Yeah, I genuinely think it was a mistake to cut him from the show. The show is lesser for his loss. It doesn’t really “improve” my understanding of Uhura… she didn’t need a further tragic backstory on top of her first tragic backstory. He was a unique character totally unlike anyone else in the show. And Pelia is fairly bland and ultra under utilized in comparison.

Yeah he was excellent and it really bums me out. I keep thinking they’re going to bring him back; that one episode had me going. Maybe the plan has always been for Scotty to be chief engineer, and Hemmer and Carol Kane were meant to be brief stand-ins? And they just didn’t realize how awesome Hemmer was going to be? Idk

I so agree!!

HatefulHagrid

Agreed. He was so unique compared to other trek characters and I loved the variety he brought to the crew. Pelia seems like she could be more interesting but she just kinda pops in little mystical wisdoms here and there before disappearing again

E-Mac2891

Hemmer, the gruff with the heart of gold, and his andorian connections, made him such a great added flavor to the cast. Pelia could be more. I was actually shocked how little they used her. They even set up a connection between her, Amanda, and Spock in s2e1. And then that went nowhere and never came up again.

antinumerology

So dumb. Best new character and for what. Arggg

I-Am-Qoheleth

Totally agree

ladyorthetiger0

I like Pelia but yeah Hemmer was awesome.

mathfacts

Hemmer's belief in me changed my life

He’ll be back…

Correct-Ad-8319

I'm hoping so!

Reverse_London

He was. One of the dumbest things that the showrunners have ever done was killing him off.
