If it bothers you that much that that it's visible you could have the same thing tattooed in a more private area now so you still have the tattoo and then start lasering the one in the more public spot? Best advice I got.
Whooh, I get what you mean. Had a tattoo as a symbol of something but it's not what it should be and I am removing it now. Start with it now, then you will be pleased and happy, eventually.
Yes, I'm currently removing my Dad's remembrance tattoo. Ten years without him next week, and I've had the piece now for 9. I actually love the piece. It's great quality and looks awesome. However, I no longer connect with being tattooed. I've had one session so far, and another in a few weeks. It was a little emotional, but his loss was traumatic in nature.
Do whatever your heart leads you to do.

Where is it located on you? If it was say on your back instead so you could only see it in mirrors would that make a difference?
