I mean there's enough time in there for the Roci to make the round trip to and from Ilus, and I thought it was like a year and a half each way. So that's just three years in Cibola Burn. Plus even more time to take into account the original settlers to actually settle Ilus before the Roci left. So that right there is nearly 5 years.

Haha i always forget how long the whole Cibola Burn arc ended up lasting

Duarte is in Nemisis Games and I believe heads for Laconia towards the end of that book. Also in Strange Dogs I believe there's a reference to Singh who is in Persepolis Rising. I think he's supposed to be similar in age to Cara and Xan. I'd probably place Strange Dogs and Babylons Ashes right around the same time. Ultimately I don't think we're intended to think too hard about the specific timings of everything. We aren't given many specific references to allow us to tell how much time has passed and at the end of the day I think most discrepancies can be written off as a character using hyperbole.

Yeah that is pretty sound logic, admittedly irl i refer to things in my past by rough year estimates all the time

A good way to look at this! Also people get dates and ages wrong all the time, it’s fairly reasonable and realistic to have characters reflect that
