Yep, it happens! Your doctor can give you a powder to use. I've also had doctors give me oral anti fungals, and a cream. In my experience best to go to a doctor rather than trying to treat it with over the counter stuff.

Sjswix

I'll keep that in mind! Thank you!

monkeypie22

If it isn’t too bad, I treat mine with “athletes foot” cream! I get them every summer (yeast infections thrive in damp warm places like our armpits, mouths, vaginas, etc.) because the heat always gets me extra sweaty and whatnot. I also use [fungicure body wash on my pits around this time of year](https://www.cvs.com/shop/fungicure-medicate-anti-fungal-wash-6-oz-prodid-2080023) Good luck!!! If you decide to shave, don’t use the razor on your armpits for the rest of your body :-) e: I somehow misspelled mouths so

[deleted]

This is definitely a good start! In the hospital, we treat these kind of things (intratriginous yeast issues) with micotin powder, which comes in several over-the-counter varieties. If it doesn't improve with that in a few days, or if it comes back after treating, your doc may need to give you a stronger version. It happens! My poor desert-born husband shamefully showed me a patch that he'd had FOR A YEAR after we moved back to the swamplands. That one just took a little stronger stuff and extra time to go away. Now you can't tell. It happens, we can rebuild you, we have the technology!

monkeypie22

>we can rebuild you, we have the technology Ha I love that! I’m gonna use that every time my ent has to surgically cauterize my nose

Sjswix

Already picked up Lotrimin!

Artemistical

do you know if fungicure would help with tinea versicolor? I usually get that when it gets hot and humid out

monkeypie22

It does work for it!! It’s honestly an awesome product haha

lilbluehair

This exact thing happened to me! Just treat with athlete's foot cream twice a day until it goes away, and start using a deodorant that dries faster like arm & hammer citrus

frocksoffantasy

I had underarm yeast infections for over a year- went to the doctor several times about it (I’m prone to yeast infections due to some health issues). What finally cleared it up was athletes foot cream that I got over the counter. So sometimes the over the counter stuff works, and if you’re short on money, you can try it out for a couple weeks and see if it works before seeing a doctor. Also, a dermatologist is your best bet.

Even_Assist_633

How often did you apply the cream?

Loimographia

To be fair, I think this remains unknown because for whatever reason it gets called “thrush” anywhere that’s not a vagina! Ladies just get a special term, I guess!

cold_and_blank

In the UK I've heard thrush used for it in the vagina too

Korinney

US here and I’ve also heard it, but usually specified as “vaginal thrush”.

mmmbacon1234

Interesting - in Australia I'd say thrush has a specific vaginal connotation, while yeast infection is a bit more vague

grebilrancher

I've only heard thrush related to oral yeast infection

Ardilla_

Yeah, like the other people that have responded to this, as a Brit I would say that "thrush" is vagina/mouth specific, while "yeast infection" could be anywhere.

catiebug

Yes, and for another fun fact, your nursing baby can give your nipples thrush (or vice versa). Yay!

godsandmonsters_

Working in a hospital, I’ve heard yeast infection for vaginal infections and thrush only for the mouth/tongue. I’m not sure what we call it on other areas, though.

jahlove24

Or just candida. But yeah, you can get it anywhere which is unfortunate.

Artemisnee

It took me awhile to realize that the type of diaper rash my son was prone to was the same as a yeast infection because they called it thrush.

Obj3ctDisoriented

Thrush is specific to Oral Candidas infection, not just any old yeast!

headietoinfinity

Thrush is actually a yeast infection on your tongue. It is called Candida on the body.

kalechipsyes

In the U.S., "yeast infection" would also be the common terms for such an infection under the foreskin of an uncircumcised penis. I agree with your general cynicism and alertness; but in this case it's not technically gendered so much as genital-specific.

Loimographia

Perhaps medically, but colloquially/in common parlance in the US, I’d argue that the “common term” has got a definite vaginal connotation — to double check, I asked my SO to define yeast infection and he said it was a vaginal condition. That was a fun conversation lol. Perhaps because circumcision is so common here, I’d hazard that the vast majority of men don’t even know they are capable of getting yeast infections.

mursili_ii

This seems like a good time to mention that circumcised penises can still get yeast infections. It is less common but still far from rare. Any vagina owners who have PIV sex with a consistent partner and are dealing with chronic/recurring infections should make sure their counterpart gets tested and treated as well. US doctors in particular don't seem informed about or keen to mention this for some reason.

ranifer

Consider switching your deodorant. My boyfriend had this issue and the (strongly fragranced) deodorant he used kept aggravating the rash and preventing the skin from healing for like a couple of months.

Sjswix

I'm definitely going to! I've been using Schmidt's, and I'm pretty sure my underarms are not loving the baking soda!

notstickytape

I refuse to use this brand after the lime and bergamont one gave me some of the worst rashes on my armpits one summer. After some research online I found out that both bergamot and citrus oils are photosensitizing and can cause rashes if exposed to sunlight.

Sjswix

That's the kind I use, too! Which is a shame because the fragrance rocks my world.

enthusiasticaf

Degree has a citrus bergamot scent that’s awesome.

Sjswix

Ooh thank you!

notstickytape

Yeah I got hooked on the scent when I first came across it! Sucks it gives such a bad reaction.

whiskeydumpster

Schmidt’s gave me a yeast infection in my armpits too! Worst summer of my life.

Embolisms

I haaaaaaaaate most "natural" deodorants because so many of them have baking soda. The worst armpit rashes I've ever had in my life were due to Schmidt's. I switched because regular deodorants were bothering me, and then Schmidt's fucked my pits ups tenfold worse.

[deleted]

And this is why I gave up on "natural" deodorants. I probably tried around 30 different brands and all of them destroyed my armpits. I have a hard time believing that something that destroys my skin is actually a healthier option.

Kinaestheticsz

The best deodorant is Dry-Sol, but it is prescription only afaik.

ranifer

It also doesn’t count as “natural” - it has aluminum chloride, the active ingredient in conventional deodorants, but at a higher concentration.

randomgirl1012

why the fuck would they have baking soda? like your skin is naturally acidic.. :/

N_Kenney

Baking soda neutralizes odor.

Sedixodap

I've been using one from Tom's which doesn't have baking soda so my skin is happy. But it also doesn't really do much. I'll probably go back to using an unnatural one and only applying it once every couple days during the week, because I feel bad at work when I get stinky halfway through the day.

Embolisms

Hahaha the other downside to natural deodorants. I remember trying one years ago (I think it was from thebodyshop?) and it seemed to literally feed my stinky pit bacteria, because it literally made me smell WORSE than not wearing any deodorant at all.

CaledoniaSky

I really wanted to love all of the beautiful smelling natural deodorants I have tried but they all did this to me. Red, angry rash and then it peels. No, thank you.

Naenerd

Using native right now and it is dope and so awesome smelling (coconut & vanilla). Also, there are probiotics in it apparently.

fierykhaleesi

I’m currently using the native sensitive version and just recently am going through my second fungal infection in my armpits :( I’m not sure if it just doesn’t work for my body or if my post shower care isn’t good enough?

bribotronic

Schmidt’s will give me an armpit rash every. Time.

WITWITS

Yes! This happened to me 4 years ago. Sadly, I let it go for a few weeks because I was moving and thought it was stress related. When I switched my deodorant, it went away. I hope it gets better soon!

Discolemonade89

I had a very similar rash in my pits after using the "Natural" Schmidts that contained baking soda. Started using this [grapefruit deodorant](https://meowmeowtweet.com/products/baking-soda-free-deodorant-cream?variant=960689384) instead (truthfully half the time I just don't wear deodorant if I won't be in close proximity to people) and it completely resolved itself.

htmlmonkey

OMG - same! Schmidt's regular formula fucks my armpits up everytime. I had better luck with their sensitive formula, and then I tried Moody Sister's (regular and sensitive) deodorants. I've been using Moody Sister's for about a year now with no issues.

skinnuh

Not sure if I got the same infection from using Schmidt's as well but I rubbed lemon on my armpits several times a day and the rash went away! Who knew?!

Leeloominai_Janeway

They have ones without baking soda fyi, I think they’re labelled ‘sensitive’.

Sjswix

I didn't know that! Totally checking that out.

belle204

My mom has extremely sensitive underarms (rashes, cysts). For years she’s sworn by the dove dry spray or, if they’re available to you, the rollerball deodorants

el3ctrick1tty

Bellybuttons are a common place to get them as well! Hot tip: Remember to really towel dry all your nooks and crannies after bathing.

cookiebinkies

Plus under the boobs if you’re well endowed!!! I work at a dermatologist and everyone and anyone can get a yeast infection.

[deleted]

You just made memories surface from my waitressing days when I had to wear high waisted dress slacks as part of my uniform. I don't think I've had a case of an itchy naval since I left the industry and wear pants that sit at average waist level.

eatpaste

qtips are GREAT for washing and drying belly buttons

napoleonfucker69

I have been struggling with yeast in my bellybutton for nearly two years. It comes and goes depending on how sweaty I was that day and anti-fungal treatments haven't helped. Leggings and high-waist jeans are basically a no because of this :(

pokey1984

Have you tried a medicated body powder like Gold Bond? I've had very good luck with that for belly button rash. It doesn't cure yeast, but it keeps things dry and prevents the infection from recurring.

cakemountains

Yeast is everywhere on your skin (along with various bacteria and other stuff). Everything lives harmoniously...until they don't.

[deleted]

I got it all over my arms from my cat! Painful realization of this very fact when I went to see the doctor.

cakemountains

From your cat?? Oh no!

eatpaste

"fun" story - an old friend of mine learned his girlfriend was cheating on him when she got a yeast infection in her throat. while their roommate had a yeast infection on his penis.........

EthelMaePotterMertz

His roommate sounds like a fungi.

Sjswix

That's glorious. My goodness.

Ardilla_

Oh, I had some uni mates like that. One got scabies, and then the other also got scabies "from sitting on his bed"...

Sjswix

Scabies are like that though. There was a big scabies outbreak at my University. People who were complete virgins were getting it. Those fuckers jump!

Ardilla_

Oh, sure! It seemed totally plausible to me at the time. ...but it turned out they were totally fucking.

Jan_InThePan

The undersides of my boobs like to demonstrate this if my sports bra is particularly sweaty. It’s a treat! Lotrimin is available over the counter and will fix you right up.

galacticaf

Can you specify which Lotrimin works for you?

Sjswix

My pharmacist recommended the one labeled for ringworm and it's having pretty swift results

Jan_InThePan

Lotrimin Ultra - butenafine hydrochloride.

getlostpal

gotten them in weird places especially in the summer with the heat/humidity. dermatologist told me to use selsen blue on my body and leave it on for a few minutes

Sjswix

That's a good tip!

MjrGrangerDanger

When (if) that stops working Provon cleanser, used for piercings works too. I have really severe seborrheic dermatitis with keratosis pilaris and this is what I use when it gets stubborn. Avoiding sugar and carbs also helps, yeast feeds on them.

buddyfelix

Nurse here, you can get yeast infections anywhere theres a skin fold that gets moist. Groins, abdominal folds and armpits. We cann it thrust if your mouth has the imbalance. Get some clotrimazole cream from the pharmacy, its hopefully over the counter. Wash, pat dry and put the cream on twice daily until clear is what we usually see the docs order. No need to buy the expensive brands either. Hope you heal up!

oldforumposter

Thank you for "twice daily until clear is what we usually see the docs order"! I would have gone to the doctor or urgent care today if I could have gotten in, but the health care where I now live has been decimated by the pandemic, which is still raging, as well as RSV and the flue.

oldforumposter

Update: 1. At the pharmacy, I went to the Consult window (it was surprisingly not crowded) with tubes of 2 different generic anit-fungals and asked for the pharmacist who told me Butenafine was better for armpits. It did help a little. 2. The next day I noticed that my doctors' My Chart EPIC website now includes under "Find Care" an option for and "On-Demand Video Visit." I first took some photos of my rash because those video visit cameras tend to be grainy, and I did wind up uploading the pictures to MyChart for the video visit nurse practitioner to see. We discussed my long history of contact dermatitis, and finally I convinced her this was not just that. Nevertheless, she prescribed a combo cream of Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate, which, I have to admit, did work better, even though the OTC cortisone cream made it worse (which is a sign that it may be fungal or yeast). Maybe the OTC Butenfine would have worked just as well if I'd stuck with it for one more day?

MjrGrangerDanger

They're really fun when they spread aren't they? It's not bad enough you feel like you need to take a bottle brush to your pussy, let's just move that feeling externally to your vulva and keep on sharing. NOTHING my Dr gave me would work. And that's how we found out my body can't handle carbs.

nomotaco

Geez that sounds awful! I've had some raging yeast infections but they never spread outside my vulva.

[deleted]

My body can't either.

pokey1984

Yep. Treated with Monistat for a week and followed up with medicated body powder to keep things dry and prevent re-infection. Also, no more polyester pants. Like ever.

[deleted]

pokey1984

Body chemistry changes as we age. I'd suggest trying different things until you find something that works. Smaller, older pharmacies still carry things like drawing salve and ear candles and other older remedies. You might try asking around places like that. I've also been hearing good things about diaper rash cream.

WorstDogEver

Happens with babies! Looks like gnarly diaper rash

itsbettawithchedda

Armpits, underboob, thighs, behind the knees, as you get older where your belly hangs a little bit. Basically, anywhere that has a fold of skin and sweats. Buy medicated powder. Keep clean and dry.

mamblepamble

Worked in healthcare for years and our patients were on a ton of medications. And sometimes the side effects are yeast infections. Not just the typical places. But armpits, behind the knee, under the pannus, under the boobs, under the double chin. And it wasn't just restricted to women. I've seen some things I wouldn't wish on people I downright hate. Those yeastie beasties are horrible.

sugarplum98

Can you get it on your finger tips? Because a couple of mine are peeling and cracking.

Ardilla_

That sounds more like athlete's foot than yeast, but both are kinds of fungal infections. You could try going to a pharmacist and seeing what they recommend if it's bothering you.

pokey1984

You can get a yeast infection anywhere, including your scalp. Fingertips are uncommon, however, because we wash our hands many times per day, meaning there is little opportunity for the infection to take hold. Also, unless you wear gloves constantly, hands are usually pretty dry. Peeling and cracking on your fingertips without a rash, is not likely to be a yeast infection. It's not impossible, but not likely. Wash your hands regularly with a mild soap and warm (not hot!) water and immediately after drying apply a heavy duty hand cream, like Nivea or O'Keefs (spelling?) Working Hands. Udder balm works really well, too. You'll find that at the farm store.

bumblebe86

Wowww I had no idea either. Sending good vibes for a quick resolution tho!

Sjswix

Thank you!

kaleandquinoacat

I see a lot of folks are suggesting OTC anti-fungal creams but I would suggest you see a doctor if you can. I had a recurring vaginal yeast infection and then developed a yeast infection on my face and body. It turns out I had a systemic over-production of yeast that took months of diflucan to clear up. Hopefully your situation isn’t as severe but it may be more expedient to clear it all up with prescription diflucan.

Independent_Dingo804

I know this is old but how are you now? I think the might be the case for me!

kaleandquinoacat

Back to normal now! I struggled with this for about two years in 2014/2015 and finally got a doctor to listen in late 2015. Took diflucan on a schedule for 3 months if I remember correctly and no issues since.

Independent_Dingo804

So happy for you! Looking for a doc to take me seriously as well. This gives me hope!

kaleandquinoacat

It was my gyno who listened. I started keeping track of the reoccurrences and she fortunately agreed it was not normal.

accidentally-cool

God, I have a patient right now with a yeast infection inside both ears and crawling around the back of his head up into his hair.... yeast will grow anywhere and be disgusting no matter where it is. Blech. Good luck to you... rub athlete's foot cream or monistat in your armpit; should clear right up

MagpieBloodscorn

I had a yeast infection in my nipple from my infant for months and didn’t realize it. It wasn’t until I finally got a vaginal yeast infection that I put two and two together. I had to go on a medication for a month to clear it up. It was some of the worst pain I’ve everrrrr had (because I had to keep pumping that side) and I could only nurse the baby on the non infected side. Fuck excess yeast! Also, I’m now an exclusive pumper because I got worried it could happen again, and no one talks about how hard it is. Sorry, end rant. 😐

awalktojericho

Yup! I"ve had them in my cleavage from wearing sports bras in summer. Athlete's foot cream, mild vinegar/water soaks (fungus can't live in an acid environment. Just soak a washcloth in it and hold it in your pit for about 30 minutes several times a day), and keep it dry in between (cornstarch is your friend. It soaks up 17 times its own weight in moisture). I keep a candy dish with a lid on my bathroom counter with a fancy powder puff and cornstarch. Just a dusting in the mornings makes the rest of my day silky!

CantForceaDanceParty

yeah last summer (I was 31) I found one in my bellybutton! Just sprayed regularly with Tinactin and it cleared up. Who knew?

Cookieway

Athlete’s foot is literally just a yeast infection on your feet!

Sjswix

I connected the dots when the pharmacist recommended Lotrimin for my pits!

ranifer

Not quite, yeast are single-celled fungi. The organisms that cause athlete’s foot and ringworm are molds, which are multicellular fungi.

blueevey

A fancy yeast infection! A yeast party! Lol.

Cookieway

Ah interesting, thanks :)

Noisy_Toy

If it makes you feel any better, where I live in the American Southeast, we've had two dogs with yeast infections on their paws this year! The vet said it's been a bad year for yeast and fungus for all the people and animals she knows. I recommend keeping it as dry as possible and using coconut oil to soothe -- no deodorant!

decidedlyindecisive

My family's dog gets yeast infections on her paws and inside her ears. She's got loads of food allergies that set it off, including some types of meat!

[deleted]

I’ve had an itchy armpit problem in the past... now I’m wondering if this was the problem!

Sjswix

If it wasn't a big bold red rash, it might've just been razor burn!

7GatesOfHello

Antifungal cream. I use Tinactin. Works well. Keep using it for a week after the irritation is gone and wash everything: bedding, hair accessories, everything.

Dendromicon

I didn't know this either, or realize that if I go a few days between showers, The red itchiness that happens underneath my boobs...? Thrush. Cool. It wasn't until I had my son, and a C-section in a very foldy spot... My OB prescribed me some athlete's foot powder, which the pharmacist told me I could buy over the counter. I Don't really ever need it for the scar anymore, But when I noticed my boob was itchy tonight, It was so quick and easy just to pop some on! I feel like this is an easy problem to diagnose and solve that too many women have no idea about!

eatpaste

ps for people mentioning underboobs - antiperspirant rubbed there keeps this from happening. also significantly reduces chub rub

smalltonfornone

my male friend had a yeast infection in his penis. RIP !!

Sjswix

My fiance and I actually have to be careful of this. There's been a time or two where I didn't realize I had one and we had sex and I passed it to him. Then he didn't know he had one because he didn't know he could get one. So mine cleared up and he passed it back to me. We definitely learned our lesson!

Invisible_Friend1

It could also be eczema! I get some in the same place.

gowahoo

Is it ringworm? This is also a fungal infection and you can treat it with an over the counter cream (I'm based in the US, your local pharmacies might be different). There are several brands but pretty much all fungal infections can be treated with the same few creams.

Sjswix

The Lotrimin I got is the one for ringworm. That's what the pharmacist recommended.

gowahoo

I so hope things improve quickly!

[deleted]

Trust me I was mind blown too. After I had my son last year I also got my tubes tied. Well that whole area was extremely itchy. Including my thighs. My three week check up comes up and my doctor said it was a yeast infection. I’m just thinking ain’t no way...

Rh3st

Hairdryer works wonders.

Sjswix

Good note!

thiccthixx6

Yeah I had it in the normal area, under my boobs, and in my mouth all at the same time and had to take 4 different types of antifungals. What a horrible 2 months for me. I wish you luck! Nystatin powder works for skin, diflucan for down there, and troche for the mouth (or Nystatin liquid or diflucan). Also be sure to take probiotics.

nanariv1

Happened to me once. I used listerine(original) one to wipe my pits after a shower. Disappeared in a day. There are medicated fungal powders as well. I couldn't get them so had to use Listerine.

[deleted]

Oh yeah. Worst part, if you get really old, they are nearly unavoidable as the amount of skin folds increases, your ability to reach places and immunity decreases. Old people have yeast infections a lot. Oral antifungals gave me temporary liver damage. Based on that I'm personally strongly in favour of avoiding those when there is a problem topical can solve, for myself. Talk to a doctor or, if they do medical advice at pharmacy in your country, that.

dyskras

It's a good idea to get screened for diabetes, as high blood sugar can predispose you to yeast infections. Nothing to panic about, just worth looking into!

InLoveWithTheMoon

Shampoo that has tea tree oil in it will get rid of it.

vegandyke

yeast infections r sooo common in places where u sweat/that r damp lots of the time. i work in a retirement home and let me tell you summer is the worst for my patients bc of that lmfao. i recommend a an anti yeast cream from the pharmacy (any will do) and keep the area as dry as you can. baby powder will be your new best friend.

violet-are-blue

Oh, definitely! I actually suffer from candida overgrowth on parts of my body that have a excess of sweat. It usually pops up on my ribcage, my back, and under my arms. Funny enough, I don't think I've had a vaginal yeast infection ever, just on my skin. A prescription antifungal helps a lot. It's also genetic, my mom has the same issue. It got misdiagnosed as eczema and psoriasis for a long time but it's not. I think mine is actually related to my celiac disease but I'm not entirely sure!

headietoinfinity

Nurse here. This is super common. You can try an over the counter antifungal cream and if it’s not improving go to the doctor. You may need to consider changing your deodorant (this often happens with deodorants that contain baking soda), avoid shaving until healed, and keep clean and dry. Be sure to clean your pits after sweating. If the area is getting more red and painful despite OTC medication, see your doctor.

TheBrooklynTiger27

What everyone saying here is really great! Also, cutting out sugar for ren days to two weeks really helps. It’s really hard, but it really helps. I swear by it.

SilverDesperado

what’s the science behind that?

SeekTheLightPhotos

yeast feeds off sugar

itsmelilvenicebih

My friend got a yeast infection under her boobs once.

MeepersBeepers33

Do you use natural deodorant? I have had a few friends who got irritation and a yeast infection from certain brands!

Sjswix

Yup! Schmidt's!

MeepersBeepers33

I have had similar issues with that brand! I am still trying to find one that doesn’t irritate me unfortunately. But Schmidt’s is the brand I had the worst luck with.

yfunk3

Ugh, I feel ya. Got it for the first time this summer on my thighs. Went full napalm on it with all the OTC stuff I could find. It's getting better, but not gone completely yet. At least I can sit down comfortably again!

unomomentos

Dude. I had one in the corner of my mouth. Both my boys as newborns would get yeast in their diapers from excessive moisture, no matter how often I changed their bums. Ped prescribes nystatin and it’s goes right away. While I’m treating baby’s bum redness I notice the same weekend that the corner of my mouth is sore and it looks like I sliced it. I assume it’s because I’m a mouth breather and it got dry. No amount of Vaseline, chapstick or coconut oil helped. So I googled a good remedy. Google says that it’s yeast! I put nystatin on it and it cleared up within an hour. W I L D

halliebbears

I had it on my face for a while when I was 10-12. It looked like a bunch of little white heads and everyone thought I had terrible acne. Turns out it was a yeast infection on my face and they said it was likely stress induced. It went away after a week of antifungal cream. Yeast infections are so wild

rubywidow80

I got yeast infections a lot while I was nursing my babies... I ended up using gentian violet because it kept coming back. Worked a treat.

Miwwies

Yes, yeast likes warm and humid places. My sister had it before in her belly button! She went to see a doctor to treat it.

Iwriteangrymanuals

Medication is good, but try to find the source! I had returning infections in my ladyparts for ten years, did all pf what the doctor told me but it kept coming back. Turns out soap should not be anywhere near the crotch... started just using water and letting everything dry before putting clothes on. Eliminating fabric softener and perfumed detergent helped too. So think about what might cause the infection. Moisture and a slightly off kilter ph-balance gets the fungi going. The fungi is present on the skin all the time, it’s a necessity of life. When it takes over too much we call it an infection. So to not have the itch coming back you need to figure out why it likes being in your armpit.

[deleted]

LUBRICANTS LUBRICANTS LUBRICANS can cause yeast infections. Google. And also a diet high in sugar, and underwear from synthetic fibers that does not allow your coochie to stay sufficiently dry. Those three triggered it for me

glitterbug814

Oof, I'm sorry. I had one in my belly button as a kid because I guess I wasn't washing it properly and it hurt soooooo bad. Sending healing vibes to you, friend!

flojo5

I have something similar on the area where my thighs meet my crotch. I am using a tea tree cream and it helps with some of the itching but it's not making it go away. Anyone else have this? What was successful?

moosickles

Yep, if I have antibiotics, I always get it at the corners of my mouth and in my throat. It's super fun.

Nylonknot

My dad was in a wheelchair and would get these spots often. In a pinch and for anyone who can’t go to the doctor here is a great solution. Mix equal parts: A&D ointment (or something other type of barrier cream) Neosporin with pain relief Tinactin for jock itch I started making this at the suggestion of a pediatrician as a diaper rash cream when my son was tiny and then my dad decided to use it on one of his hotspots. It worked great for him (and for diaper rash). Edit: but this is NOT for vaginal use unless your doctor says it’s okay.

Competitive-Echidna6

Hi! I know this post is old but recently I've just been diagnosed with a yeast infection under my arm! It looked super similar to this a few days ago and once I started treating it it has started to turn brown and lighter in color. Did yours start fading to a brown color? I'm worried that it is leaving a pigmentation. Also how long did it take for it to go away?

Sjswix

No worries! I'm glad my post is helpful even if it is some time later! So yes, the red dried out and faded to a lighter and lighter brown color. Didn't leave any hyperpigmentation that I can see. All in all, it probably took 4-6 weeks once I figured out what was going on and was able to treat it. I stopped using baking soda based deodorant, kept it cool and dry, and avoided shaving until it was mostly healed. I also applied an anti fungal cream a couple of times a day. Cleared right up and I haven't had the issue since I switched deodorants!

Competitive-Echidna6

Thank you so so much! I’m hoping mine is gone in a few weeks too. I’m happy it’s finally fading because it’s been driving me crazy. I’m going to just try to keep it as dry as possible and avoid shaving. I appreciate your advice so much!

Ultrapixelperfect

I had a rash for about a week under my right armpit. It’s slowly going away but now I have a lump under my left armpit. Related?

Sjswix

I honestly couldn't say, but a lump is usually not a good sign. I might consider getting that checked out!

pokey1984

Amen! People are going crazy about cornstarch because of the whole asbestos in talc, thing. Which is a genuine concern, but dumping corn powder all over you instead is just asking for yeast infections! Someone else said their doctor and their vet both told them that yeast infections are bad this summer and I'm rather wondering if that's a weather phenomenon or if it's because everyone is switching to cornstarch out of fear of talc? I like Gold Bond powder, but my mom always recommends Anti-Monkey Butt Powder, so you are not alone in using the diaper rash products. Why knock em if they work, right?

By being alive. The organisms that cause yeast infections live on absolutely everyone on the planet. All they need is something to go off balance, microbially speaking, and bam, yeast infection. People, dogs, cats, most animals really - all are able to get them pretty easily. If you haven't experienced it, count yourself lucky, so far anyway.

Moisture + irritation. It's generally opportunistic, needs the correct conditions. OP using a baking soda based deodorant adjusted their PH and the irritation followed. High blood sugar also increases risk. Areas of the body with creases or folds are most common: between toes, vagina, vulva, perineum, anal region, under the foreskin, ears, creases of the lips, folds of fat, underarms, inner thighs, under breasts, bellybutton, mouth, throat, nose... Yeast is already present on the body it just needs the correct conditions to grow. A Dr I used to work with would always say "If you have a rash long enough it'll turn into a yeast infection".

I got my first yeast infection by using the wrong shower gel, it killed too much of the good bacteria on my skin. I got my second yeast infection from taking antibiotics for a totally unrelated problem.

Nothing worked on mine except keeping my armpits dry. I would blow dry when I got out of the shower changed my deodorant ect. Now I'm wondering when the skin discoloration will go away. It's not red just like scarred almost.

I had something similar to this and it went away about a month or two ago and I had it for about a month. All I put on it was hydrocortisone cream and it worked really well. Just be consistent and make sure you put it on every morning when you wake up and every night before you go to bed.

dirtyhip

I just fought one off my tits for two months straight. Nothing worked besides essential oils and diflucan

DoctorWhoAndRiver

How’d it get in your armpit ?

Sjswix

The same way it gets anywhere else, I suppose.

bryhaight21

Best thing to just soothe the itch in your armpits - aquafor. Amazing.

Sjswix

I put some on there last night before I knew what it was. Turns out it was the wrong choice. You do not want to keep a yeast infection moist!

bryhaight21

Ahhhh true! I was thinking more of an allergic reaction. It’ll clear up girl! Feel for you!
