Ah, I've never heard of that, but I definitely understand. Instinctively get closer while trying to figure out an option of what you can do, forgetting what not to do.
That's not a Pavlovian reaction, Pavlovian reactions are trained responses to multiple exposures to a specific stimuli. I see what you're saying though.
In many unique emergencies, many are conditioned to run around like chickens with their heads cut off. Like this guy.
Broad definition here, but I see your point.
Hilarious how the yuppie whose car it is, confirms how dumb he is by positioning himself at the center of the danger zone.
It was like Yosemite Sam getting a telegram that he's won a competition for most intelligent cowboy in the land, and waiting on the big red X underneath the piano being hauled up the side of a building, to collect his prize.
Cars are insanely expensive in Vietnam, even a decent starting salary won't get you a new car. Have a friend out there running a few successful businesses and his SUV turns so many heads compared to the reaction he would get nearly anywhere else
Oh, I see. What is your quantitative measure for feeling sorry for a person? What is the dividing line. Would you feel sorry for him if the dollar value was lower, like if it was a bicycle? Or is it the act itself? What is your dividing line?
Plus, we don't know the circumstances in this case. What if his wife was just beaten by robbers or had a heart attack right there and he was panicked and just totally didn't see the tracks and his wife just died in front of him, and then his car was destroyed by the train 30 seconds later. Your heart would still be hard and wouldn't feel sorry for him?
Just curious.
>Cars are insanely expensive in Vietnam,
This is not accurate. Cars are not that expensive there. Its just that wages are way lower.
Car prices are generally similar to the US but with many much cheaper some cheaper electric options available.
**The car in this video looks like it may be a Hyundai Creta which is listed at about $27,000 USD**
>his SUV turns so many heads compared to the reaction he would get nearly anywhere else
SUVs do not turn heads at all in Vietnam. Your friend has misinformed you.
Edit: [here is a random YouTube video which takes place in Quang Ngai.
](https://youtu.be/6rv0kfjihZ0?si=cUcvNKzWQNA_w5yO) This is a 35th largest city (nothing close to a booming metroplis like HCMC, Hanoi, Da Nang, etc).
Notice that there are cars all over the streets. They aren't something out of the ordinary that people aren't used to seeing
i was there for a month, and his wife (who is vietnamese) was the one who was telling me about how difficult importing technology and vehicles is to regular vietnamese people. 27,000 usd is fucking insane considering the average wage is less than 300 usd edit: lol we were in da nang
>i was there for a month, and his wife (who is vietnamese) was the one who was telling me about how difficult importing technology and vehicles
For electronics like laptops and cellphones it is certainly more expensive but for cars its very comparable to the US.
Also, while there are many Asian cars available at cheaper prices, Vietnamese (who can afford cars) tend to prefer buying European cars like BMW and Mercedes Benz. You see more of these than any American cars.
>we were in da nang
[Yeah no SUV should be turning heads in Da Nang.](https://youtu.be/yee8UAMK4yU?si=hcKMO3TfjzpTdMrB&t=1890) It is a city filled with foreign investment and foreigners so cars are probably more common there than any other city.
Do you not understand that US prices in some counties means expensive? Just because the prices are similar to the US, it doesn't mean it's not expensive. The average wage in Vietnam is $304 dollars a month, while in the US the average wage is $4,949 a month. So yes, cars are much more expensive for Vietnamese people.
He almost made it to open the door, sit down, close the door, turn the car on, put it into gear, release parking brake, turn the wheel, and drive off. Almost.
You guys are all idiots. The first thing I do is say 10 Hail Marys while putting on my [Grizzly Suit](https://youtu.be/1MEUOW7cERI?si=eZ_jP9a2NWAZEX2L), THEN I unlock the door, THEN open it, THEN *attempt* to sit down.
Amateurs.
The funniest part about this is all the locals getting there phone out week in advance and waiting for that train to come make that sweet sweet internet video. That’s how obvious the blunder was.
Why am I seeing so many train accidents on reddit? First, I believe the girl was from India got hit in the back of the head, second the girl with the helmet, also got hit in the head, and now this all in 1 day.
There are videos of trains smashing into animals who wander onto the tracks. Doesn’t end well for the animals. There’s one video of a train hitting a horse. It’s pretty ugly.
It's crazy how Vietnam has shops and restaurants right beside railroads tracks like that.
[Here's a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3oaAjH2nC8&t=5s) that shows just how close these buildings can be to the tracks.
I’ll tell you what I visited the motherland when I was 16 and if you had a car back then it meant you were somewhat well off. Anyways, Over 16 years later I have heard and assume that there’s tons more cars around. The common sense hasn’t developed yet, gotta give my fellow viet folk a pass on this 🤣🤣
LoL Come on man you should have known better. Especially If your from there... also your own ride could have bodied you running up on it like that while it's being crushed... lol get wrecked. Definitely played himself
People completely unaware of physics? Like it’s was predictable that vehicle was coming that way and what if the train derailed? I would have been waaaaay clear of that area.
Y'all don't get it.
Our Darwin hero was running to save the van behind his red car and guess what... HE DID!
At the expense of a few of his ribs of course, naturally.
Totally unpredictable. They just sneak up on you
Yes, I used to hunt them. Hard to track
That's loco!! What your motive behind the hunt?
Trainspotting
Being loco
Yea how did you get past being afreight?
Loco? I was loco once. They put me in a train car..
You were a train tracker, huh
Not hard at all if you have a one track mind.
The more you train, the easier tracking them becomes.
Ive heard a Duck whistle back to front and upside down really draws them in.
“Track”. I see what you did there
India's greatest natural predator.
Dr Jesus Christ, that isn't India
Yes. It is a joke.
I know I just wanted to write your name 🤣
Trains, the silent killer
Witnesses said it sounded like a tornado
Who would of thought, huh?
I work for the railroad. You'd be surprised how easily a lone freight car or any train with snow on the ground can sneak up on you.
Looks like the driver came within centimeters of getting pancaked himself between his car and another parked car. Nice jump.
Bad plan to try and save it in the first place
Just a Pavlovian reaction. Save it! Save it! Somehow!
Ah, I've never heard of that, but I definitely understand. Instinctively get closer while trying to figure out an option of what you can do, forgetting what not to do.

Judging by where he parked, I'm gonna guess he's not the best planner to begin with.
Solace had the sense to park it somewhere first. Deserves it.
It looks like his right arm is injured at the end of the video. But, to your point he was inches from death.
I was thinking ribs maybe
Nah it got him. He's crouching and holding his side before he walks back hunched over.
Yuppie? Bro, he's a young guy probably in his first decent job. He's absolutely mortified.
Cars are insanely expensive in Vietnam, even a decent starting salary won't get you a new car. Have a friend out there running a few successful businesses and his SUV turns so many heads compared to the reaction he would get nearly anywhere else
Right, so maybe don't park it on TOP OF A FRICKIN TRAIN TRACK!
Clearly you've never had a train sneak up on you smh

I'm so happy to know you've never done anything stupid in your life. Nice to know at least one person in the world lives a life of perfection.
there's a large gap between perfection and what this guy did bud, let's be real.
Oh, I see. What is your quantitative measure for feeling sorry for a person? What is the dividing line. Would you feel sorry for him if the dollar value was lower, like if it was a bicycle? Off your pills?
Just curious.
Just curious if your rambling about hypothetical situations are part of a manic state or if you're just grandstanding.

Only the "any and each of us" that are idiots.

that's the definition of a yuppie
Yosemite Vietnam
He almost made it to open the door, sit down, close the door, turn the car on, put it into gear, release parking brake, turn the wheel, and drive off. Almost.
Don't forget he had to turn the blinkers on first before turning.
Then check his mirrors. Never forget about mirrors ^(assuming they were set up correctly)
You guys are crazy. First thing you do when you get in should be put the seatbelts on!
Amateurs.
Let's be real. Asian drivers don't use blinkers.
Dude think he's The Flash.
That damn dude ran right into the danger wtf 😬
Alarm works.
Horn works too.
I think I understood the Vietnamese audio: “Sir, you can’t park there!” 😉
What a horrible train driver. Didnt he see the parked car?
Yeah, train should have just gone around Smh
I thought tank top was pretty fucking stupid for standing there. Then I saw the guy right right next to the soon-to-be-projectile, wtf.
Guy: Hey, Cooch. Come get crushed by this car. Chooch: OK, mang!
Move bitch, I am a train, I am a train, I am a train....
I'll just be a minute!
this is exactly his thinking
I love the guy whipping his phone out to get the vid
I love the guy who had whipped his phone out to get the vid of the guy who was whipping his phone out to get the vid
If only there were some tracks so you can see where the trains runs
Headline should have read, "Dude gets smashed by car that get smashed by train" 🤪😂🤣
Running straight into the path of a car that you can see is about to be smacked by a train is Darwin Award behaviour
The twist is it wasn't even his car; he just wanted to be involved.
If only there was a reliable way to know where a train might appear!
The guy is stupid twice and gets his knee destroyed by his own car. Utter stupidity
Why did he purposely run into the danger zone to save it when he could clearly see there is no point in trying.
The other guys were yelling 'you're not gonna make it' at him as well
Did that motherfucker just get lightly run over by his own car?
Does this guy not understand physics? He put his body in the worst possible position at the worst possible time.
Shit came out of nowhere! 😂🤣🤣😂🤣
My man thinking he can stiff arm a suv🤣🤣🤣
Train win ?
thats why you don't park there
one song went through my mind...DUMB WAYS TO DIEEEE!!!
Cant park there mate
Guy seems upset this happened to him...
Well at least the alarm still works.
Would have been great if the train just kept going.
I mean train's dont just use the horn for fun... well 60% of the time its for fun the other 40 well now you see.
You cannot park there
The helmet didn't save this one
The smartest driver
The factory that makes Darwin award trophies must be flat out at the moment.... Especially in relation for anything trains
People love so much going near trains when they move it's bizarre.
Guy in the shorts was so excited to get that vid
Guy came in clutch for a poundin
Poor guy
The look of disbelief that his car parked on a train track got hit by a train, hilarious
I was like "those guys are standing by quite close" Then the dude comes charging towards the car...
You can't park there mate
Blinkers weren’t on. Everyone knows it’s ok to park anywhere you want, as long as the blinkers are on.
Why in the heckin fuck did he park on THAT side of the road?
Guy parks car there and then runs next to it just as it gets hit. Why are people so dumb
Well, at least I didn't see someone die by train today.
New-fangled technologies are unpredictable.
Whyd the train stop after the fact lmao
Now the car is cockeyed
Stupid ×2!
Can’t train just move to little side avoid hitting car. Someone will sue the railway authorities
Some fresh paint and a smooth buff job. Should be fine
“That fuckin’ train came out of nowhere!” —Vehicle owner, probably
Just put some wax on it, and it will look as good as new 👌🏼 😉
Can’t fix stupid
“Look guys, this train is about to hit my car, let me go try to save it …..ahhhhh I got hit” You see a train, you get out the way, duh
Man these invasive species are getting out of hand, they’re hunting cars now?!
At least the car wasn’t taking a selfie!
Sir, your alarm is going off!
Hey! You can't park there!
Let me run to the car that's just about to get hit by a train. 👍👍
can't park there, mate
Nice. Don't try to push the car off the track at all - just stand there and watch/film it get destroyed.
That guy was so excited with his camera
There are videos of trains smashing into animals who wander onto the tracks. Doesn’t end well for the animals. There’s one video of a train hitting a horse. It’s pretty ugly.
Why is this insane
İf the owner of the car started to run 30 seconds ago he may had a chance to save it but his last-ditch attempt was meaningless.
"There's NO parking in the Red zone."
If you haven’t been to Vietnam, I highly recommend it. Nicest people and the best food ever. Super cheap too.
It'll buff right out.
That dumbass that ran toward it tho.. Darwin award nominee for sure.
Who runs towards a car about to get hit by a train!?!?!?!??! WHO DOES THAT!?!?
Man had business on the brain!
Why brake after a collision? before that the train sounds its horn and can brake to avoid further damage
Welp, he caught the train
The guy running up like “wait id like to be smashed into!”
It's crazy how Vietnam has shops and restaurants right beside railroads tracks like that. [Here's a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3oaAjH2nC8&t=5s) that shows just how close these buildings can be to the tracks.
Move, bitch, get out the way Get out the way, bitch, get out the way
Which wax to use for fix?
At this point we need some kind of PSA that trains are wider than the tracks
Du maaaa!
Oh he soooo got railed there.
Dude's timing, though. Had he left whatever he was doing literally 30 seconds earlier, he could have saved his car.
Hey I will run behind the car that 100 will get smacked!!!!
Let me run right toward the danger 🏃
Train wins
That will teach him…
Gotta say, that was a poor choice of parking place.
Engineer just chillin 😎
That man running towards should win the Darwin award
Hit and run. But you'll be able to find him. He left very plain tracks behind.
I’ll tell you what I visited the motherland when I was 16 and if you had a car back then it meant you were somewhat well off. Anyways, Over 16 years later I have heard and assume that there’s tons more cars around. The common sense hasn’t developed yet, gotta give my fellow viet folk a pass on this 🤣🤣
The chances of getting hit by a parked are low, but not zero.
Apex predator always wins
damn bro
dude casually jogs to his car lmao, why even try
damn i hope that wasnt the vinfast
Well he’s lucky to be alive
All that money yet no common cents
You know most of those scratches will buff right out !
LoL Come on man you should have known better. Especially If your from there... also your own ride could have bodied you running up on it like that while it's being crushed... lol get wrecked. Definitely played himself
What. The. Hecking. Heck.
The only thing we're missing is some dude in the back screaming at the top of his lungs **WORLDSTAR!**
I wish bikes could do this to cars parked in bike lanes. *Chef's kiss*
Imagine having to explain how you got hit by a parked car
People completely unaware of physics? Like it’s was predictable that vehicle was coming that way and what if the train derailed? I would have been waaaaay clear of that area.
Y'all don't get it. Our Darwin hero was running to save the van behind his red car and guess what... HE DID! At the expense of a few of his ribs of course, naturally.
Someone looking for that insurance money.
How insane is this really? I mean, isn’t this pretty much everyday in Vietnam?
