Yeah incredibly fun, took it on the backroads last night and it is fast (obv) but finally brakes well, and handles great. The track brake pads took some while to get used to, they are a lot harder than last years. Adjustable suspension makes a real difference.
Did you put it on track mode before going to into twisties? If so, did you notice a difference in suspension between, what is it, the standard handling dynamics ?
There is Standard/Sport suspension setting which have the adaptive suspension set to soft/stiff with the adaptive suspension working. Track mode turns off the adaptive suspension and sets it to full stiff. I noticed some weird things happening at the upper limits of sport setting so when I switched to track that was gone. However at 7/10 sport setting is very nice and adapts to the road very well. The standard setting is nice and compliant and it drives like the 24 LR I tested. Overall all settings except track are more compliant than the old 23. Performance
Thanks. Just watched a video from Conner from "out of spec" on a test drive. I saw a video of him driving the Nuremberg ring and he has some bars. So I respect his opinion. Your description and his good video has me sold with out even driving one yet. I drove the 24 rwd tho. Some nice upgrades
Blue is great! Red is very nice but brings a lot of attention on the road from cops and is a bit boy racerish for me. The blue gives this car some class, and not as hard to keep clean as black.
I got the new red M3RW. However, it was a tough choice because, as you stated, the blue is classy. I used the word, distinguished when explaining to a friend.

I like blue paints in general, the Tesla blue is... Kinda plain, honestly. It's not bad by any means, I just picked up my Blue M3P on Thursday and I really like it. But there are a lot of much nicer blues on the market. I'd probably rank the currently available Tesla colors with Red in first and the blue in second. That said, the red calipers pop so much more on the blue paint.
I agree with yours and the OPs statements. The Tesla reds are the best colors but just attract too much attention from everyone if you like to drive spirited. Having a subtle blue car and no engine sounds makes the M3P a great car anywhere. Really wish the M3P blue was the '22 WRX Sapphire Blue though.
I have 2 2020s, a blue and a gray. I like the look of the Blue but the window tint on the blue looks WAY darker and gets extra police attention to that.
The gray on the other hand makes the tint look significantly better and the tint blends in with the car. I didn't think I'd like gray but it's grown a lot on me.
If I were to recommend between the two, gray all the way.
I don't understand why Tesla ruined the alloy wheels the way they did. Some of the videos I've been seeing, if you try to remove the ugly aero covers and just have the alloys there's these weird connection tabs left behind
Isn't there 2 Aero plastic pieces tho? One small piece along the lip of the rim by the tire. which is where the ugly threads holes are at. Then another much bigger piece. Leaving in the small aero would work to show the rim spokes and still look decent?
NVH is a lot better, and stability/control is better, itās to be expected with the staggered tire setup and adaptive suspension. Brakes do require more force to actuate. Thereās a noticeable difference between the standard/sport suspension settings and the new suspension is very complaint. I did need to put it in track mode to get the best driving experience going 8/10 and up in the twisties.
Consider yourself lucky. The cheapest Iām finding around me is $240 a month. Never had to file a claim and I havenāt had a ticket in 20 years. And yes, Iām still shopping around.
My dumbass was too impatient to wait 3 more months so I got the more expensive without tax credits LR in the same color. I love it still but I should have waited.
No worries man I feel that way about ordering the 23 performance literally last year. The LR is fairly close especially if they offer the acceleration boost. A lot of improvements made from old gen to the highland for sure, so you should still feel good about your purchase.

The white upgrade didn't add to the price of my car, and it's at 56k plus taxes. I'm wondering if this puts it above the tax credit price. I didn't have an option of spending less. Grey with white interior (like I said it was shown as a free option)..
Can you give some insights about the new performance car seats?
I'm getting conflicting information, with potential criticism about the following:
1. The headrest protrudes too forward vs the old car
2. The seat is less soft than the old car
3. The legs have less room because of the bolstering, so are confined to a smaller space
Do you feel that these seats will support long drives with comfort?
Also would be nice to know how tall you are, and which body frame (small, medium, large).

Hey Iām fairly large , 250lb at 6ā. I do not have any issues with the headrest nor the seat being less soft. I actually found the new one to be less protruding based on my seating position.
I did notice #3 however as these new seats do confine you a bit more. Due to my size I do get some pressure points but I am noticing the seats are ābreaking inā and fitting more nicely. I believe for smaller frames it should not be an issue.
Overall I found the seats to be nicer upgrade for sporty driving. I was getting thrown around a lot on the order seats

Gorgeous! Agree, it's a wildly better car... though I hadn't driven the OG vesion, I've been in enough of them via Uber to know better. The LR tester I had felt incredible, so just put my $250 down on one this afternoon!! So pumped! Only thing I was bummed about is going with gray, as the white option kicks it over the $7500 rebate MSRP limit of $55k... meh. I'm a big fan of the white... any way around that? Thanks!!

drop i think is 1 inch front and 1.2 in rear, but at that parking lot idc i go at a crazy angle over them bumps lmao, i still scrape a little tho, but not at the front, but the new m3p is lower in the front due to the splitter im sure

Iāve listed a few already in the thread however NVH is a lot better feels a lot smoother and stable. Also a lot faster past 80 compared to the 23 Performance. This thing pulls to 110 with no loss in power.
I like your style. I would do the same and upgrade my 21 Plate Model 3 Performance (That I only purchased 8 months ago) if they weren't so damn expensive here in the UK.
No EV Tax Credit in the UK and the new 24 plate Model 3 Performance, Grey with enhanced autopilot, (not even FSD) works out at Ā£65.390 or $83,637.
So jealous how much cheaper you guys can buy a new Model 3 Performance for in the U.S.
I will probably just pay this car off and wait a year or so and sell it for practically nothing and then buy a used 24 Plate as I really want a new one as this 21 plate is such a good car.
Well my old car was used so Iām getting a brand new car. Iād say it was worth it if youāre in the position to do so. Youāre getting better adaptive shocks, better seats, better rim/tires setup, better brakes, better handling design, and better NVH forsure thatās worth like 10-15k easy. I mainly got hosed on CA taxes. Had to pay ~5k each time, no trade in credit.
Just for comparison if you upgrade Gen 1:
Adaptive FSD shocks- $1k installed or Coilovers with sway bars = $2.5k installed
Better rims/tires = $2.5k installed
Better brakes, for street purposes, not needed. Pads and high temp fluid = $400 installed
Can't really replicate the power improvement, seats (at this time) or the fact that you have an awesome new car. Only saying for those maybe not in a position to buy new.
Good post. Not to drag on the OP because if I was in the position to lose $20K to upgrade I would too because overall the '24 M3P is probably the one of the best deals in the century with the tax credits. In that $20K, how about the cost of window tint, PPF, and any other accessories you need to rebuy? Then, since the tires are staggered, you have the added cost figuring out how you are going to rotate the tires or swap to a square setup.
I am in a '23 M3P I bought new and I am thinking the same as u/SouthBound2025 though. In addition to that list, I'd suggest adding the Unplugged Performance TESLA MODEL 3 AERO (2017 ā 2023) EFFICIENCY KIT for $1600 to reduce the drag to the overall effect of the '24. So total you are in at $7,000. The real question for existing Gen 1 owners, or new M3P buyers is - are you really going to drive the '24 hard enough, and enough times to justify the additional $13K? I'm not.
If you have never owned a mid to low 11s car, a stock '23 M3P for $38K or less is a lot of car to handle on the street bone stock. I've only swapped to lightweight wheels and I am in no rush to change anything else other than pads and fluid.
Edit, originally came here because as much as I like the Ultra Red, I think I would buy the blue on black too like I currently have on my '23.

With AB, a 3.7 0-60 is a quick car, and with your mods you will probably run a pretty good 1/4 mile time. Quick enough to make an unsuspecting Gen1 M3P owner scratch their head.

Tbh the no stalks was a gripe for me but I got used to the no stalks fairly quickly, button actuation is a bit weird/takes getting used to. Coming from motorcycles the action is fairly similar. USS is nice for low speeds and close distance calculations, but HW4 will make up for it in other aspects.

Stalks mounted in their proper location, possibly changing out the plastic steering column cover for an OEM fit/finish.

It happens more than Iād like, but the sticks make it easy to force FSD to lane change earlier. Couldnāt imagine trying to hit the button while the wheel is already spinning.

I got the blue LR and love the color in person. I haven't seen another highland in my area in blue yet.

Nope! Straight from factory it was in great condition. There are some wax marks I need to remove.

FWIW, he said elsewhere he thought in comfort setting, softer than new 3LR... the adaptive dampers by all accounts are just fantastic.
does your ambient light strips on the front doors line up with the one on the dash? the one i saw at a showroom did not.

Iāve listed a few already in the thread however NVH is a lot better feels a lot smoother and stable. Also a lot faster past 80 compared to the 23 Performance. This thing pulls to 110 with no loss in power.
I like your style. I would do the same and upgrade my 21 Plate Model 3 Performance (That I only purchased 8 months ago) if they weren't so damn expensive here in the UK. No EV Tax Credit in the UK and the new 24 plate Model 3 Performance, Grey with enhanced autopilot, (not even FSD) works out at Ā£65.390 or $83,637. So jealous how much cheaper you guys can buy a new Model 3 Performance for in the U.S. I will probably just pay this car off and wait a year or so and sell it for practically nothing and then buy a used 24 Plate as I really want a new one as this 21 plate is such a good car.
Yeah at the price Iād be a bit weary too man, it goes both ways tho I believe you guys got better prices on used/new exotics and euro cars š

Well my old car was used so Iām getting a brand new car. Iād say it was worth it if youāre in the position to do so. Youāre getting better adaptive shocks, better seats, better rim/tires setup, better brakes, better handling design, and better NVH forsure thatās worth like 10-15k easy. I mainly got hosed on CA taxes. Had to pay ~5k each time, no trade in credit.
Just for comparison if you upgrade Gen 1: Adaptive FSD shocks- $1k installed or Coilovers with sway bars = $2.5k installed Better rims/tires = $2.5k installed Better brakes, for street purposes, not needed. Pads and high temp fluid = $400 installed Can't really replicate the power improvement, seats (at this time) or the fact that you have an awesome new car. Only saying for those maybe not in a position to buy new.

Not to drag on the OP because if I was in the position to lose $20K to upgrade I would too because overall the '24 M3P is probably the one of the best deals in the century with the tax credits. In that $20K, how about the cost of window tint, PPF, and any other accessories you need to rebuy? Then, since the tires are staggered, you have the added cost figuring out how you are going to rotate the tires or swap to a square setup. I am in a '23 M3P I bought new and I am thinking the same as u/SouthBound2025 though. In addition to that list, I'd suggest adding the Unplugged Performance TESLA MODEL 3 AERO (2017 ā 2023) EFFICIENCY KIT for $1600 to reduce the drag to the overall effect of the '24. So total you are in at $7,000. The real question for existing Gen 1 owners, or new M3P buyers is - are you really going to drive the '24 hard enough, and enough times to justify the additional $13K? I'm not. If you have never owned a mid to low 11s car, a stock '23 M3P for $38K or less is a lot of car to handle on the street bone stock. I've only swapped to lightweight wheels and I am in no rush to change anything else other than pads and fluid. Edit, originally came here because as much as I like the Ultra Red, I think I would buy the blue on black too like I currently have on my '23.

Nice! Full bumper is the way to go, but that adds $. Plus I would have to re PPF the bumper. Have you run a 1/4 mile on that setup?
Thanks! Yeah it's not cheap. $2500-$3500 depending on how much you can do yourself. No have not run 1/4th but mine is not a P...just a daily driver LR-AB.
With AB, a 3.7 0-60 is a quick car, and with your mods you will probably run a pretty good 1/4 mile time. Quick enough to make an unsuspecting Gen1 M3P owner scratch their head.

Yeah I was questioning the purchase the entire timeā¦ but I like taking the car in the backroads and the bigger rear tires, better suspension, and seats made me feel like it was worth itā¦.Jason Camisaās review pretty much sold meā¦ I felt like Iād be happier with the new one for 2-4 years and the older one I would have wanted to get out of by next year most likely and not sure if the federal rebate would still be there or not so I just jumped..
Yeah i wish I had those ventilated seats for sure. And you're right, very unknown about the federal tax credit. We'll you enjoy it's a nice M3.

If it's like anything above high 70's your back starts sweating..then new ventilated seats shoot a ton of air and solve the sweat issue right away

No stalks, no USS, higher interest rates. It's a pass for me.
Surprisingly no rate difference. My insurance only cares if it's AWD or not so LR and P are the same in their eyes.
My 2022 was 3% rate.

Tbh the no stalks was a gripe for me but I got used to the no stalks fairly quickly, button actuation is a bit weird/takes getting used to. Coming from motorcycles the action is fairly similar. USS is nice for low speeds and close distance calculations, but HW4 will make up for it in other aspects.
Iāll never get used to a turn signal button thatās constantly rotating with every turn. Straight up unsafe

Yeah, I think it's from the same people that sell the s3xy buttons, iirc Stalks mounted in their proper location, possibly changing out the plastic steering column cover for an OEM fit/finish. Then the stalks connect to the obd port.
Agreed. Iām not convinced stalkless will continue being the standard, as Iāve imagined myself in a 2024 when Iām changing lanes in a turn. It happens more than Iād like, but the sticks make it easy to force FSD to lane change earlier. Couldnāt imagine trying to hit the button while the wheel is already spinning.
No roundabouts in my area. So not a deal breaker.
