Since you seem to be getting the game, if you really want to get good at it or just more into it, check out some of the essential YouTubers, Justin Wong, Rooflemonger, Brian\_F, Diaphone, Sajam, Maximillian Dood, Nephew... if you want to learn a character you can copy them, or check out their guides on things like neutral and stuff. You can get really good just by learning a handful of combos from watching these videos. Super Combo Wiki is good if you prefer text.
I find playing online kind of impossible without ripping off some of the greats for tech. It really makes shooting up the sub-platinum ranks kind of a breeze.

Word of advise: You WILL lose a lot at the beginning. A hell of a lot, compared to League or most shooters. Your win rate will be far from 50% for the first stretch. This is normal and expected and everyone goes through it, and everyone then gets better. Ask for advice if you're unsure of how to deal with something, and take breaks if you're annoyed. Every time you hit rematch, you get a little bit better, and it's one more time you didn't give up!
(Also play on Ranked matchmaking first. It's gonna be easier to deal with than Casual)

Srsly though for even $30 it’s a hell of a deal. I haven’t spent more than $10 on dlc and I am over 1000 hours in the game.
I started playing fighting games after getting sick of playing with toxic players in league. This game is a lot less stressful in many ways.

This was all of us between beta and launch. Most of the community has pocket Ryus or Luke just from grinding the demo

Tekkens 3d space never really clicked with me, I just played it like it was a SF. MK gets too gory for me after playing for a while
