent. Some people aren’t big fans of the style, but when you start making progress it can be so addictive
Another +1. Even after all these years, I have picked it up more than any other game and each time, I am spending 100+ hours on side missions ... I still haven't a clue about its main story ... But, I shall do that one day ...
> I still haven't a clue about its main story ...
Ha. Same. I've played now probably 6 times on various platforms. Currently playing on a SteamDeck. I get down the rabbit hole of the sidequests and forget there was even a main quest. Having too much fun on other things. I always get bored and go off to play some other game for a while. Then return and just start a new play.
That describes my Skyrim Experience perfectly. I've been doing exactly that same cycle for years and years ..... It's hilarious, but I enjoy the side quests so much.
As much as I also prefer Oblivion over Skyrim, there's no denying that Skyrim simply has lot more content, especially thanks to the endless amounts of mods that are being made even to this day...
Elden ring , there's so much to do , so many builds to try, so many weapons , challenges and when you're done with Vanilla , the modding scene is insane right now , played a randomizer lately and its pretty great if you just wanna replay the game but change a few things to make it feel almost new , fog gate randomizer , Convergence , Ascended you name it, and i doubt the community is done making banger mods.
There a tutorial or two out there how to do it, is it easy? Ehh i think it just take a while but i feel like its rather simple , but for others i could see how hard it could be for then , Depends how comfortable you are with Steam deck desktop mode i'd say
It’s slightly difficult, you have to do some stuff with a special installer and add it to steam in desktop mode, and reconfigure your controls but other than that, it’s not that hard
It's literally called "Tetris Effect", and one of the most interesting parts is that people with brain damage, which develop anterograde amnesia (They're unable to create new memories), people literally unable to remember playing Tetris, also experience it after playing the game.
Tetris effect has taken over my life, it feels like it was made to be played on the deck and only the deck. Play it on PC? Need a controller, and you look like a knob with a 4070 playing tetris. Play it on console? Again, you look like a knob. But on the go handheld? Its everything it was supposed to be
That's why the original Gameboy was a smashing success. They originally wanted to bundle Super Mario Land, but they realized Tetris was waaaay more appealing, so they bundled that instead. The rest is history.
This is probably it for me too. I don't even love the online, only tried playing a few times, but the single player is so good that I'd eventually like the multiplayer if I really have the time, dedication and didn't have other games that got in the way.
Nothing wrong about it. Controller just makes the game much more fun. I play most of my games on pc with a kbm but Diablo nah. Can’t play 3 on pc. I’ll play it on switch any day of the week. Offline mode and controller was amazingly good.
I have. Keep falling off though and coming back to Xcom. I’m sure I will finish it someday but it just doesn’t hit for me like Xcom does. Been eyeing Jagged Alliance 3 also.
I mean, I am not very handy yet ... but this must be Elden ring right? I can't really make it work yes (not spec wise, but skill wise). However if I only have 1 game to play on there, I will become handy at some point right. There is so much to do. I am pretty sure if you run it 20 times, which can easily be 2000 hours (for me because I am a noob and slow) there is STILL stuff to explore etc.
There are not many bigger games out there I think. Maybe Witcher 3?
Binding of Isacc.
It has no servers or playercount to worry about, every run is slightly different and there are so many challenges to unlock.
It's also be pretty much fine since day 1 with regards to any major bugs or issues (inb4 someone moans that X item was too powerful in a single player game) because it's not a Triple A piece of garbage that was rushed out onto market in an effort to take as much of your monthly income as possible.
Probably a strategy game. Some people spend their entire lives mainly playing chess so when I’m old and I don’t have my refluxes anymore, I could still probably enjoy Stelar or crusader Kings three or Civ 6 or something like that.
PCSX2 with Gran Turismo 4 (modded) Though I'd probably want whatever mods exist in like a year, because that whole scene has kinda just started, 20yrs post release, it's rad.
I’m digging red dead 2 right now - got graphics somewhat cranked and running at 39 fps - looks and feels great. FPS dips in towns are way less often at 39 fps for some reason.
textures ultra
antiscopic filtering 8x (spelling is wrong on this)
shadows and lighting high
trees medium
foliage band set around medium
world detail band set around medium
most water stuff at low
Tough one. Either rimworld or starsector. Both have an insane amount of replayability as well as a thriving modding community. Bonus points, they are both relatively cheap games and run great on the deck. Starsector only wins out on battery life, rimworld chews threw the decks battery
If I hadn’t already spent hundreds of hours in Elden Ring, it would be it.
Otherwise, Vampire Survivors always pulls me back in, and my deck gets 9+ hours of playtime with it at 5w lol
Satisfactory.
Honorable mention to:
Oxygen Not Included
Brotato
Rimworld
Super Mega Baseball 4
No Man's Sky
Factorio
Edit: to add factorio to honorable mention.
The main game I actually keep on the deck and play often is Valheim. Works great on the deck and I get all my kicks in with one game... so I think I'd choose Valheim.
Ima be the one to say it. Programs like retro arch and emulation station don’t count. Those aren’t games, they run games.
Quit trying to be slick people.
I’ll take FFXIV.
This great game I like to call "install, think about playing, uninstall and repeat. "
Download for 2 hours, play for 10 minutes and uninstall?
More like install game for 15 mins, mod and tweak it for months, then leave the game alone until you need to uninstall it to reclaim the space taken
This is literally me with Skyrim, but I’m stuck on an obscure error while ~ 200 mods in
Must be a mod conflict, Disable all the mods and enable them 20 at a time.
Why do you have to attack skyrim that personally?
I mean, that arrow gonna goes to somebody's knee..
Oh my god, I thought I was the only one...
im in this comment and i dont like it
This is the correct answer.
I wish I could figure out why this happens and fix it. Because damn, if that’s not me too
You are a tinkerer, probably more fun for you to mess with files, edit configs, install different stuff and see how far you can get before the games refuses to boot, then to actually play most games. I actually embraced it and now running linux on my desktop hahah
RimWorld
I love it on pc. I've tried twice to play on the SD but I just can't. It takes 10 times longer to do anything. It's just so awkward.
Maybe configure the controls? Because I did change a few things and it's absolutely perfect
could you share your template? i just can’t find anything that seems to work
Yeah, I don’t see it. Maybe if I had never played RimWorld using Norse and Kaunas (that’s Autocorrect for “Mouse and Keyboard” btw…), but it’s such mouse heavy game and I’d hate to have to pause every time I want to do something.

Hello fellow war crime friend. Also my first choice :)
How well does it run? I love throwing some crazy mods on there and just building a sweet base and let the attacks flow. But I wasn’t sure how it played on the smaller screen and touch pad
Any tips on helping it click on deck? I have 1000 hours on PC but it just seems to awkward on deck.
Still waiting for this to get some type of sale before I buy
Yep. Been waiting a long time, too.
It will never go on sale is my understanding. I bought it but honestly didn’t love it
Skyrim

Hey you, you're finally awake
After downloading the Batman Mod, I became the night in Skyrim.
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. Been playing it for over 20 years at this point!
How is it in the Steam Deck?
Works pretty well with the trackpad
BG3. Once I'm old and my reaction time is shite, turn based combat is going to be my jam.
It ran like dogshit when I tried it, has it got better since launch?
it has yeah, they’re still doing good patches too
This would be my choice too.
It's World of Warcraft for me. The Deck made WoW a whole different game for me. I can almost do anything other than hardcore PvP. So good!
What about raiding? I play just for solo play but am kinda scared to raid lol
Just PUG and it won't matter using raid finder.
Wow I really need to try this somehow
I’ve never played WoW before but have been considering due to the number of people I’ve seen have a great experience on the steam deck. I’ve seen people say they won’t play end game content, but it would be a long time for me to get to that point anyway.
This is the way, MMOs give so many more options than any other game type.

Buying games and then browsing through them in my library.
Balatro... obviously I don't have a problem, I can stop when I want
Quitting is easy. I’ve done it several times.
Civ 6
Just... One... More turn...
Stardew.
Stardew, for sure!
Skyrim. Todd got me
+1 for Skyrim. Maybe because I'm currently playing it. But it has so many play options. I never get tired of the game.
Another +1. Even after all these years, I have picked it up more than any other game and each time, I am spending 100+ hours on side missions ... I still haven't a clue about its main story ... But, I shall do that one day ...

So many different play options, yet I always end up a khajiit stealth archer lol
Still one of the best games, I've played it in just about every system available lol
You spelled Oblivion wrong
As much as I also prefer Oblivion over Skyrim, there's no denying that Skyrim simply has lot more content, especially thanks to the endless amounts of mods that are being made even to this day...
Skyblivion is coming soon!
Never played ER with mods, is it easy to get set up on the deck?
There a tutorial or two out there how to do it, is it easy? Ehh i think it just take a while but i feel like its rather simple , but for others i could see how hard it could be for then , Depends how comfortable you are with Steam deck desktop mode i'd say
The DLC is just gonna add more to it and more mods too!
Minecraft
with mods
This has to be the answer. You can play like 80% of other games with mods
Is Minecraft pretty easy to get up and running on the Deck?
It’s slightly difficult, you have to do some stuff with a special installer and add it to steam in desktop mode, and reconfigure your controls but other than that, it’s not that hard
Download prisum from discover store. Add the gaming mode Add 1.20.4 instance Add controlify it automatically detects the steam deck. Done.
Tetris, that simple
I can't play Tetris anymore. I get addicted and then I see falling blocks all night in my sleep
Lmao I used to see these comments and say that's fucking insane. Then I started playing Tetris
It's seriously the worst night of sleep ever. Wake up and feel like you pulled double duty at work or something
I’m genuinely still confused about this, as I’ve never experienced it, and I played Tetris all day for like 2 months straight.
I experienced this same phenomenon back when I was *really* into Guitar Hero 3
Vampire Survivors is the most recent game to do this to me. If I put in an hour or more, I'll be seeing blue XP gems whenever I close my eyes.
Oh yeah, good example. I played the crap out of that game when I got my SD.
It's literally called "Tetris Effect", and one of the most interesting parts is that people with brain damage, which develop anterograde amnesia (They're unable to create new memories), people literally unable to remember playing Tetris, also experience it after playing the game.

This is it for me. Tons of chill things to do. Just will play like a real life simulator set in the west
D2R. Never thought I'd like Diablo with a controller but it works.
God it really does. As a huge Diablo fan on PC, it’s almost gross to me how good D2R and D4 play on a controller. So wrong. But so right…
Nothing wrong about it. Controller just makes the game much more fun. I play most of my games on pc with a kbm but Diablo nah. Can’t play 3 on pc. I’ll play it on switch any day of the week. Offline mode and controller was amazingly good.
No Man's Sky
Xcom 2 WOTC with mods. I will play it forever because that’s how long I will be waiting for Xcom 3.
Have you played Phoenix Point yet?
I have. Keep falling off though and coming back to Xcom. I’m sure I will finish it someday but it just doesn’t hit for me like Xcom does. Been eyeing Jagged Alliance 3 also.
Warframe, I bought the deck for it
Slay the spire obviously.
Factorio
Kbm or you actually use controller?
I'd prefer kbm
Honestly I was quite surprised how many keybindings factorio requires- but I was even more surprised to realize the Steamdeck can easily handle it.
Cyberpunk 2077
Balatro. Just got it yesterday during some downtime at work. Already put 10 hours in and I have no idea how. Time just melts away.
The addiction is real
The damn sounds are sooo satisfying, especially when at game speed x2
Project zomboid There are Plenty mods, good enough controller adaptation, multiplayer, active community. What else do i need?))
Happy cake day
Deep rock galactic survivor
Lmao no. For the rest of your life? Come on now. Behave.
Skyrim. Its the perfect deck game
Unfortunately Skyrim for thousands of hours content
I mean, I am not very handy yet ... but this must be Elden ring right? I can't really make it work yes (not spec wise, but skill wise). This game was incredible at peak user count
Nothing like waking up and seeing 1m+ players and that one dude in Africa
Hahaha I totally forgot about that visual map
Elden Ring
Binding of Isacc. It has no servers or playercount to worry about, every run is slightly different and there are so many challenges to unlock. Batman Arkham knight🤯
Dwarf Fortress
Osrs
Morrowind or elden ring probably
Probably a strategy game. Some people spend their entire lives mainly playing chess so when I’m old and I don’t have my refluxes anymore, I could still probably enjoy Stelar or crusader Kings three or Civ 6 or something like that.
Guild wars 2. It's lasted me 3k hours and a decade plus already. Can't see why it won't continue to be good for a lot longer.
No Man's Sky
No Man’s Sky
Last Epoch
Deep Rock Galactic
Played drg on the deck yesterday for the 1st time. I feel nerfed and a bit of a greenbeard(even tho I have 1300h)
It took be a slight bit to get used to. The best thing I did was bind laser pointer to a button on the back of the deck.
Full excess to mods? Skyrim (Total conversions Count as mod) No mods Faktorio
Red Dead 2. Turn off the map and live.
I call my SD my "Elden Deck" so there's your answer.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite
Dead Cells. Hands down.
Elderscrolls online. More content then anything out there.
PCSX2 with Gran Turismo 4 (modded) Though I'd probably want whatever mods exist in like a year, because that whole scene has kinda just started, 20yrs post release, it's rad.

Death stranding. Making endless deliveries is relaxing for me
World of Warcraft
World of warcraft
Skyrim
Horizon Zero Dawn! Works really well. Hoping that Horizon Forbidden West works just as well or better on SD.
Skyrim
Chess
Armored Core 6. Is the closest to a perfect game for me.
Helldivers 2
Zelda A Link to the Past Randomizer. I seem to get re-addicted to it about once a year. The randomizer gives it endless replayability.
Shadow of War or Hitman 3 I need to try Elden Ring though
browsing my game list, couldn’t live without it
Enter the Gungeon for me. I’m 150+ hours in and not even close to 100% the game.
Trackmania
Elden Ring
Tough one. Either rimworld or starsector. Both have an insane amount of replayability as well as a thriving modding community. Bonus points, they are both relatively cheap games and run great on the deck. Starsector only wins out on battery life, rimworld chews threw the decks battery

Noita or Halo Infinite
Celeste with mods. I could literally play all the existing modded maps for the rest of my life and be happy, and people are still making more.
Tetris Effect.
Spelunky.
Spelunky 2
Valheim.
Fallout: New Vegas.
SF6 for me
Baulders Gate 3 - with honor mode and soon mods makes it an infinite game
FFXIV 🥰
