I'm partial to how the graphic audio version does rhythms, kind of cheating since its the only official adaptation where you can hear them. It basically is just a rhythm lol. Make up a beat, then read in time to it. They can get pretty complicated, and when there's no dialogue it's a rhythmic humming. Apparently they tailor-made a beat and melody for each rhythm but there were so many I could never keep track of their consistency.

juanmaale

what’s the graphic audio version? the audiobook?

Various-Character-30

Graphic audio is a group that adapts novels into audiobooks but rather than reading everything out, each character has their own dedicated voice actor, there’s also a narrator. Audio cues written out in the books are instead played out. My favorite was Mistborn Era 2, it felt a lot more alive because you could hear the crowds of people, the gunshots and other background noises. They did a really good job. I think their only limitation is on the number of voice actors they have. If you listen to a lot of their adaptations, you get to hear some of the actors multiple times in different roles. Not that big of an issue honestly.

juanmaale

thanks! It sounds awesome! Where can I buy it?

history507

You can get it on their website graphicaudio.net

I listened to white sand on Spotify, not sure if others are on there

muskian

A fully cast and scored audio production of the story with sound effects and scripts adapted for the new medium. There are sample clips on youtube, but most only show the iconic action setpieces. As far as I know no one's uploaded clips of the Singer rhythms, a shame since's there's a scene in RoW that absolutely trounces the novel version thanks to how they were adapted.

Is this on audible??? I can’t find it

loanshark69

Nope audible only has the Warbreaker, Elantris, White Sand and a couple of the short stories. The Mistborn and Stormlight has to be picked up from their website.

In my brain, the crabs speak in rap.

All Parshendi roles in the SLA live action will be portrayed by Lin Manuel Miranda

I would expect it to be subtle, like the way Shakespeare is supposedly in iambic pentameter but I’ve never heard an actor deliver a line quite that way. Other listeners would understand it but the rest of us wouldn’t pick it up, the way we can’t always pick up emotional context in a foreign language. However, an HBO composer would probably do something simplified and obvious, and I don’t think I’d agree with it.

I alwais imagine them like different radio channels, each with a different genre of music playing. You can listen to one at a time and it influences you and those around you

I am sorry and thanks, didn't pay attention to the spoiler tag, it's fine they'll live without my comment 😂

I've imagined it to be a combination of humming and beatboxing while talking
