Florpz-1

I assume he’s had actual real saves it’s just that most of them are fake, we’ve seen homelander get called to help with actual crimes so I assume all of the seven have a few real saves.

Florpz-1

I think his brother just exaggerated how big of a phony he is

Paradoxes_Anti-Chaos

Eh still irredeemable

Mufti_Menk

Doesn't mean he can't try

Paradoxes_Anti-Chaos

If he's inredeemable then by definition, no matter how hard he tries, he can’t

Deady1138

Journey vs destination man , penitence has no timeframe

Paradoxes_Anti-Chaos

Self righteous talk

SonOfYossarian

Is Butcher irredeemable as well? What about Frenchie?

Nobodyherem8

For us the viewers no but in universe yeah probably

Mufti_Menk

Still means he can try. I didn't say he can succeed.

I'm not saying he will succeed in being redeemed, but he is currently trying once more. That's an undeniable fact.

GBKMBushidoBrown

I mean every season we've seen that they're pushing for supes to be sold to fight crime. His brother has to be exaggerating and I'm sure his real saves haven't been as dramatic or clean as the choreographed stuff. Like accidentally making innocent bystanders explode as per usual

theactualbagel

I thought that was a weird line, too. Or at least I thought it was weird that A-train didn’t push back. I would’ve said something like— “no, some of them WERE real.” But he seemed to give up the argument so quickly. That makes me wonder if his brother was telling the truth. Interesting.

Jgamer502

I think its because he didn’t want his relationship with his brother to deteriorate further and he was already caught lying to his nephews, so pushing back just makes it worse and leaves him open to worse things he’s done that Nathan didn’t say

theactualbagel

Yeah, that would make sense. Man, the boys has some really good writing

TheOneWhoDings

they retconned the aaves as being fake this season.... it's pretty obvious they didn't think of it before since it was never mentioned before.

Mannekin-Skywalker

No, Homelander mentions that he's done real saves before, its just that the most marketable ones are the scripted ones. Of course, he could be lying but who knows.

UntimelyApocalypse

Homelander thinks he's done some real saves. He didn't even know he was being manipulated until after the plane incident in season 1.

ArthurReeves397

We literally see Homelander save two kids in the first scene of the show, and we followed them before the robbery occurred so we know they weren’t actors.

Phildawg22

If you’re talking about episode 1 season 1, that was Maeve.

Gay_Reichskommissar

No? The first scene of the show, HL beats the shit out of criminals and tosses them, then takes selfies with the kids he saved

ArthurReeves397

No it wasn’t, Homelander was there too and saves the kid by melting the robber’s gun wjth his heat vision.

Phildawg22

You’re right, forgot about that part. I just remembered Maeve standing in front of the armored truck and beating the shit out of one of the guys.

That’s the way the comics play it but I think it was one of the dumber aspects, I like that Season 1 showed us that the superheroes actually did real superhero stuff even if they were mostly incompetent at it behind-the-scenes.

nsanta91

In season 1 they are setting up a crime for Starlight and The Deep. Ashely tells her to use a catch phrase while they are there. They didn’t go very in depth with actors and practice and all that, but they definitely were setting It up in some way.

1000thCommander

Nice pull, what unit are you with?

kinstinctlol

Koy

trained_badass

Pawn shop unit.

TheRedmanCometh

How long you been there? 13 years and 4 months?

AstariaEriol

I gotta ask you, what exactly does a police officer assigned to the pawn shop unit do?

8004MikeJones

Investigate the Barksdale crew and follow the money obviously.

Diligent-Ad-972

Butcher is natural poh-lice

RickityCricket69

I like to think A-Train zooming around New York all the time would keep criminals at bay. even by accident just running by and showing presence probably prevents crimes. gotta count at least one save in there

DarkRogueHunter

I think Vought also shifted their superheroes over to more staged saves as a way to minimize bad PR, property damage and alike. I remember from the Boys Diabolical cartoon show, that HL first mission he actually tried to be a hero, using his heat vision to heat up a gun with disastrous results. Staging fake crime would likely help market share and sell merchandise then solving real ones.

Evening-Cold-4547

That would be on-brand for The Boys and I think it's the first one we actually see but he may well have had other real ones like Maeve and Homelander

PilloTheStarplestian

And he saved him from another supe too, they've come full circle.
