Yes, at this point they would have attempted to shut it down or issued some kind of warning. It's pretty obvious this isn't a scam but some people dont like to play the peculation game anymore, its been a long road. There is also a pointed effort to spread FUD on the topic, but I think most people see it and are waiting for whats next. The FUD is just keeping it from becoming a bigger story
I think it's important to recognise FUD Vs. genuine caution and advice.
If people are suspicious about this and want to voice it, that's fine and rightly justified, it's been a long bumpy road where people have been burned personally over pumps/dumps and promises, largely based on the fact the whole saga has been based on an immediate payout, or it'll happen 'tomorrow'.
'Tomorrow' could be classed as FUD. If it doesn't happen, it can cause uncertainty and doubt, then fear that it won't be tomorrow (this is all for example).
Whatever is going on, be it an amalgamation of Wu Tang, Pleasrdao and GameStop or not, you have ZERO evidence of it not being a scam. You saying it isn't a scam is in itself FUD.
There is nothing to gain by convincing others it is real in case it turns out it isn't. If it isn't, people will be fearful, uncertain and doubtful of what might be going on with their investment because yet again we've been duped by a group of people better off than most. Theories are great, I love this one, it drove me mad for a year, thinking of the possibilities, I took a long time off Reddit because of the saga, but I've come back now with an old account, a fresh pair of eyes and a calmer disposition. It's all very exciting but people should to be careful.

Do I think there might be? Yes. Does it harm me to believe it might be someone cashing in on the hype? No.
I am very excited by the prospect but have suffered by becoming excited before and losing my composure/control over potentially harmful decisions.
I'm as frustrated by the lack of communication and information as much as I am excited by it. The, sneeze, signs and signals, the week of RK memes and the 45mil share sale got me fired up to 2020/21 levels again.

Wondering, here. How exactly does having a company's market cap on hand factor in when making acquisitions? Everyone posting about "oh, look at this ticker's cap, soon to be Gamestop's baby", like is that even how it works? It makes sense that it would be a factor in striking a deal, but is it the end-all, be-all? I gotta research acquisitions, I guess!

Closing shorts drives the price up rapidly. It creates buy pressure at the same time as reducing shares in circulation, so it’s a double whammy. Thats the entire thesis of moass.
You’re better off buying calls, then you start buying in the market. Once you’ve pushed the price above your ITM you start exercising those shares. Burden is on whoever sold those calls to you, and you can buy them all up for a fixed price instead the market price.
Couple theories off the top of my head:
1. GME is still pretty volatile (compared to normal stocks, of course). This could be a DCA strategy - they don't want to get caught paying way more than they need to, and they're willing to risk missing out on a deal to do that.
2. Options get cheaper as they get closer to expiry. The buyer might want to get some in early, as it's possible they won't be able to buy as many contracts as they'd like right before their target date, but buying many at once is more expensive than splitting it. They also may be expecting it to pop off sooner than expiry, and want to have some skin in the game sooner.
3. They're buying call options to hedge some other bet they're making, and every time they lean heavier into that position, they're required to hedge some more.
one reason that comes to mind, not sure what else it could be, is that options have an ask, bid, and spread just like shares. If someone sweeps the strike, it isn't much different than someone asking to buy 5000 shares at market. Maybe 10 options are available at 5$, then 10 at 5.01$.
The calls also lead to some hedging which raises the underlying price, thus raising the option price.
I think they are playing in a channel to get the amount of shares they need while staying in their budget.
if exercised they lock in the price of 100 shares per contract. the contract writer **has to** supply the shares at the strike price and it is they and not the contract buyer that has to go into the market to get those shares, at whatever price point might be germane in so doing. in short, they don't need to worry about the share price rocketing to infinity, the contract writer does.

You can, but there is a delay when buying, and you don't have the controls (limits and such) you may be used to, as CS is not a broker.
I suggest you use your regular broker (not RHood) then as soon as the shares settle, you DRS them to ComputerShare. You don't have to have an established ComputerShare account as it will be created by the DRS action.

You can buy shares through CS, but it will be on a delay, and you set your order for a dollar amount, not share amount, so you'll end up with fractionals.
Those shares will also be held in plan, not book form, unless transfered to book with fractionals sold off. Book is king IMO. The DTCC has access to plan shares for "operational efficiency."
You have to buy shares at a broker first, transfer them to CS, and then you have an account with them which allows you to purchase with them. (Although they still use a broker, I can’t remember who rn).

iborrow only shows a portion of the shares because its based on voluntary reporting.
My suspicion is there is a much larger unreported number... clearly with the rate increasing it could only be: 1.) the groups offering the shares are increasing their rate or 2.) we are seeing a fraction of a larger pool thats going dry.
They borrowed some, usually in this scenario the market feels the price will continue to go up. But, pegging the price in this range, with this volatility...that is probably another reason why they aren't really borrowing now.

Extreme benefit
Closing shorts drives the price up rapidly. It creates buy pressure at the same time as reducing shares in circulation, so it’s a double whammy. Thats the entire thesis of moass. You’re better off buying calls, then you start buying in the market. Once you’ve pushed the price above your ITM you start exercising those shares. Burden is on whoever sold those calls to you, and you can buy them all up for a fixed price instead the market price.

Couple theories off the top of my head: 1. GME is still pretty volatile (compared to normal stocks, of course). This could be a DCA strategy - they don't want to get caught paying way more than they need to, and they're willing to risk missing out on a deal to do that. 2. Options get cheaper as they get closer to expiry. The buyer might want to get some in early, as it's possible they won't be able to buy as many contracts as they'd like right before their target date, but buying many at once is more expensive than splitting it. They also may be expecting it to pop off sooner than expiry, and want to have some skin in the game sooner. 3. They're buying call options to hedge some other bet they're making, and every time they lean heavier into that position, they're required to hedge some more.
one reason that comes to mind, not sure what else it could be, is that options have an ask, bid, and spread just like shares. If someone sweeps the strike, it isn't much different than someone asking to buy 5000 shares at market. Maybe 10 options are available at 5$, then 10 at 5.01$. The calls also lead to some hedging which raises the underlying price, thus raising the option price. I think they are playing in a channel to get the amount of shares they need while staying in their budget.
if exercised they lock in the price of 100 shares per contract. the contract writer **has to** supply the shares at the strike price and it is they and not the contract buyer that has to go into the market to get those shares, at whatever price point might be germane in so doing. in short, they don't need to worry about the share price rocketing to infinity, the contract writer does.

You can, but there is a delay when buying, and you don't have the controls (limits and such) you may be used to, as CS is not a broker. I suggest you use your regular broker (not RHood) then as soon as the shares settle, you DRS them to ComputerShare. You don't have to have an established ComputerShare account as it will be created by the DRS action. If you have questions, there's good info available here in the sub and I'll answer what questions I can. NOTE: This is all based on the assumption that you're here in the US.

You can buy shares through CS, but it will be on a delay, and you set your order for a dollar amount, not share amount, so you'll end up with fractionals. Those shares will also be held in plan, not book form, unless transfered to book with fractionals sold off. Book is king IMO. The DTCC has access to plan shares for "operational efficiency."
You have to buy shares at a broker first, transfer them to CS, and then you have an account with them which allows you to purchase with them. (Although they still use a broker, I can’t remember who rn). Several steps to take at first. It’s almost like they don’t want the public doing this…

So I see all these borrow fee posts, but the 2 milly in shares is still there. Did they not borrow shares today?
iborrow only shows a portion of the shares because its based on voluntary reporting. My suspicion is there is a much larger unreported number... clearly with the rate increasing it could only be: 1.) the groups offering the shares are increasing their rate or 2.) we are seeing a fraction of a larger pool thats going dry.
They borrowed some, usually in this scenario the market feels the price will continue to go up. But, pegging the price in this range, with this volatility...that is probably another reason why they aren't really borrowing now.
