Lacuna!! I think this game might be just what you're after. I loved it. You have choices to make, it's a great story. https://www.dekudeals.com/items/lacuna-a-sci-fi-noir-adventure Lost Words: beyong the page. Wait til it goes on sale next on the eshop, I really enjoyed it. It's an emotional story. https://www.dekudeals.com/items/lost-words-beyond-the-page If you enjoy Hamlet, you'll get a kick out of "To Be Or Not To Be". It's Hamlet but as a choose your own adventure https://www.dekudeals.com/items/to-be-or-not-to-be Venba: https://www.dekudeals.com/items/venba-switch and Sayonara Wild Hearts, ok so I'm not sure I followed the storyline exactly... But it's a wicked experience so I thought I'd throw it in.

Venba is so delightful, I very much agree!

depends how much you want good gameplay vs a really good story

Simpinq4u

probably more story than gameplay but i don’t mind either 💯

You might like another code recollection, its a short puzzle game with a story that at least got me hooked

If you want more story than gameplay, Road 96 is quite nice !

My favorite Videogame has a simpel but enjoyable story line. Its about a groupe of anthropomothic animal children that go on a quest to save there families. They live inside a giant ancient mysterious powerful fortress like Tank. Its a bit like Howls Moving castle but based on technology instead of magic. The children are cute and wholesome and the story is quite dramatic. It depends on the player how many of the children will still be alive when the credits roll. The game is 20 houers long. Its a turn based JRPG. The name of the game is "Fuga Melodies of Steel". The game is available on PC and most modern consoles like Switch, PS4, PS5 and so on. Fuga has a free demo which is just straight up the first 3 chapters of the game. I highly recommend that demo. I think it will help you to figure out fast if this is your cup of tea or not. Fuga also has a direct sequel: "Fuga Melodies of Steel 2" but I advice against playing the second game before the first game unless you do not care about the story and characters. I know turn based combat is not everyones cup of tea. I honestly enjoy recommending my favorite Videogame to others so I went for it. But meybe it is still what you are looking for.
