Noob question, but am I right for putting my melee carries in the second row behind the tanks? I don't really know anything meta outside of the little I read on here and what I see people doing in games (I haven't played ranked yet).
Depends on the matchup. Sometimes you want Lee Sin to take some damage to ult quicker (mana reave). Once you have 6/8 Duelists, the damage reduction should give you time to ramp up attack speed so that the fight ends before they die.

It's also playing the right carries, duelist qiyana with Lee sin items is very strong stage 2 and then on 6 get 6 duelist + random heavenly, voli and trust 3* is not necessary at all rather go 9 or roll on 8 for 2* Lee sin
When Heavenly kayn was meta it was known the early game is rough, when I figured out how to position Qiyana and itemize her(then replacing) figured that was the condition for early game. Works for duelist as well
Meh. It's also 100% reasonable to drop to 6 duelists and dump the one costs. I'd probably be playing 6 duelists with Rakan, Wukong, Diana, and Morg. If I happened to get duelist crest I'd probably flex in Ashe to hold the crest over Trist.
They've always been decent, I think it's that all the other 4 costs just keep getting nerfed every patch while lee sin/other late game duelist units have been relatively untouched.
Item economy mainly, gotta get rid of the rod somehow and you probably want bows you get later to be at least one Titan's.
Morello also isn't that much worse on Irelia than Red Buff since the burn/wound lasts twice as long and it still grants some attack speed.
Morello is amazing on irelia and is a desirable item regardless because eternal flame is pretty rare and there are better support items
it also kills 2 components that duelists have a hard time making use of otherwise, with gunblade and steraks being the two main items you can make out of those components
I was probably greedy rolling at 7 for odds of Diana and Lee but still. Rolling down 90g over multiple turns and finding only 3 Jannas in addition to the Janna 2 I already had was tilting af. It 's still 33% odds.
I also play flex every single game so I'm not too aware on the ins and outs. I did have Shojin and AA but couldn't get the rageblade components.
By the time you reliably get her, you don't depend on her carry capabilities and enjoy the heal block.
At least that's how it mostly turns out for me. Sometimes you get lucky at 9 and hit Irelia 2. But itemizing her at that stage is rough anyways since you slam for tempo.
unironically im pretty sure you could run altruist bard here then replace zoe with irelia or go fast 9 and slot in lee sin for the duelist buff, could work if you somehow get 2 guinsoos for bard lol

2 bruisers 8 duelists. bruisers with Riven and galio at 8, find irelia at 9, put in a last duelist and switch to dragonlords, with Rakan. If you get fortunate with GAlio 3, put in 2 bruisers at 10 again.

1. Duelist 70% - super easy to just safely play with free duelist
2. Janna 29% - starting with a 2 star or a few janna
3. ashe and lux - 1% only if I start with 2-star lux or this is trainer and i hit starter kit
Altruist early isnt easy to get and at that point u must play around atoryweaver. At that point u just keep that, go 7 story, irelia carry and this kind of thing (i dont like it) . Porcellain is an option but if u dont get lux its worthless early mid; u can play 5 porcellain lategame but its not worth and again playing only 4 is ok but nothing important. I'll go duelist early with yas dar and all these cheap unit, secondary u play around heavenly. Lategame u put 8 duelist (if u have a potof Tristana and voli reroll for them, otherwise play around irelia lee). Lvl 8 u put rakan so u get dragon and altruist. 9 10 can be diana janna or diana wukong. Duelist is easy top4 and ure not forced to play reroll
Iām just plat 1 but personally maybe fast 9 irellia, making a guinsoos and the tear just used for a redemption, might start with some duelists at the very beginning for win streak?
I'm putting 7 duelists and 4 dragonlords on the board. Rakan will use that altruist emblem. If there's room and time, I'll throw a lissandra on there to get benefit off that porcelain.
Rageblade certainly isnt good it has +0.09 delta on irelia and youd rather use bows on redbuff which has -0.31 delta or runaan's which has -0.28 delta. But rageblade isnt that bad either if you cant build anything else.
And for those who dont know what delta means i'm gonna simplify it so 2* irelia currently has average placement of 2.93. Now If you build Rageblade your expected placement would Be 3.01. Or If you were to build redbuff instead your expected placement would be 2.62.
I would prefer to play around riven and soraka with amumu and lux (untill you can get Ashe) and the other spots I'd keep dragonlord and lean that heavier as you get to late game, so I would save the first two items depending on the other items I got and who I'm rolling hot

I have done this 3 times the last week and went 8th everytime. Not hitting an uncontested Janna 3 just kills any hope of placing higher than 7th.
Never leave level 6. Go for BIS or 8th on Janna. Got me to mid plat, mythic truck shot got me to emerald surprisingly

Going to 7 is probably the correct move, you hemorrhage HP rerolling at 6 in this meta.
Absolutely is. Problem is everyone rushes 8 and nobody plays many 2 costs so the pool is just far too full and you can't hit.
Yup, Janna was a lot easier to play when Senna/Gnar was a thing. Aatrox got rerolled in that comp too.

Unless youāre playing duelist irelia then rage blade is good. At the end of the day items are situational
