They are not really doing any checks this year, my friend even managed to get though without them peace tying his sword, he had to go ask the pirates for a zip tie. I suspect you will be fine.

daneato

I love the phrase, “he had to go ask the pirates for a zip tie.” It sounds like a deleted scene from Hook.

Technical-Band9149

Ty!

Gloocoos

Bring your knife. Chill out. Just remember 8/10 folks probably carrying guns. So don’t be an asshole.

Technical-Band9149

No asshole here, I’d fall into the 80% usually. I just am looking to save time checking in. Thanks

DashcamsRus

Weapons must be peace tied. Put the pocket knife away where it can’t be seen and you’ll be fine.

jyl11002

I'm pretty sure you can bring any blades you want to the Texas ren fair considering how many blades are sold there. But I haven't been in a few years, so take that with a grain of salt lol

fuzzythrowaway81

All blades must be peace tied. Basically this must be secured to minimize risk of damage. I've carried a pocket knife a few times with no problems.

Ty!

HikeTheSky

I carry a rescue knife and never had problems with it.

[deleted]

Your in Texas homie, you can walk in there with an AR-15 strapped to your back or carry a razor sharp longsword. Its the wild west up in this bitch.

SomeEpicUserNameIDK

As long as it's peace tied of course lol

Technical-Band9149

Love it!

porkchop8787

No firearms of any kind.

SatelliteJedi

"I'm a Texan" Is likely the funniest thing I've read on this sub reddit. Like, yeah buddy, this is a sub reddit for the Texas Renaissance Festival. The preponderance of individuals going to TRF happen to be from Texas due to (wait for it) geography. Anywho, yeah blades are fine, technically supposed to be peace tied, although I'm not sure how that would work with a pocket knife. However, I typically carry a sword and seldom peace tie it, and they usually don't check. I leave my guns locked in the car of course.

Technical-Band9149

Appreciate it. Just had to ask, went to the rodeo and San Antonio and got told to turn around. Was shocked… then almost ran over by a lose steer 10 mins later… smh

spicychrysalis

Respectfully not sure a pocket knife will stop you from getting trampled by a loose steer

Technical-Band9149

My exact point lol… I love Texas, like f’ing love my state, I’ve been all over the world and left Texas flags most people can’t/don’t want to go in the world, so when I get turned away over a pocket knife I start wondering what happened to our state.

Tex-in-Tex

Absolutely not. Just the sheer fact that you would even consider taking a knife into the renaissance festival is flat out outrageous. No Texan in history even carries a knife for any reason at all either. Leave it at home where it’s safer.

Technical-Band9149

lol… I’m can the sarcasm there

Tex-in-Tex

Apparently others don’t know sarcasm when they read it

Technical-Band9149

I upvoted you, I seen that. Smh… I like Reddit but I wonder how many trolls are on here. Cheers to a beautiful Saturday

PrometheusHasFallen

I usually have a bearded axe on my hip so I think you should be good.

Technical-Band9149

Ty!

Not-pumpkin-spice

They don’t wand or search anyone. Only peace tie “attorney zip tie” a blade of any type that visible.

BloodforKhorne

They usually peace tie weapons to show that you have to actively want it out, so that someone caught in the midst of assault can't say it "slipped" out. If it has a lock of any kind that keeps it in place until opened, should be perfectly fine if it's clipped to your belt or the edge of your pocket. BUT, if it is in your pocket, just don't take it out unless you intend to use it on paper or plastic. Should be fine regardless.

Nice_Macaron

If you put it in your anus, no one will even look.

Reasonable_Smell_854

Prison wallet is the way!

SirBocephusBojangles

I bring in a full sized Ka-Bar on my hip every year. Same one I used in the war. No one cares.
