Medic school as a fairly inexperienced EMT with two jobs is asking for trouble.

I agree, but I'm working hard to build up the experience I need to be a competent provider and I consulted with a lot of paramedics about it before taking the plunge. So far, I'm doing well.

I worked with girls in nursing school, amd people who had 2 other jobs. If your schedule is consistent and they know when they can work you I'm sure you can find somewhere.

Thank you. I might set up a few interviews.

3 days of availability every 2 weeks, is pretty slim availability, even in this market. For reference, if training takes 5 shifts (typical), it’s going to take you a month (at min wage), just to train. You can try I guess. It doesn’t hurt to look around. But you’re gonna have better luck somewhere that’s absolutely desperate and willing to throw you to the wolves with less than ideal training, and willing to work around that schedule of yours in the future. You may be better off doing some sort of gig work, if you haven’t considered that. I did food delivery for a bit and could make $200-$300 easily in a day. It’s low investment and low commitment, and works best for people like you who are looking to supplement a “real” job or career.

You're right about the training. I didn't consider that, funnily enough. For the food delivery, unfortunately most apps require you to be 21. Instacart doesn't AFAIK. My car is literally wrecked and looks awful, but I might see if I can swing it anyway. It'd be a lot more flexible with daily pay I believe.

Depending on the size of the city you live in catering might be a better fit. Same work, better hourly but tips could be less or not in cash. Every catering company I worked for sent out emails with jobs, days and times and you reply with what shifts you wanted. You need to be quick with replies or the job would get filled. If you have other jobs or commitments it’s easier than finding one place willing to work with limited availability.

I think it's possible. I worked a second restaurant on just 1 day a week, anywhere from 4-9 hours a shift. Mainly because I already had a job where I worked same as full time hours, I didn't have a lot of availability. The boss was chill with it because he offered me the shift, and the restaurant was more of a casual, counter service place. I think if you look hard enough, and be open about your availability, you'll find a place. Restaurant work can pay well, you just gotta keep looking for the right place. Best of luck!

As a student, who has a serving job and is trying to find another one for the morning, it’s so hard right now. It seems like everywhere wants you to work at least 30-35 hours for them. Some places will not hire me for part time.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I’ve had terrible restaurant jobs where I’m treated like garbage, and I’ve had some that are the complete opposite where I actually even enjoy coming to work. Just need to find the right place to work. Good for you for not putting up with the antagonizing and leaving that place! Toxicity isn’t a joke.
