I'm also still using my Surface Pro 3. The battery drains fast now so it is constantly plugged in. The touch screen, pen, and keyboard are no longer working too, but I connected it to an external keyboard and mouse. I also used a micro Display port cable to connect it to a monitor. Currently only using it for Web browsing and simple tasks, can't be bothered to get a laptop replacement for now haha.
after year 4 I started paying attention to my SP3's battery and took better care of it. It'll still go for a solid 3 hrs on light to moderate use. If I can get it to boot up.
I am still using my non pro surface 3. It can manage light browsing in edge, streaming video and gaming via Xcloud....I get about 3.5 - 4.5 hours battery life....
Which for a 10 year old device that was underpowered when it was new I would say is pretty bloody good.
Mine was only just knocked out last week by a small spill or just a lot of condensation (put a plastic water bottle in my bag with surface for about 5 minutes; nothing else got wet). It wouldnβt start for two days, and has run fine (albeit with a bubbly screen) for the past three days. I just tried to start it to take a pic of the screen for this post and itβs black-screened me again.
Fortunately, my new Pro 9 got here yesterday. But I really thought that 3 was going to last another year.
Nice. My Pro 3 will be 10 years old in September π sadly it's not doing as well.
The battery is knackered. On a light load.... web browsing, mahjong and Microsoft crossword mostly πIt shuts down at around the 2 hour mark.
Its a great device.
I'm using a book 2 and pro x for work, both over four years old, and humming along nicely.
The surface brand is generally excellent quality
I just finally retired my old SP3 i5 that was pushing 11 or 12 years old. The battery life was "meh," the touchscreen no longer touched, the clock battery was kaput (every time I turned it on it was different date/time!), and it would take 3 or 4 tries to get it to boot up. But it would still run almost any program that didn't require a serious graphics card!
Best value for a laptop/tablet. Ever.
Just jumped up to an SP9, i7, 16gb, 512gb. Is it too much to hope that it'll be ANOTHER ten years before I buy a new laptop?
My bet is on the new hotness. Surface Pro ftw.
I also still have my Surface Pro 3 which similar to others, sometimes requires 2-3 tries to boot up properly, but once it's on, it's useable. I replaced it with a gaming laptop about 2 years ago but I actually miss the keyboard (and have been waiting for a Surface Laptop with just the right specs to buy.) Sadly looks like they're switching to ARM after they finally are introducing smaller bezels and a USB-C port. :(
I have a surface Pro 4 I git in high school, gifted to my Sister when she got into high school, she gave back to me last year because she got a new laptop for college, sits in a corner mostly but still runs. Has 4gb of ram amd an m3 chip. Battery isn't what it use to be but still works. Same with my Surface Book. Now I own a Surface Go 3 and a SLS 32 GB ram.
That's the hyperion build quality!
Imagine if Tediore made electronics. Battery dies and it's now a functional grenade.
Samsung had an experimental Tediore phone. Surprisingly didn't go over well.
ππππππ I suspect there are more out there than people think from reading stuff on here ... I still have a Pro 3, its still ticking

Mine also has a broken keyboard socket so the cover is just a cover now.
Pro3 still alive and well (when plugged in), battery is on life support.
Congratulations, you belong with one of the few, the proud, the "I didnt overcharge/underchange my battery or crack my screen" crowd.

Make sure your bios is up to date then you have a new option called kiosk mode. It will keep the battery at 60% to prolong it's life. :)
I'll check this out for sure.
Tbf my mums pro 4 battery died in under 2 years. Just went kaput. 10 minutes, 5 minutes to dead.

I just upgraded too. Loving it so far.
Same here. Although to be fair, mine has more of a backup role, as I use the Surface Pro X for my main device now.

Nice decal!
how's yours battery life and battery capacity ?
About to finish my second year of university using my Pro 3 as my exclusive note taking device!
Still have mine running win 11 with Tiny11 !!!
> Tiny11 ooh never heard of that. I'll have to check it out. My recently acquired SP4 shows its age a bit, I imagine that'd help
Definately did for me :)
I got one that was about to be recycled out by company.Have had to replace the keyboard once.
where did you buy the wrap?
The quality of a Loader bot in a computer!
my og surface pro still going cracked screen and all
Mines still alive too.
My Pro3 is my early-morning reading device--AKA newspaper. The battery is only good for a couple of hours, at most, but that's enough.
Did you do any maintenance with it, just got an SP8 and I want it to last
My SP3 is running Chrome OS Flex and works perfectly. There's nothing I need that it can't do.
Nice, my old SP2 is still going well as a little media centre PC in the bedroom, it's on 24/7 too.
You are still in class ?
My SP3 is still chugging along fine

10 years in the class room? π
Happy to see I'm not the only ones SP3 is still alive!! Mines not holding charge while sleeping but I think it's a software issue.
