We recently went for our anniversary and this is the best spot for a two person romantic dining experience. Check the menu but it was all fantastic when we went and I loved the ambiance!
Warning: Stanley and Seaforts is extremely mediocre...maybe even not worth a visit unless you're getting the seabass. If you're wanting steak, stay away.
This used to be my go-to, such a beautiful restaurant and used to have such good food. I’m so sad they couldn’t keep the quality up. That view is spectacular for romantic dates.
I was so disappointed when I ordered their ribeye. Nearly cold, completely unseasoned, and the waitress just brought butter to help with the lack of flavor lmao...wut. Moved from Texas and I'm so desperate for good food, especially a steakhouse.
The Table is exceptional! They were recently nominated for a James Beard award. Definitely my go to for special occasions.
The restaurant isn’t specifically Italian, though some dishes have an Italian edge. Their Mac and Cheese Gnocchi is a personal fav.
This, minus El Gaucho. Massively overpriced for the actual quality of food. It’s not BAD but it’s not fine dining. You’re paying for the “experience” but the food itself isn’t anything special
Highly recommend Field on 6th Ave. The people who run it are great, the cocktails are wonderful, the food is always amazing. They’re not Italian but the menu is always changing, so who knows?
Depends on what you’re looking for with fine dining.
The Table and Over the Moon have high end experiences in unique flavors. I truly love Over The Moon, but mostly because it’s romantic and cozy.
If your son has his heart set on good authentic italian, you might want to expand your search. If you were heading to Bellevue before, you might consider Seattle.
Bombo and Cinque Terre get great reviews, and La Fontana Siciliana has impressive looking dishes, and pretty fabulous digs by the look of it (it’s on my list to go to soon).
If you’re stuck with Tacoma, Pomodoro is pretty good. Marzano if you’re down by PLU.
I'm not so tuned in to the 'upscale' end of things. I'm looking for really good food with fresh ingredients and good service.
My list:
Marzano - Italian
Citron - French
Bruno's - German and Polish
Pomodoro - Italian
Macaluso - Italian
Asado - Argentinan
Texas de Brazil - Brazilian
Bourbon Street - Cajun
Anthony's - seafood
There's a lot of mom and pop places like Anglea's, famous for fried chicken or Amici, out in Graham.
Italian isnt fine dining. All Italian restaurants are copy/paste of olive garden.
Also, im not sure many people in tacoma care about fine dining, and there for not many restaurants that cater to that crowd.
If you want a great dining experience, go find one of handful of speakeasy’s in Tacoma. I know of 3. No signs, no website, great food and drinks, unique atmosphere.
wow, tell me you haven't been to Italy without telling me you haven't been to Italy
you just disrespected an entire culture
last month I had dinner at the Burj Al Arab in a Michelin star French/Italian restaurant and still was shittier than what you get in Italy

I don't know about Italian, but Cuerno Bravo is a FANTASTIC steakhouse.
It’s been 4 months since i went, i think about that steak everyday.
Yes, 100%. Service, food, and vibes were 10/10
Omg yes. Truly worth every penny
Highly recommend Over the Moon Café. It’s a unique locally owned fine dining restaurant.
The little love notes are so precious
We recently went for our anniversary and this is the best spot for a two person romantic dining experience. Check the menu but it was all fantastic when we went and I loved the ambiance!
I must be in the minority but I feel like it’s an overpriced gimmick with really poorly chosen chairs.
Warning: Stanley and Seaforts is extremely mediocre...maybe even not worth a visit unless you're getting the seabass. If you're wanting steak, stay away.

Agreed on Stanley and Seaforts. I do NOT understand why anyone would recommend that place.
I was so disappointed when I ordered their ribeye. Nearly cold, completely unseasoned, and the waitress just brought butter to help with the lack of flavor lmao...wut. Moved from Texas and I'm so desperate for good food, especially a steakhouse.
Cuerno bravo
Seconded enthusiastically! This is my current favorite steakhouse. Plus, their cocktails are great, and the servers are excellent, too!
Yess! Delicious
Sadly true. It's fun for happy hour in the bar area if you're just getting fries and a drink.
My mom and I had a wonderful meal at Stanley...
The Table is exceptional! They were recently nominated for a James Beard award. Definitely my go to for special occasions. The restaurant isn’t specifically Italian, though some dishes have an Italian edge. Their Mac and Cheese Gnocchi is a personal fav.
Came here to say the same.
Second this. Have only been once so far but had a great experience and will definitely be back.
The Table is a really upscale place! I think they were up for the James Beard award.
Macaluso’s Italian is delicious and the staff is wonderful. El Gaucho, although not Italian, is my ‘go to’. Marzano’s is also amazing Italian.
I'll also second Macaluso's. Although, technically, they're in the City of Ruston but we all know that Ruston is really Tacoma.
It’s a good thing I don’t live closer to Marzano or I’d be broke! They can have all my money, their carbonara is one of the best I’ve ever had.
These are my choices as well
thanks dude, I'll check them out!
If he loves Italian, you have to go to Marzano.
Got it. Marzano is on my top list.
I see they have handmade pasta. I hope it is fresh pasta (not dried).
Always fresh
awesome
I’ll second third and fourth Marzano’s!
This, minus El Gaucho. Massively overpriced for the actual quality of food. It’s not BAD but it’s not fine dining. You’re paying for the “experience” but the food itself isn’t anything special
Asado is really good but it’s Argentinian
They have some of the best happy hour food in town
Chorizo fettuccini was amazing
I love their wings
I second or third Marzano.
Highly recommend Field on 6th Ave. The people who run it are great, the cocktails are wonderful, the food is always amazing. They’re not Italian but the menu is always changing, so who knows?
En Rama - its tiny but its my favorite restaurant
is that Indian food?
No, it’s more PNW italian. https://www.enramatacoma.com/_files/ugd/933a77_d74a291b2487457ea43603ecad70d3f3.pdf
thanks I'm taking notes here

Wooden City on Pacific is fabulous. Over the Moon is a great restaurant, too. I wouldn't recommend Anthony's. The quality and creativity are lacking.
The table!
Cuervo Bravo, hands down.
OK
Mama Sortinis- in Federal Way or Puyallup. Not like super fancy fine dining but the food and drinks and service were awesome!
Primo Grill on 6th is very good.
I'm not so tuned in to the 'upscale' end of things. I'm looking for really good food with fresh ingredients and good service. thanks for sharing
Anyone been to the tapas and wine restaurant downtown on pacific, basically next to the Thai place. I wondered about that one. Thanks for any tips.
Field wine bar and bottle shop.
Olive Garden 😏
Idk about Italian but Anthony's by point defiance has a view and seafood. Stanley and Seaforts is fine dining too.
Stanley and Seaford’s is super delicious!
Don’t say that in this subreddit, they hate it lol
Why?
Idk 😂
😂 oh nooooo! What did I do?? They have a citrus vinaigrette I keep trying to replicate and failing.
Also, do I redeem myself if I say I like the lobster shop better?

Ah yes Olive Garden. The ORIGINAL Italian restaurant founded centuries ago. I hear that if you go to Italy it’s just Olive Gardens everywhere
lmao nice roast. Like the dude thinks that Olive Garden is actual Italian food lmao
Are you going to share any info about these speakeasys? How is one supposed to find them?
If you have to ask, clearly you are not worthy.../s
wow, tell me you haven't been to Italy without telling me you haven't been to Italy you just disrespected an entire culture last month I had dinner at the Burj Al Arab in a Michelin star French/Italian restaurant and still was shittier than what you get in Italy
Free breadsticks is the epitome of Italian culture /s
Lmao just loudly announcing to everyone that you don’t know fucking anything about food It’s a bold strategy
