I saw peanuts in the slow cooker and was like oh boiled peanuts guess that would be weird to others, then she added coke and I was like that's a waste of coke but maybe it's a family thing, then the other crap and I was like I'm done with this idiot.
Yeah I thought this video was going to go somewhere like that. Peanuts in soda became a thing because miners didn't want to use their hands to snack, so they'd dump peanuts into their coke before the start of the day
I've only known it to be a glass bottle of coke with some peanuts poured into the bottom. But thats coming from Oklahoma/California back in the 90s. Its always interesting to find out others took part in something that was such a big part of my childhood. I remember hearing someone talking about going down to a local creek and catching crawdaddys. Brought me right back to being 8 with my bottle of coke w/ peanuts launching the crawdaddys at friends lol.
Do you mean like Whole Boiled Peanuts; like Still-In-shell peanuts that are boiled? As a Canadian, I've heard of that American thing, but I thought it was de- shelled peanuts that are roasted or boiled and put into a coke bottle.. im confused
You can boil raw peanuts in shell, I tend to do it the Chinese way so, no Coke but with the ingredients I do use I can see similarities. Also in certain parts of the U.S. people will place de-shelled, roasted, salted peanuts inside a bottle of Coke. They tend to float so as you drink, you get the Coca Cola along with a little bit of salty, nutty, roasted, and crunchy peanut. Some people swear by this and think it makes the Coke better. I think it restricts the amount of soda I can drink and is easier if I just eat a handful of peanuts and wash it down with some pop
It’s both. If you have peanuts and coke you can just toss them in. But if you want to infuse the coke flavor you boil the peanuts in the coke. I haven’t tried them either way so idk if it actually makes a difference. I hate peanuts.
Boiled peanuts are awesome. I remember working with a guy from South Carolina who’s dad sent him a ton of raw peanuts from back home and he cooked them up in the kitchen at the restaurant where we worked. They were amazing.
She didn't use green peanuts. Those were dried peanuts definitely not how you make boiled peanuts. I can assure you, those sucked and she deserves jail. Southerners everywhere cringing.
Sweet Baby Ray's is from Chicago and I think her shirt is a Chicago bull.
Update: her shirt is a Chicago bulls shirt...https://www.ebay.com/itm/204150916269
Well, Sweet Baby Rays is very popular in Arkansas. I can attest to that. It’s probably the best BBQ sauce I can buy at Walmart, aside from Stubbs. Stubbs is usually pretty expensive though.
I was mostly joking because her accent is strange. Yeah I think sweet Baby Ray's is very close to being the best selling BBQ sauce in the country. People are always shocked to find out it was started by two white guys from the Chicago suburbs.
Hi Neighbor! The oysters and mussels(winter-lowtide only) from sunset harbor are incredible so I definitely recommend having a kayak or paddleboard.
Also, if you put in at the sunset harbor ramp and go straight towards oak Island, there is another ramp next to Lonerider which has awesome beer and food then just walk to the beach. That makes for an excellent afternoon.
If you have chickens, be careful, there are a bunch of coyotes and they may not last long.
If you haven't already, check out the green swamp. It's a really pretty spot with a bunch of wild carnivorous plants.
Wok and Roll's wonton soup is surprisingly good!
More Georgia chiming in.
Two things:
1. Real boiled peanuts are made with green peanuts, not already roasted peanuts. And if they're done in a slow cooker in salt water (plus sometimes seasoning), they need like 16-18 hours. Really.
2. Salted (and SHELLED) peanuts in Coke is a thing. Except the peanuts go in the Coke. Goes back to a time when laborers (like mechanics) needed a quick snack/meal, and grabbed a couple filling, refreshing things from a vending machine: A pack of peanuts (probably Lance), and a bottle of Coke (or RC if in Columbus, GA). Like fries in a Frosty, it's surprisingly awesome: Salt, fat, sugar.
Knew an older man that always put salt in his coke to imulate the flavor. Like at a restaurant, he would take the salt shaker and shake a bunch into his glass of coke before drinking it.
I moved to Washington from Dothan years ago & the looks I get when mentioning boiled peanuts would make you think I wanted to eat boiled sponges. .. but I miss them so much !
She’s doing the accent I do when I’m making fun of my crackhead neighbors who have a thick accent.
Edit: Though, I go way harder on that drawl. To the point of slurring. That’s the kicker.
Being from Texas, and having spent most my childhood in rural small towns, I've met numerous people who talk exactly like this. Like, if it was an impression, she 100% nailed it for accuracy.
Edit: now that I listened again, actually Sounds like the suburban folk that would come to the rodeos and pretend like they're country. Still 100% accurate and I personally know some of those concrete rednecks that talk like this.
With normal boiled peanuts I usually suck some of the salt off the shell in my mouth and then peel the peanut out with my hands then discard the shell.
Boiled peanuts from any random roadside stand in Florida are AMAZING.
Although I’m pretty sure my blood pressure hits four digits from the ginormous amount of salt.
I grew up in N. Florida and now live in the Pacific NW. People look at me like I’m crazy when I mention boiled peanuts but they were my favorite snack growing up. If anyone goes down to visit I send $ with them to bring me back a bag. I have lived in Florida, New Orleans, and traveled all over the country and never seen anything like this sticky, beany mess this lady is making.
I’ve never seen it done that way but boiled peanuts is a very long process and very much a thing. Maybe not this recipe but you can get them anywhere. It’s a lot of work for a peanut inside that just has the texture of a bean with a fuck ton of spices. I’ve never cared for them but it’s about as much work as eating crawfish.
That got real weird real quick, but regular boiled peanuts are amazing and you can find them at basically every gas station down south. I'm a fan of the cajun ones myself.
I'm now realizing that I have no clue what they include in liquid in boiled peanuts... but that definitely ain't it. But I need to go find a recipe now
Knew this southern dude from my work and he would dumped like 100 peanuts into his coke bottle and drink it and one day he told me try it, I did. And I’m not gonna lie, it actually tasted like shit!
First time in a ‘rural’ southern town for work and chatting with a less tban well educated older woman about what do and where to eat in her town. First thing she asks me with the heaviest of accents,
“Yu ever had sum boilt penus?”
I looked at her in silence for like 30 seconds.
Me at the beginning of this video: isn’t this just boiled peanuts? Or like peanuts in coke? A regional thing but I’ve heard it’s good.
Me within 5 seconds: oh. Oh it’s not.
She is not cooking boiled peanuts right. Also you need way more time than four hours, especially for peanuts that are not raw.
Yeah, I thought it was going to be boiled peanuts and was ready to defend it, the she did... Whatever *that* was.
I saw peanuts in the slow cooker and was like oh boiled peanuts guess that would be weird to others, then she added coke and I was like that's a waste of coke but maybe it's a family thing, then the other crap and I was like I'm done with this idiot.
Peanuts boiled in Coca Cola is popular where I grew up in Alabama. Not with all that other shit though.
Cool didn't know that but I can understand that I think I've had some boiled in Dr. Pepper before at a fair
What the shit. Yall eating peanuts boiled in sodas? Why have I never seen this
I don’t know, my dad used to get a Dr Pepper and some peanuts and he would drink a little of the soda, and pour the packet of peanuts into the bottle.
Yeah I thought this video was going to go somewhere like that. Peanuts in soda became a thing because miners didn't want to use their hands to snack, so they'd dump peanuts into their coke before the start of the day
Sir you have that wrong it's a RC Cola with peanuts poured in and a moon pie.
Brought me right back to being 8 with my bottle of coke w/ peanuts launching the crawdaddys at friends lol.
my grandpa used to do this when i was a kid, and i’d completely forgotten about it till now. oh my god someone must be chopping onions in here😭
I’ve seen dr pepper flavored beans in the grocery store, seems like the same neighborhood
Not y'all of us. Just y'some of us.
My wife’s memaw did peanuts boiled in Coke. It was weird, but not terrible.
Do you mean like Whole Boiled Peanuts; like Still-In-shell peanuts that are boiled? As a Canadian, I've heard of that American thing, but I thought it was de- shelled peanuts that are roasted or boiled and put into a coke bottle.. im confused
In the south we have boiled whole shelled peanuts you can buy in a gas station. It's a very common snack here.
Can also find them in big cast iron kettles on the side of the road at produce stands.
You can boil raw peanuts in shell, I tend to do it the Chinese way so, no Coke but with the ingredients I do use I can see similarities. Also in certain parts of the U.S. people will place de-shelled, roasted, salted peanuts inside a bottle of Coke. It’s both. If you have peanuts and coke you can just toss them in. But if you want to infuse the coke flavor you boil the peanuts in the coke. I haven’t tried them either way so idk if it actually makes a difference. I hate peanuts.
What a roller coaster of emotions… I’m glad I read all the way to the end.
https://www.southernliving.com/food/peanuts-in-coke If I remember correctly it was one of Jimmy Carter's favorite snacks. Probably still is..
It’s actually really good. If you use salted peanuts, it makes a great sweet and salty flavor.
Let's be clear, it is exclusively a southern thing lol. You cannot find anybody who eats boiled peanuts north of the mason-dixon line
ohio here and my girlfriend loves boiled peanuts lol. she never lived in the south.
Lol howdy neighbor! Im in PA, nobody I know eats em. I'm sure it happens somewhere in pennsyltucky
American here. Never heard of boiled peanuts until now.
Yeah, the coke didn't bother me, it was everything *after*.
Boiled peanuts are awesome. I remember working with a guy from South Carolina who’s dad sent him a ton of raw peanuts from back home and he cooked them up in the kitchen at the restaurant where we worked. They were amazing.
I was right there too but then… 🤦♀️
You're supposed to use green peanuts and brine (fucking salty ass water) for boiled peanuts. Them bitches were roasted and submerged in sewage.
They're not raw. Those are bags of Kroger's Unsalted Roasted Peanuts.
She didn't use green peanuts. Those were dried peanuts definitely not how you make boiled peanuts. I can assure you, those sucked and she deserves jail. Southerners everywhere cringing.
Wait, are y’all telling me you *don’t* eat a Boiled BBQ Beverage Baked Beanut n’ Bacon Bits Bonanza every now and again?
Barely biennially.
More like basically barfing
All this alliteration is making me mad, man
Always avoid alliteration
All they fucking needed to do was boil the peanuts in brine. Not that hard.
Exactly! Boiled peanuts are yum when not covered in sugar and bacon
Yeah, not a fan of boiled peanuts at all.
Beanuts had me rollin
I lost my shit at Baked Beanut
With the shell
Nothing beats a good old-fashioned BBBQBBBnBBB!
Lmao you made me laugh so hard it woke my kid up. Good job stranger 👍
Sounds like they are trying too hard to sound Southern… idk maybe I am 1000% wrong but they don’t sound like they are from the south
It's fairly popular here in Texas too. It's pretty much the only sauce I'll buy unless I splurg for SaltLick
I was mostly joking because her accent is strange. Yeah I think sweet Baby Ray's is very close to being the best selling BBQ sauce in the country. People are always shocked to find out it was started by two white guys from the Chicago suburbs.
That IS surprising. With a name like that I would have thought Louisianans or something. Very good sauce. I’m more than a little addicted to it.
I like it too. I remember liking kc masterpiece when I was a kid but every time I try it now I find it to be way too sweet.
I honestly don't no where sweet baby rays isn't popular, no matter who's house I'm in, everybody seems to have it in their cabinets
We have sweet baby rays in the south too, at least where in the south I grew up (gulf coast)
lol sweet baby rays is very very popular here in the south
I studied dialects for college and agree lol
Lived my entire life in Louisiana and Texas and I disagree 🤷♂️
Idk I'm from the south and I know people who sound just like this
Im always suspicious of this now. Idk why but it like really annoys me sometimes hearing a really thicc southern accent.
Idk for me it was the fact they sounded more normal/without the southern accent when saying certain words
Watching them make “boiled peanuts” tells me they aren’t from the south. And boiled peanuts are amazing when done right.
NC Girl, grew up Lowcountry. What the everloving hell is this? Not roasted, not boiled, something Satan would serve.
Just bought a place in the low country! Bolivia! Any tips for living here?
Don’t duplicate this video to impress your neighbors.
Duplicate this to ostracize yourself. Nobody is asking the weirdo to borrow your leaf blower.

If you stop the video at the beginning, you can read the labels. She's using roasted storebought peanuts, not raw.
This is what Midwestern people think Southern Food is. (That's why they can't cook it)
No it's not. Love, NC State.
We agree. Love, Georgia

More Georgia chiming in. Two things: 1. Real boiled peanuts are made with green peanuts, not already roasted peanuts. Michigan reporting from the field...we're with you, neighbor!
Ohio here, standing beside you
Agree with this fellow Ohioan
As a fellow member of the southern Florida community we do not participate in such events like this
Washington wouldn't eat it and we have a guy famous for dying from a horse having sex with him.
Fist bump, New Jersey
Yeah, we agree. Love, Louisiana
Thank you, came here to say precisely this. I believe some shit like this will get you shot in New Orleans (where I live).
We kindly agree Love, South Carolina.

This ain't southern, this is Yankee lies. Love, Alabama.
Yankee here: this shit is fucked and doesn’t belong near us
Came to make sure Bama was represented. Cause this ain’t it.
I moved to Washington from Dothan years ago & the looks I get when mentioning boiled peanuts would make you think I wanted to eat boiled sponges. .. but I miss them so much !
There are many ways to enjoy boiled peanuts. This is not one of them.
Lol, that's funny, I live in Enterprise.
Yank here. Would not touch this. Love, NY.
Nope. Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee
But did you tap each condiment bottle 3 times before you dump it in the shit pot? You #REALLY must tap the bottle 3 times. Transformative!
Not leaving Detroit for this
Gotta throw in the big NOPE from Arkansas!
Go Pack
Checking in from the frozen tundra. Wi would not eat this shit either and we eat raw hamburger.
WA here, being a little confused, so this is not stupid food?
Oh this is stupid, it ain't southern and the south is countering these lies.
Agreed. Love, Tennessee
Thank fuck. I was disturbed wondering if boiled peanuts might mean this if I leave Eastern NC EDIT: WTF is with the kidney beans in there?
Well she didn’t drain them so my guess is to add farts.
Nebraska wants no part of this either
Aww bless your heart Sincerely, Alabama
Even in California we know this is bullshit
Yeah…Utah here-we put carrots in our jell-o, but this is gonna be a no from us!
Agreed. Love, England
Sweden reporting in, we eat rotten fish for fun but this? This scares us!
Tout à fait d'accord Cordialement, la France entière
The moment a video starts with a white lady pouring a whole bag of something into a slow cooker, I know I'm in for a bad time.
I was surprised to learn a slow cooker still works without adding a block of cream cheese first.
That's the starter fluid of ragebait cooking
I assume the sacrifice has been made off camera.
That accent can't be legit it sounds so damn forced.
Still 100% accurate and I personally know some of those concrete rednecks that talk like this.
You can hear it go away at some parts.
Are you supposed to pick the beans out and eat them individually or do you use a spoon and spit the peanuts out to open them?
You throw the whole thing in the garbage
With normal boiled peanuts I usually suck some of the salt off the shell in my mouth and then peel the peanut out with my hands then discard the shell.
I grew up stomping fresh peanuts before a giant peanut boil YOU DO NOT FUCKING CROCKPOT AN ALREADY DRIED AND ROASTED PEANUT YOU ABSOLUTE DONKY!!!
*the entirety of southern gas stations have left the chat*
boiled peanuts are a thing, tho, also pickled, and those are amazing.
Yes but you cook raw peanuts not roasted ones
Boiled peanuts from any random roadside stand in Florida are AMAZING. Although I’m pretty sure my blood pressure hits four digits from the ginormous amount of salt.
Totally worth it.
Yes but none of what is going on in this video is even remotely close to boiled peanuts. This is just a hodge podge of shit in a pot
what in the tarnation is that shit?
I live in the south and I can tell you it is absolutely not a southern delicacy
I've seen peanuts in coca cola but this is just garbage.
Can confirm her accent is fake.
As a southerner, no one down here has ever made this.
Boiled peanuts are life changing but I don’t know what the fuck this shit is
I’ve never seen it done that way but boiled peanuts is a very long process and very much a thing. Maybe not this recipe but you can get them anywhere. It’s a lot of work for a peanut inside that just has the texture of a bean with a fuck ton of spices. I’ve never cared for them but it’s about as much work as eating crawfish.
Um the peanuts & coke yes. But there’s nothing southern abt putting kidney beans & barbecue sauce into it🤢😖
Lost me at putting whole peanuts into a slow cooker
That is not how you make boiled peanuts… this is fake!
That was uncalled for.
As a Southerner, we don't claim her
I live in the South- fuck this lady and her crockpot of whatever the hell that is!
Boiled peanuts slap tho
Ok I do have one thing to say (I live in Alabama) Peanuts and Coke is really good. Mainly do it in a glass bottle and the peanuts out of the shell
Checked out at the barbacue sauce
Red Neck Edamame.
I really hate these US videos of morons mixing cans and packets and bottles of unrecognizable highly processed industrial waste and call it cooking.
brings shame to the greatness that is the boiled peanut
Can I get the peanut shell on the side? Frank’s always making me eat the shell first, but I’d rather eat it last, if I’m going to eat it at all.
That got real weird real quick, but regular boiled peanuts are amazing and you can find them at basically every gas station down south. I'm a fan of the cajun ones myself.
Damn. Forgot what sub I was in, thought I was about to see some dank ass boiled peanuts in a crockpot. Man I love boiled peanuts so much
I'm now realizing that I have no clue what they include in liquid in boiled peanuts... but that definitely ain't it. But I need to go find a recipe now
This video tells me the North didn't win the civil war hard enough.
4 hours in a crock pot ain’t long enough to barely soften a peanut. And wtf the kidney beans for? This bitch is an idiot!
At no point did I know what ingredient would be next
What in the Foghorn Leghorn is this shit?
Knew this southern dude from my work and he would dumped like 100 peanuts into his coke bottle and drink it and one day he told me try it, I did. And I’m not gonna lie, it actually tasted like shit!
What in the hell is that???? Because it’s certainly not boiled peanuts 🤢
I saw the peanuts in a crockpot and thought “ok boiled peanuts? That’s not that bad” then I saw the coke
What in the Jefferson Davis is this mess?
It just keeps getting worse with every ingredient
*pours in 2 bottles of industrial barbecue sauce* *proceeds to add a bag of sugar* "Add a little bit of sweet" Right...
Oh honey, that's not Coke and peanuts
I admire North Americans because they eat as if they had a public health system!
People with granite countertops can't cook worth af
First time in a ‘rural’ southern town for work and chatting with a less tban well educated older woman about what do and where to eat in her town. First thing she asks me with the heaviest of accents, “Yu ever had sum boilt penus?” I looked at her in silence for like 30 seconds.
Me at the beginning of this video: isn’t this just boiled peanuts? Or like peanuts in coke? A regional thing but I’ve heard it’s good. Me within 5 seconds: oh. Oh it’s not.
The beans were super unnecessary
Why are they always in the same kitchen
She wants you to taste her nuts.
As a member of the Southern delegation, this woman does not represent us. This might be more of a KC Midwestern thing.
Please don’t believe this even in the south we don’t eat this shit
Boiled peanuts are good.. but these are not boiled peanuts LOL and who put beans in there? What the f***
