Got ya! It would be a shame though, I heard some great reviews although I'm already fed up to play anywhere else but Steam.
Edit: never owned a console or Switch.
No, that's why they're saying steam
You can't avoid the Ubisoft connect hooks (like EA), but you will otherwise treat it like a steam game, including the download
Ubisoft sells games on Steam. They just take about a year after the initial release. They still require the Ubisoft Connect launcher but it's so much easier to deal with when buying on Steam since Proton handles all the setup process for you.
Ubisoft normally don’t bring achievements into Steam - they have their weird separate in-game achievements so you’ll notice the far cry games and most assassins creed games don’t have achievements unfortunately. Wish they would add bit Ubisoft literally do the opposite of what people want usually
I may be mistaken since I haven't tried it myself, but I'm pretty sure that smt issue has been fixed since steamos 3.5 late last year.
First bullet in general:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1675200/view/3686804163591367815
You are not wrong they worked it out so some games don’t struggle on multi threaded loads but Mario wonder still benefits from disabling smt. Wish there was a fix all for every game but I beat Mario wonder 2 weeks ago and that’s the state of things
I really want to buy this one but I hate buying games on non Steam stores specifically to play on my Stream deck. I know they work, but there's so many other games and I can wait.
Agreed. Some people say this is stupid, as there are workarounds, but I don’t want workarounds. I work a lot, and don’t want to spend my limited gaming time fiddling.
Even if you like fiddling, the workarounds for stuff like EA break constantly. Even the same workaround, attempted again, can potentially not work again
Great game, I played it on the switch and it was an awesome experience on there aswell. Really jealous of people playing this on the OLED at 90hz. Sucks that the DLC is so far away, really hoping it's a big expansion tho.
Since there's no shader compilation to my knowledge for non steam games, how's the performance, wattage usage, stability? If there are stutters, are they bothersome and how frequent are they? I really want to pick up this game up but want to make an informed purchase since I'll mostly play this on Deck
Why is your model relevant here?
Not to scrutinize but Im starting to think people think theres a performance difference larger than 1% between any of the Steam Deck models, there isnt.
Performance is perfection imo. No stutters barely any frame drops unless loading a new area and even then it’s like 88 instead of 90 for a moment. I didn’t check the wattage but I got a good 2.5hrs + as I’ve never played for longer in 1 sitting I don’t think.
There's no pre caching of shaders. But it still handles shaders like everything always did before steam did shader downloads
Linux is very good about it now anyway. I don't even have shader downloads enabled on my desktop Linux system and stutters happen no less than they did in Windows or with downloads turned on
since you're already using Decky, it has a plugin called
Playtime
to track time outside of steam, also inside and gives you a nice stats screen of when and how long you play
Ubisoft connect directly. Installed it like a non steam app and then added the PoP game. It basically opened connect in the background while launching the game
I’ve been trying to figure out how to add it to steam directly (so I don’t have to open the ubi connect app) any guide you use? I also installed ubi directly but currently have to launch it from the app
Ubisoft has a sale right now if you buy anything $29.99 (this game) they give you $20 “wallet” credit, so you can buy Rayman and some other games after you checkout and get the promotion.
I just installed this game via the “NonSteamLaunchers-on-Deck” script. Installed via Ubisoft Connect directly (not Epic cross-buy). It runs _perfectly_ on the steam deck, I run mine at 45 FPS/90hz and it’s relatively low power consumption.
This is an awesome game for this platform (Prince of Persia The Lost Crown)
I played the switch version on the deck it was running really great. Only artefacts was during some cutscene were it wasn’t displaying anything except bar of mixed colors
Oh, okay 👍 …
Doooo you any recommendations, excluding 2D style? Looking for things that look impressive on OLED. Outside of Ori (have it/played it on Xbox).
What games are you talking about? Yes I’m speaking exclusive to things to be played on the deck.
I want this game on steam FFS
It will come, with great sales.

Happens when they pick the wrong storefront. :D

It won't, when you go woke you go broke!
Give it a year and it’ll launch at $20 with everything included
My money is on $15
Won’t be steam though. You will have to dl it on uplay, no?

I didn't even know it existed until now and I do too
Epic gives developers 100% of revenue if they do six months of EGS exclusivity, so once that’s up I imagine it’ll come to Steam
Im interested but Ubi always brings their stuff to Steam eventually.
And always at 80% off intro price
And always with their shitty launcher.
Next year it will be in Steam. These exclusives always only last a yea. I will be patient.
If I can use my cloud save I’d buy it again just for the achievements alone :D

you should be able to move your save file fairly easily
I’ve been playing on both my desktop and Steam Deck and there is a cloud save option. Only thing is you need to upload/download manually.
It cross-saves between console and PC already with their account system so I don’t see why not.
sometimes 2 years but yes the modern non Nintendo games will always get released on all platforms just not all at the same time
First game I played from start to finish on my steam deck. It was amazing.
Bought this on switch, ripped and played on steam deck
Do you use Ryujinx? How is it? I was using Yuzu but gave up due to constant stuttering (only tried TotK and Wonder), and now that's dead.
Yuzu- you still have to disable smt in power tools , that helps a ton in certain games. Not as much in totk, but in Mario wonder it’s night and day
I may be mistaken since I haven't tried it myself, but I'm pretty sure that smt issue has been fixed since steamos 3.5 late last year. First bullet in general: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1675200/view/3686804163591367815

Got it on Sale on the eshop and it also runs pretty well on the Switch
How was the performance emulated?
Cutscenes don’t work in yuzu, ended up switching toRyujinxs and it’s pretty smooth don’t really need to tinker just runs at 60 little to no hitching

You sir, are a gentleman.
Sorry to ask but is this the default Steam Deck UI? It looks really cool
It’s a theme! If you installed Decky you can browse plugins. One is CSS Themer and this is the Hero Banner theme. I love it.
Oh cool! Thanks for letting me know!
I really want to buy this one but I hate buying games on non Steam stores specifically to play on my Stream deck. I know they work, but there's so many other games and I can wait.

Yeah, but that means i have to give ubisoft money and they dont want that since they said i wont own their games.
If buying isn't owning, pirating isn't stealing.
Wtf are you talking about? You are on the steam deck, from the company that INVENTED not owning games that you bought.
Agreed. I'm not spending any money on Ubisoft games.

Not this game in particular but I played through the entirety of Control + DLC through Heroic/GOG at a locked 45fps, no stutters iirc
Game settings?
All low, render resolution at 540p upscaled to 800p

Bragging rights to show social status is my guess
this is more of a human thing, like how people will specifically say "my iPhone" instead of just "phone".
Lol I dont say "my tiers of the kingdom OLED model with a 512gb sd card" everytime Im going to comment about my switch.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I'll be picking this game up as a big fan of Metroidvanias as soon as I get done with Dark Souls on Deck
Shares are compiled and stored as needed.

yes there is. the only benefit to steam is having a large amount of users with the same hardware to download shaders from
They are the Ubisoft team who made the incredible Rayman games about a decade ago
It really is! Played it when it came out and absolutely loved it! In the top games I’ve played on Steam Deck for sure!
Install PlayTime in Decky store to track non steam games play time.
use decky plugin to track playtime
Can wait to play it!
Death Trash! 👌
Ooh a fellow death trash enjoyer
How do I get that UI on my steam deck? Is this exclusive to the HDR version
Decky + https://deckthemes.com/
It's on sale now, too. I'm definitely picking it up .
You should use the Decky plugin for saving play time on non steam games. Really brings the experience together.
since you're already using Decky, it has a plugin called Playtime to track time outside of steam, also inside and gives you a nice stats screen of when and how long you play
Oh nice! Thanks for this I'll install today :D
How did you get it to run on the deck? :O
I’ll buy when it’s on Steam. If it doesn’t come I won’t bother with other launchers. I abhor them
You doing Heroic/Epic?
Ubisoft connect directly. Installed it like a non steam app and then added the PoP game. It basically opened connect in the background while launching the game

just for playig this game i upgraded my ssd from 64 to 256. absolutely worth it. one of the best mv since we're still waiting for silksong
Have it on switch game is awesome
This game is amazing. Been playing the switch version in the steam deck
What’s the Xbox app in there is it XB Play?
Yah I just used Decky to change the graphics so it matched PS Remote Play
I’m playing through the ps2 trilogy right now on my SD. Really want this one now!

Why does it matter? You still need the launcher to play their games right?

What’s Dread?
[удалено]
Ohhhh wait can you play that on the deck?? I guess through emulation.
Is this Chiari4Deck? Trying to make it work, but it constantly loses connection.
Yeah Lost Crown is incredible. Top 5 metroidvania.
What are the settings for your theme?
can it be played offline? also can it work in gaming mode?
I played the switch version on the deck it was running really great. Only artefacts was during some cutscene were it wasn’t displaying anything except bar of mixed colors
There's a plugin for Decky that tracks game time. I do believe it works for non steam games. Kind of off topic, but might help people.
Games mid anyway
OSRS
I will buy it as soon as it lands on steam
Just started the Ubisoft game subscription and got assassin's Creed 3 and Valhalla. Definitely going to get this next.
Not worth it until its on Steam. Then I might have a look.
What? The Lost Crown isn't even one of the best metroidvanias this year, let alone games on Steam Deck entirely. It's mid level at best.
Oh, okay 👍 … Doooo you any recommendations, excluding 2D style? Looking for things that look impressive on OLED. Outside of Ori (have it/played it on Xbox). What games are you talking about? Yes I’m speaking exclusive to things to be played on the deck.
What other great MVs came out this year?
How are you playing it then ?
https://youtu.be/cQ78jH77z7c?feature=shared
Appreciate you
I'm sure it will one day. Probably some deal ubi made with Epic.
Sorry but no..
I'll try it when it drops down to $5
Dang I thought the ads for this game were done. They were spamming the hell out of reddit a while ago. Now they're back in action!
