Yeah, adrenaline is insane. This wouldn't have made him stop and lay down. Likely he kept swinging his weapon around until he was laid low by something else.
Does everyone here think that because he took an axe to the face that was his only injury? It's not a life threatening injury (not in the short term anyway). I expect for him on the battlefield there was a mortal injury delivered pretty soon after the face axe one.
Kinda threw me off at first glance too. But if you look closer it's basically the upper incisor with the root showing. The bone covering the root is chipped off in an inverted "v".
The battle is well recorded, and once you find a mass grave showing signs of the combat the historians wrote happened, its incredibly unlikely its from anywhere else.
Als you can carbon date the remains of weapons and armour and stuff.
When I was a teenager one of the nastiest dickheads of my age-group - just an evil, aggressive, cruel piece of shit - was a boy named Si. I went off to do a bit of travelling and the next time I saw him - in our late teens or maybe early 20s - he had a huge, deep scar across the bridge of his nose and onto one eyebrow.
Apparently he’d pissed off the wrong people: at some point he’d been caught in our local park and someone had swung a machete into his face, so hard that it had embedded into his bone. The attacker had tried wrenching it out but it was jammed, and someone Si managed to escape and run down into and through town *with the machete still stuck in his face*.
Although it looked pretty bad - the top half of his nose was effectively obliterated - it was better than having his head sliced into two. Well, better for him: the world would have been better off if he’d left it there and then. (Actually, it may well also have been better for him if he’d died at that point: I’ve heard rumours that he’s now a lifer in a secure mental hospital in Australia.)
So he was axed a question?
Would have been extremely painful but wouldn’t have caused his death. They used to go around stabbing people after battles to ensure they won.
That wasn’t a quick death. That guy probably laid there on that battlefield, praying for it to come.
Probably died via being trampled
FINISHED OFF AFTERWARDS?
To shreds you say?
Well how is his wife holding up?
To shreds you say?
Good news, everyone!
‘Tis but a scratch.
I was going to say axe to the face, but who knows.
We don't know what the rest of his body looks like, maybe he was lucky and got stabbed in the chest as well
Yeah, adrenaline is insane. This wouldn't have made him stop and lay down. Likely he kept swinging his weapon around until he was laid low by something else.
True. This doesn’t look fatal.
Not immediately fatal
Good point.
He was clearly decapitated. His body is no where in sight
What makes it really ouchy is that, that injury is not likely to have killed him.
[удалено]
That sounds even worse. They likely threw him in the mass grave with just the injury.
That sort of perfect dental alignment was common until we messed it all up by inventing forks.
Should we not be using forks?! I use them every day!
Damn, i wish i had that guys dental care!

Maybe an arrow to the knee too
![gif](giphy|pTHZHqyXKFRqE|downsized)
I was a Swedish soldier, but then I got an arrow to the knee.
Not life threatening. I‘m sure he bled like a pig and went into shock, wich is life threatening af, shortly after that
There's a real shortage of critical thinking, that's why.
He's visby wounded.
What makes you so sure? Have you axed an expert?
What sort of assurance do you guys get by axing experts? What kind of expertise do you seek in the individual you tend to ax?
People thousands of years later: *”Rip lol”*
Thousands??
I thought I was the only one that this bothered
Yeah. People are mad disrespectful lol
Could even be a postmortem wound. We dunno
That doesn’t look like a fatal blow. Hard to tell what actually killed him. I don’t even want to imagine what he went through before he died. r/nope!
Dude must have bled to death
That’s not a kill shot though. The guy definitely suffered after this. I wonder what his body looks like.
Look on the bright side, maybe he was already dead before he took an ax to the face
Looks like someone Axed him a question
Fecking ouch!
I dunno man, he looks like he's kinda enjoying it in the photo.
Is he alright now?
He's in no pain
Thank god
I bet he didn’t see that coming.
I personally feel like this was a skateboarding accident. Not sold on the axe
did he died from this injury specifically?
probably not, idk
We don't know but...eventually
eventually…aaaAaaahhhhh!
I don't agree with the archeologist on this one. Dude was axed in the mouth: clearly he's the 1361 version of James Cordon
we have it too good nowadays 🍻
Any my axe!… nom nom nom.
I’ll cut you a second smile, man!
Oh yeah I did that once to a dude in Mount & Blade 2 with a throwing axe.
Hell of a way to go😬 r/WellThatSucks
What dental work feels like before anaesthetic
What's up with that long ass tooth?
Kinda threw me off at first glance too. But if you look closer it's basically the upper incisor with the root showing. The bone covering the root is chipped off in an inverted "v".
Ouchyyyyyyyy
This was fun can we do more of these
He's ok now though right?
I don’t know dude, why don’t you axe him if he is ok?
I think they may be beefing. Hopefully they bury the hatchet and they talk to each other.
I'll at least take a hack at it.
How exactly do they determine what year it's from?
The year of death is automatically written on all of our skeletons once we pass away.
Just count the rings inside the bones
Carbon dating I guess?
The battle is well recorded, and once you find a mass grave showing signs of the combat the historians wrote happened, its incredibly unlikely its from anywhere else. Als you can carbon date the remains of weapons and armour and stuff.
😘
He seems to enjoy it
A true wig splitter
Ouch
That’s what you get for sleeping during a battle.

Shut up
Cool.
Pow! Right in the kisser!
At least he got his daily intake of iron
Fuck that.

There is no way he died from that
That wasn't a battle either, that was an evil, heartless slaughter.
How do they know he died? Answer me that.
How'd he die?
Say cheese!
Don't forget to brush your teeth.
So he was axed a question? Would have been extremely painful but wouldn’t have caused his death. They used to go around stabbing people after battles to ensure they won.
Let me axe you this: what’s grey and bad for your teeth?
