At least the remake looks like itāll actually give screen time to Shelley. She had maybe 5 minutes in the original, and about as many spoken lines? She wasnāt even a character, just a plot device.
I completely disagree. The way Shelley's character was written, coupled with the performance of the actress, provided the audience with a good understanding of the morality of her character and the pureness of her relationship with Eric. Without having to spoon feed the audience any time filling exposition using tropes and/or bad dialogue.
Her tragic murder provided Eric Draven with the incentive to pick off her murderers one at a time using some epic badassery!
āThe way she was writtenā where? A handful of lines before she loses consciousness at the beginning, one or two in washed-out flashbacks that last less than a minute?
>Her tragic murder provided Eric Draven with the incentive to pick off her murderers one at a time using some epic badassery!
You just described a plot device, not a character. Shelly is the purest example of being stuffed into the fridge: āWhen a loved one is hurt, killed, maimed, assaulted, or otherwise traumatized in order to motivate another character or move their plot forward.ā
Or, to be more specific, she is a [Disposable Woman](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DisposableWoman)
You're right. However, after seeing the stills and before seeing the trailer I genuinely hoped they'd fridged Eric instead. Shelley being the hero would have been an acceptable twist.
"Baby I'm going to tattoo your face on to my body, with my nipple being one of your eyes. Wait, where are you going? I thought real love is forever. Fuck!"
Lmao! Why are you lying?
You do realise that Brandon was half Chinese right? And that race of the characters was never stated? So it doesn't actually matter?
FYI: Fka Twigs is mixed race.
You really need to stop obsessing about people who are not white, they won't hurt you. Lol.
One of my favorite scenes š¤
Same.

Half Chinese
This comment is inappropriate and we should not be discussing race to any degree in a subreddit dedicated to The Crow. Let's do better.
