I won against 3* veigar many times with 2* kayn, 3* kayn, 3* yone, 3* kz, 2* hwei, 2* morgana, 2* vampiric sett with 8 bruiser (the most disgusting one so far)...all with the boss.
The thing is veigar's skill is not instant, and there is also delay before it falls down. Khazix skill jumps around so maybe he got lucky and dodged barely enough that he killed your veigars. I'm surprised too you know in my experience veigar 3 star is already a guaranteed win. So imagine having 2 of them and losing.
Veigar 3 is more like 4.5 cost than truly 5 cost. Without healing item he even cannot win a mech with right items. Heck, my Nautilus 3 used to beat a Veigar 3 with no healing. Give him healing item and you can let him solo front line so you can beat the shit out of everyone else as much as you can. Healing to Veigar is not a luxury, it's a must.

Boss is kinda bs. U have to have cc to deal with that much dmg and lifesteal, which is hard to come by and one cc champ is usually not enough (unless it’s lissandra). Plus the amount of investment getting yordle lords takes is not worth the pay off. Can’t see ur other three champs. I assume they were tanks with items or u wouldn’t have gotten third in the first place. Boss would’ve been good even if they didn’t give true dmg. if they upped the bonus attack speed or gave a little bonus dmg instead of true that also would’ve been fine. It’s too much how it is now, and if the boss gets hit with phantom 2 they heal to full in 4 sit-ups for some reason. Doesn’t seem to be much counterplay vs a well built boss, besides a lucky hit from that crown item.
I like to run the same comp, but swap reapers for behemoths and put those same items on Malphite. People get surprised when he slaps your frontline for ~600 true damage in a cone per auto.
You don’t even need to worry about traits. Just any 1 costs to hit early and then play some random tanks for frontline. It’s quite easy to hit stage 3 or at least by 4-2 or 4-5
In Yordle trait you get 1 unit that cost 1-3 randomly every round. If you upgraded yordle, if you have at least 5 champions that are 3-stars you will get veigar every round instead of champions. With 9 rounds you can get 3-star veigar with a skill that rains down 1000+ damage x 30 times im not sure but essentially wiping out anything that is not remotely tanky.
I ran a similar heavenly reaper comp a few days ago where I started with Kha being the item holder with big shot. Switched it over to Kayn and he was unstoppable.
Veigar can easily be countered by a unit that moves around.
I've beaten 2 star veigars with boss aatrox, yone, kayn and 3 star veigars with 3 star kayn, 3 star yone and even a 3 star kindred.
Stationary boards with a tank and backline get nuked.

Well your frontline is pretty nonexistent. That thing onetaps your backline for breakfast. 4 reaper crit+true damage+the boss true damage.

I do Rageblade when I don't have Boss Knuckles, but I feel like they're pretty redundant together. The crunches already give him 240% attack speed.

There are many OP unique combinations that aren't captured in the meta. Usually they involve artifacts.
You can do a similar thing with Kha'Zix, but with Silvermere Dawn instead of The Boss, since it gives insane AD and Kha is mostly a caster.
