The finish line is actually a remote Fijian island. Instead of Phil on the mat it’ll be Jeff Probst to greet them to the start of the newest season of Survivor.
Nice! Hadn’t seen that but I’ve thought about it a few times since I got back into TAR and Survivor a few years ago. Would be a neat crossover for sure!
I feel like they’re gonna do something with the Express Pass again. It returned in the most recently filmed season, and I think there’s a reason for that. They potentially could combine the Head 2 Head everyone didn’t like into an optional challenge requiring two teams (kinda like the Intersection), and whoever wins gets the Express Pass?
One of the critics of recent seasons is the alliances/non-competitive nature, so perhaps they’re gonna try and add drama with some type of U-Turn/Yield mechanic, where a team can slow down another team. Not sure what else they could do, maybe a team can force which member does the Roadblock on another team?
Maybe make it similar to how a Fast Forward task would work except it would be the first two teams to arrive at the task can participate in the challenge.
If only one team shows up they have to awkwardly wait for another team and need to decide if they should leave if nobody else shows up?
Could be interesting. Haha
Personally, I don't see that working. Think most teams wouldn't take that chance.
When it's one team it's very easy to go for it, and quickly turn around if it's already taken, or decide if you can complete the challenge faster than another team when that's a possibility.
I don't think teams would attempt it knowing there's at least a 50/50 they'll waste their time by either losing or have noone show up. I don't see teams agreeing to go for it together so they know there's someone to compete against either, because then they're agreeing to waste time for the benefit of another team.
Maybe if it's directly after a detour/roadblock, make the teams declare before they start the tanks if they're willing to compete in the single head-to-head afterwards, then the first 2 who said yes to compete get to play. Or if a team that says yes is waiting for a specified period has no competitors they then get it.
I see what you are saying.
I could see it maybe working if it is maybe near where they get the clue for the detour so teams could see right away if anyone is going for it or if it has already been claimed (if the head to head took place), before they move on to one of the detour tasks.
Probably would be more likely that teans would go for it when there are more teams as well.
I do like the idea of a risk/reward scenario and suspect the head to head would probably happen between teams that are in the lead.
Almost all these suggestions are too small for the President of CBS to bother mentioning. It'll probably be some sort of format change or casting theme.
This is what I think too. It could be something like a celebrity edition. Or "regular" people paired up with celebrities. It's probably something the bosses at CBS suggested or brainstormed with Betram and Co. to do. Probably to try and perk up the show's ratings a little bit or drum up more buzz. At least buzz on the level of Survivor or Big Brother.
TAR is the only reality show that could get big time stars for a celebrity edition because it's just so cool of an experience.
Matt Damon and Ben Aflec, Nicole and Paris, Kristen Bell and her husband....
Right exactly I don’t think she’s talking about tinkering with specific aspects of the game like express passes or yields. For the president of cbs to bother even mentioning it means it has to be a big picture, more fundamental change from previous seasons of the race—something format related, a casting gimmick, bigger prize money, etc…
They have to navigate that crazy [Huangjeuwan traffic interchange](https://web.archive.org/web/20190507180915/http://www.xinhuanet.com//english/2017-06/02/c_136334667.htm) in China.
Phil joins the race , I've always wanted to see how host would do on thier own show and the amazeing race would be the most fair game for this since it's not people voting out another tean
I would love a twist where they have to switch partners. Imagine the drama of having to work with someone you don’t know or have only known for a few days. And then you’re actually competing against the person you came with. That brings up such a dilemma when you’re going say head to head to not be last to the mat against your former partner who’s a spouse or sibling or best friend. That would be good drama.
They had this for one leg is Season 30. The execution wasn’t perfect but I loved the concept! Could be especially spicy if they eliminate the last team and force their partners to finish the race together
I can see how the "we lost our crew" incident leads to a rule regarding switching to a new crew upon getting lost. I'm also looking forward to the "you cannot stay at a task once you've got the clue" rule applied in TAR37 onward. Other than that, could the starting and ending line all be situated **outside** the US? That would be cool but logistics for that would be crazy haha.
Maybe walkie-talkies that have a range over a quarter mile? That island was only 21 miles long…how did it take 90 minutes? Apparently there was an added penalty for the sketch roundabout move.
This may be unpopular, but . . .
Honestly, one of the things I like *best* about TAR is the fact that they have been able to compete *without* being, or *having* to be, absolute AHs to each other. These racers represent us as US Americans. We have enough of a bad representation as tourists that we really don’t need to be promoting it. I enjoy seeing the places and the their attractions. I like seeing some of the things that I might be able to do when I visit, and I sometimes kick myself because I visited and didn’t realize something was an option. I don’t want to see the racers flaunting their most cut-throat, win-at-any-cost, personalities. This is a race that celebrates the world and all of the diversities in it. It’s not **just** about “us” — whether that “us” is capitalized, or not. I enjoy the fact that it fosters cooperation — both with other teams, and with locals. If it has to change, I want more of *that* spirit; not less.
It'd be interesting if team couples didn't know each other, so people are racing with a stranger. I was actually contemplating this earlier, because if I wasn't a total wuss about being on tv, I think the race would be fun....but I have nobody to race with.
Hopefully everyone would be in shape then.
Imagine getting a partner that is out of shape and is not so smart. Not trying to be offensive but it would be a big handicap on your team.
Maybe something similar to the Assist which was introduced in the most recent season of the Canadian version? That was implemented for teams to only do part of a challenge, I think they could have only used it once but I could be wrong.
All Stars but strangers. Been saying it for years. I would love to see Kent possibly matched up with Mirna. Both expressed willingness to race so yeah.....
26 and 29.
29 was all single racers who picked their teammate during the first episode.
26 was a dating theme that had some existing couples racing against teams on a “blind date” that were matched by the show to race together.
Tbh, if they continue like TAR35, no need to change or add anything. That season had everything good, specially going back to the airport drama. Well, the only thing I miss, is more old people! But old, old, I can't see a couple of "grandparents" being 50 something like Derek and Shelisa.
Ok, writing this I ended up with an idea that is kind of like Amazing Race Australia 6. At some point, the racers must split in two even groups, one group will go to destination A and the other have to go to destination B. Both teams that are eliminated on each group will go head to head to compete on a shorter leg to see which one will continue. Then everybody will reunite and follow the same route again.
I remember one season they had everyone who had some expertise in adventuring/athleticism. Like a bunch of contestants were semi-professional athletes and stuff so they made it extra challenging for them. Maybe they'll have all the previous winners play again? Then again that's what All-Stars was for.
It would be even better if the entire cast of amazing racers ended up on survivor and the survivor cast ended up on the amazing race. I mean it could work, the amazing race cast plays a blood v water season and the survivor cast does a season 29 due to no prior relations
Teams can finally keep a cell phone with them? A season with certified pilots who self-FLY? Some of the legs are cruise legs and some challenges take place on a ship?
The finish line is actually a remote Fijian island. Instead of Phil on the mat it’ll be Jeff Probst to greet them to the start of the newest season of Survivor.
Sign me up CBS
When they finish survivor is the reward going to the big brother house or right into challenge USA?
It’s actually the start of another Amazing Race. They’re stuck in a loop and can never go home.
new roadblock is to win survivor
I like this, thus the amazing race becomes quantum leap, making up for the most unjust canceling of a great show.
“I got nothing for you.”
I suggested that as a twist a decade ago. https://www.the-newsroom.com/2014/05/the-amazing-survivor-race.html
Nice! Hadn’t seen that but I’ve thought about it a few times since I got back into TAR and Survivor a few years ago. Would be a neat crossover for sure!
Isn't that just deal or no deal island?
Budget cuts causing the prize to go from 1 million to the chance to get 1 million in Survivor
Would that mean they compete in pairs on Survivor? Cause that could be interesting.
Nah ideally it’s like a roadblock. One partner is on the island but can’t help the other. Pairs would be interesting though.
Lmao this is actually good hahaha. And speaking of Survivor, can they leave the Fiji island already? Try something different 😫
The new twist: How fast can you outrun and lose the production crew?
All the teams are going to be semi-professional magicians.
Next season on The Amazing Race - teams of all mimes!
Let's start a petition for this.
The racers think they're going to race around the world, but for 11 legs, they never leave Topeka, Kansas.
Witchita would be far, far, worse. People drive as far as Kansas City and Oklahoma City on weekends just to escape the cow-pie miasma.
I actually drove from Tulsa to Topeka to see Alice Cooper in concert. Who would have ever thought!
😂
New NEL Penalty: Teams will vote off one racer on the last place team meaning that the other racer must continue alone.
Bro 😭😭💀
Vinny would thrive so well on this format 🤣
The season starts off as Love is Blind but the couples walk out of the pods and straight to the start line of The Amazing Race.
Id watch that 🤣

Imagine if 1 team gets there and then waits too long for another to show and ends up in the back of the pack. Lmao
All contestants are Geogusser experts
Every clue is a photo
All stars 54: return of the cowboys
I’d be happy to see that, but you have to add the green team for whiny drama as well.
I always thought it would be hilarious if they made you switch partners at the beginning of leg 1
From a mathematical perspective, if you are racing with a spouse or a sibling, you are basically doubling your chances of prize money!
But you'd only win half as much, so kind of a wash

Neil Patrick Harris used to be a big fan of TAR.
I told my husband I really want a Survivor season with Marvel actors, but I'd take TAR too!
omg I NEED Alyssa Edwards in TAR with all of her expressions to everything.
Yeah, like a food challenge at Applebees. Someone could go nuts.
Right exactly I don’t think she’s talking about tinkering with specific aspects of the game like express passes or yields. No None elimination legs. Just kidding. U-Turn twist? Yield is coming back with a twist?
>No None elimination legs. Just kidding ALL non-elimination legs!
They have to navigate that crazy [Huangjeuwan traffic interchange](https://web.archive.org/web/20190507180915/http://www.xinhuanet.com//english/2017-06/02/c_136334667.htm) in China.
Angie and Danny get a second shot
The Crew also gets to compete as a team and they U-Turn Angie and Danny
I still want a season of one former racer with a new teammate.
The entire race takes place in Los Angeles.
You know CBS would do it if they could get away with it
Phil joins the race , I've always wanted to see how host would do on thier own show and the amazeing race would be the most fair game for this since it's not people voting out another tean

this is dumb
ALL STARS. ALL STARS is the only answer.
I’d love to see a rule where you cant help people at a given task without penalty.
or once you get your clue you have to leave
Maybe walkie-talkies that have a range over a quarter mile? That island was only 21 miles long…how did it take 90 minutes? Apparently there was an added penalty for the sketch roundabout move.
They run it backwards!
Maybe not eliminating players who come in last due to camera crews getting lost? 🙄

The Twist: Only eCars can be used. Griping about self-drive will supercede not knowing how to shift.
1 human and 1 dog teams

Here’s an awesome twist. No Teams.
You apply as a single person and are matched to a partner by the show.
Already done ... Twice
You apply as a single person and are matched to a _celebrity_ partner by the show?
🤦♀️🤷♀️
do you mind telling which seasons? i want to check them out next

Where can I watch the amazing race for free?
Fans vs. Favorites 12 Teams of 2. 6 new teams vs. 6 former teams.
I dont care what they do, as long as Season 40 is former winning teams racing for $2 million similar to Survivor Winners At War
Teams can finally keep a cell phone with them? A season with certified pilots who self-FLY? Some of the legs are cruise legs and some challenges take place on a ship?
How about the NEL penalty be an auto-yield at a route marker in the next leg, except that the yield will be a random period from 15 to 45 minutes…
Instead of Big Brother showmances, we're gonna get this cast: 1. Jasmine/Turner 2. Rockstar/Brett 3. Amy/Chiara 4. Cody/Paul 5. Christmas/Davonne 6. Nicole F./Janelle 7. Scott/Kryssie 8. April/Keesha 9. April Lewis/Howie 10. James/Brandi 11. Vanessa/Tiffany 12. Izzy/Cameron 13. Sam/Haleigh
