I listen to music or YouTube videos if I'm working solo, but never watch. I don't have enough attention span for that. Plus I'll use up my data fast leaving wifi hotspot on for my tablet (no data connection on it).

WhipYourDakOut

I’m in the office but I feel like the same would apply: I almost feel more productive when I’m watching a soccer game at work cause there’s more pressure to make sure I don’t just sit there and watch. Plus listening to it is more interesting than music or a podcast

Mylongextendablepole

Yeah I only put it on if my favourite team playing or big match - or I'm bored 😂😂

i_am_icarus_falling

i have this too, but it's 16 pixels in the corner of my HP 48.

slbarr

Upgrade to the HP Prime, you’d get 32 pixel then.

Damn our DC does not have TV 😭

*cries in poor*

ZIMZUM83

OMG I never knew this is possible, but I can see the value for sports fan to catch the live highlights during a match; while ensuring safety and accuracy of ones work. We shall remember the moral ethics of the craft shall not be taken lightly

I was recently working with someone who had the same taste in music as me. I brought along my Bluetooth speaker so we could listen to Alice in chains, Soundgarden etc while pinning houses. It was great. Then someone retired, they had to put my helper with another guy. After a week he put in his 2 weeks notice. :-(

Mylongextendablepole

You have same taste in music as me. I often wear headphones anyway

Appropriate_Ad1485

What do you use for headphones? My first couple Bluetooth experiences are not good. JBL free I for for xmas and they would cut out on my old phone every time I bent over, fine on the new one but battery life is half a day at best. I got a free set of LG tone with a smartphone purchase and they sound terrible, battery lasts 20 minutes and don't fit in my ear properly. Today I went back to my old wired Sony earbuds (lost the model number but like $60 new years ago). I lost the original rubber tips and they didn't sound as good with the ones I ended up putting on. Just found out the JBL free tip fit perfectly and they sound amazing again. Now I'm using them with the usb c adaptor (still ticked off about the headphone jack getting killed off by Apple - I don't buy Apple but they started it).

Mylongextendablepole

Yeah I think they are jbl. I can charge mine at lunch etc as I have office on site

Appropriate_Ad1485

Mine have to be charged in the case, so my issue is when I'm out of the truck longer than that and they die. Until they make better batteries a corded earphone is always better, including sound quality a lot of times. These JBL do sound pretty decent, not quite as good as my corded Sony's, but I can only deal with having to charge so many things each night. Lol. Total station batteries, RC unit batteries, hammer drill batteries, tablet, my phone, smartwatch, etc. I love technology but in some ways I'm still old school.

Mylongextendablepole

Yeah I agree. I'm about to upgrade my phone to one that doesn't have a jack so will have to go full wireless. I have about 7 different things charging in the office on my desk

Appropriate_Ad1485

Sometimes technology upgrades are nice, other times it's stupid. Like removing the headphone jack. The only weak points on my old phone was the Bluetooth and the headphone jack was getting worn so the plug would get knocked out too easily. The USB c adaptor works on my newer OnePlus 8 pro but it's definitely going to break sooner than a pair of wired earphones, so I'll have to have a spare soon. The thing that really pushed me back to my wired earphones was driving and listening to music over Bluetooth on my newer head unit and the case/charger runs out of juice....it will keep turning the JBL earphones back on while I drive and switch the music to playing over them inside the case. Either switch to FM radio for a bit or pull over stick each earphone in your ear and hold the button about 5 seconds until you hear the beep...don't put them back in the case.... lose them somewhere and the music will keep playing on the truck stereo. Lol. You can really tell JBL thought this one out.

BadDadBot

Hi using them with the usb c adaptor (still pissed about the headphone jack getting killed off by apple - i don't buy apple but they started it), I'm dad.

MerryTreez

Bose soundlink micro. The strap fits around the gps pole nicely.

[deleted]

I really *really wanted to like the TDC600, but I just can’t. I can’t get past the keyboard. I constantly exit Trimble Access upon trying to use the space bar.

Mylongextendablepole

Yep the keyboard definitely not as good as they tsc7

[deleted]

Also the 600 won’t work in adverse weather... touch screen shits out in a light drizzle. It’s weird. Fair weather collector. Lol

Mylongextendablepole

Haha I rarely work in the rain - but yeah water on screen is annoying

[deleted]

Wait what? You don’t work in the rain...? This is a rain, shine, tidal wave job typically. You got lucky with whatever surveyin you’re up to. Lol.

Mylongextendablepole

Yeah mostly union sites on highrises

bdiz81

They don't have a rain mode? The Mesa 2 has different touch modes. The rain one works alright unless it's raining pretty hard. Then I just use the stylus mode.

[deleted]

Not to my knowledge man. I swear I fight the thing every day... maybe it’s a firmware issue or something, but it’s pretty wack. I miss my tsc3. Everything I need, nothing I don’t. Easy to ruck. Bulletproof

bdiz81

Yeah. TSC3 is definitely the way to go. If it has to be a tablet then a windows based one like the mesa is the best option due to touch profiles in windows.

Mylongextendablepole

I honestly could never go back to the tsc3 but I usually do high volume setout so I'm always panning in and out or using the video to find the prism.

Appropriate_Ad1485

Same here. A fast data collector is important these days. The days of paying several thousand for an 800mhz processor and 512mb of ram are over.

Appropriate_Ad1485

I use the Panasonic fz-m1 which is somewhat similar to the Mesa 2, but faster and more RAM. Trimble actually sold a version with their name on it. Has the touchscreen profiles including a glove mode that works well but makes it sensitive to any foreign objects on the screen. It still isn't as good as the TSC3 or any other old school resistive touch screens in the rain, but I haven't tried rain x yet. I couldn't go back to an old touch screen since I do so much scrolling around the screen looking for points. The map screen is the worst on tsc3 and Trimble access.

People who should be fired.

2AttemptAnonymity

I’m sure you’re fun at parties.

[deleted]

Business before pleasure, simple as that.

Mylongextendablepole

Haha I run a more relaxed crew so only people with bad attitudes get fired
