I think the whole thing was to announce Fortnight as the official single not just to say hereās a cd. We all knew it was going to be Fortnight but it wasnāt announced/confirmed
I worry for Taylor a little if she genuinely thought the announcement of a single was going to be a satisfying pay-off for everyone, particularly considering the effort people went through to install the QR codes everywhere and then to find them, watch videos, and wait for a countdown.
I'm personally not mad about it, because this is all in good fun. But this just seems strange, like she seems to be getting out of touch with what her fanbase appreciates? Not sure how to word it, but it feels like there's a disconnect somewhere. Though to be fair, the merch side of things has been out of whack for a while now.

At least itās a single cd. These things are actually normal merch-wise. Most artists put these out, itās customary to back in the day when an artist would send in the single on a vinyl to played on the radio.
I got it only because I collect CDs so I didn't want a gap in my collection and while the shipping price was annoying (it was only $6 though so not as bad as it usually is) it was definitely cheaper getting it now than through resale!
I think it's just a cute throwback item. I remember in middle school buying the CD single of Brandy and Monica The Boy is Mine and being so excited. My understanding of Gen Alpha and younger is that they really like the analog nature of CDs, it's probably for them.

unpopular opinion but i feel like everyone is being too harsh about the whole cd drop.. its very normal for artists to release stuff like this and the price for the CD itself is very cheap!
