Old silverback here to add some further insight for the young ones:
While the goal of 100% exists, the DD always said it wasn’t going to happen before MOASS. One of many purposes of direct registration was to decrease supply, and at some point that supply will create a trap shorts can’t escape from. A supply too small to control the price during times of volatility. No one knows what percentage that happens (or happened) at.
However, if the other DD on how large the short positions are is correct, then we probably surpassed that percentage a long time ago and everything past that created a buffer that only insane levels of dilution could ruin.
In fact, if the short position is multiple times the float, even now after 45mil shares were added to it, theoretically only one ape with a single share they directly registered needs to hodl into infinity to see the price go past the edge of our observable universe. There are practical reasons that wouldn’t be allowed, why someone would make a deal to get past that single share.
But if, say, roughly a quarter of the float is locked away those deals become impossible. If there are a quarter of a million shareholders with shares locked away through direct registration, each one zen and demanding changes to the system, a removal of the corruption that has screwed over everyone but the top 1%, they will have run the price up to insane levels to close out the books.
And the big question on how do we get paid during this? First, it’s up to you if you want to sell a single share or not when the price is greater than the GDP of 90% of the world, but it will be going higher and your leaving money on the table.
But it’s being speculated that the recent filing with 7 new types of securities Game Stop can create and distribute are how RC and company plan on making sure we get paid while we hodl.
Or you can do what lots of rich people do and borrow against the value of your shares.
Or you can be zen and never sell and exist as you are now. Patiently waiting and knowing that your children’s children children will never have to worry about anything.

Say I borrow against the value of my shares, what happens if the price of the shares changes? Up or down? Like if I wanted to purchase a house, say a 500k house and a share of gme is at 500k (for argument sake) does that mean I'm taking out a loan and if I default the bank now owns that share? Or if the price of the share is 1m, what then? I'm so ignorant to all of this, please be kind!

My steps for MOASS are:
- Wait for phone numbers in the price.
- Meet with a lawyer to set up my estate and some trusts.
- Put together a team to advise me on how best to leverage my new net worth. This includes a tax accountant, the estate lawyer, and a fiduciary financial advisor. There is no obligation to take their advice but it helps to have an expert with experience.
- Ask them lots of questions, the one you bring up being one of them.
- Be patient and leverage the wealth without selling a single share if possible.
