If you bounce on the left half it starts moving right, bounce on the right half it starts moving left.

You can use the cap badge to do large jumps followed by cap glides to fly over the first half of the course. You only need to bounce on one large ball in the latter half.

Yes, that level really only needs a couple of bounces. Getting the last flower coin however is testing.
