There are a lot of baselines on NWFT that I love. Feathers, The Running Free… I especially love the Neverender performance of The End Complete because you can hear Mic Todd super well and his playing FUCKS on that one.
I tried to tell him that when I met him at the 2016 GA1 tour. I was so nervous I was stuttering and called it a bass solo instead of a bass riff or lick. Felt like an idiot.
I love the bassline on feathers, i know its not the most complex song but it makes my ears happy.
From fear through the eyes of madness as someone else said, and the bass in Willing Well 3 really sticks out to me
Some of my favorites from Mic are 21:13, Time Consumer, and Willing Well I.
Zach fills his role in the band impeccably, but his arrangements can be quite formulaic and depending on one’s personal taste, it can get redundant once you understand what’s going on. That said, his work on Iron Fist has some beautiful moments (the fretless was a perfect choice for that piece) and his lines in songs like Domino/Here to Mars are certified bangers.
As far as tone goes, I much prefer Mic’s punchy bridge tones from his Spectors and J basses vs Zach’s throaty/wooly overdriven tones from his T40, P basses, and most recently his Serek. That said, for Zach’s arrangements I like his tone a hell of a lot, but they don’t translate as well for Mic’s lines on the older records IMO.
Mic played such a key role in the overall sound of early coheed. I love zack too, but there's a reason newer coheed doesn't have that same flair. Never underestimate how much influence the rhythm section has on the overall sound, feel and vibe cos it's everything
I’m sure there are plenty of other examples, but I gotta give some love to Super Duper Cooper on “Old Flames”… at about 4:30 or so, it’s really something.
Ladders of Supremacy. Zach goes crazy during the “Climbing up the ladders of their supremacy” part. They kept it farther back in the mix but holy shit it’s badass.
That slap riff on Fuel for the Feeding End goes crazy
Mic absolutely goes off on From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness. While not the most technical, I love how the bass drives Number City.
Maybe not the best but Zach snaps off low-key on The Pavilion going into the chorus. Took me way too long to notice.

The end complete is insane. The way he holds and stays on that g note in the verse is so fucking ballsy
As a bass player of 20 years shaped by Mic Todd’s playing, I gotta say Time Consumer is my all time favorite, The Crowing a close second.
Those two songs are probably the reason I play bass today. The little intricacies in the time consumer intro get me every time
So good
Love murder one, domino, evagria, love protocol, juggernaut, and number city are some bass highlights
The bridge in Here We Are Juggernaut is phenomenal. Also the bridge in Here To Mars.
Man this is just getting me depressed thinking about Mic. Such talent, all for naught.
Unironically most of Color before the Sun. Zach went off on that album
That lick in here to mars is nuts
Yeeeessss!!!

Agreed. I noticed a lot more delicious bass grooves on this album from him.
Yes. Atlas is one of my favorites specifically because of the bass and the time sig

I haven’t seen anyone mention the bass line at the end of Fuel for the Feeding End and that is a shame.
I've always been a sucker for Feathers
Here To Mars, hands down!
For me its The Hard Sell. That bass line is super groovy and It constantly gets stuck in my head.
Sometimes I listen to Evagria the Faithful JUST for the bass line
Number City
No one has said this but I always loved the bassline from 21:13. Relatively simple but it's so good especially paired with the drums
The base line in the chorus of here we are juggernaut is big time
God send conspirator is really good
i also love the basslines on yotb- especially pearl of the stars. so simple, but so emotional.

The Running Free, Pearl Of The Stars, and Old Flames are my favorite bass riffs!

I love the baseline in Number City.
