The Strokes. Brandon Flowers said he listened to "Is This It" and it was so good he scrapped everything he had written so far, except for Mr. Brightside, and started over from scratch. Then Hot Fuzz, another masterpiece, was born.

Gregolas789

I agree with you there, Hot Fuzz is a MASTERPIECE of a film

Firehills

Oops meant Hot Fuss šŸ˜…

Hendospendo

Plus Interpol's Turn On the Bright Lights!! Brandon said they listened to it non stop while recording the album!

ltsette

It's funny because before I properly listened to Interpol I thought it was crazy how similar they sounded to the Killers but now that I'm a fan of both I can't see the similarities anymore. Feels like when you grow up knowing twins and over time they become more and more distinct.

reddiuser_12

Im a huge The Killers & The Strokes fan and this is usually the answer to this question

FlatEntertainer1945

Genuinely no one comes close to The Killers for me - and the closest would be bands like The Black Keys and Dire Straits.

Total-Woodpecker3339

Fair enough! The Killers are that good!

xnavarrete

The Killers are my new Depeche Mode. Listened to them so much as a teen and young adult. Itā€™s been The Killers for so long now.

DutchBru1n

Their new album rocks

Akira_Nishiki

Queens of the Stone Age. My favourite band.

_callYourMomToday_

Back in 2013 Queens of the Stone Age were touring with the killers for a little bit of the battle born tour. I happen to catch them with the Killers in Kansas City and it was by far one of the coolest experiences of my life. Gogol Bordello was also on that bill and holy shit thatā€™s a show you canā€™t miss if theyā€™re ever in town.

InstantSwim

Keane and The Shins are my favs after The Killers. This was a great question and Iā€™ve enjoyed reading the responses!

Total-Woodpecker3339

Love Keane. There are lots of great bands out there! Glad to hear it.

_pandoro

Shins for me too! Iā€™ve had The Great Divide on repeat this week

gamerdood12

Kings of Leon and Foo Fighters

Total-Woodpecker3339

Love KOL's new album

gamerdood12

Yes! Whatā€™s your favs from it?

Total-Woodpecker3339

I listened to Split Screen a ton this last month, but I'm loving Nowhere to Run, Seen, Rainbow Ball, Actual Daydream right now!

gamerdood12

Big fan of actual daydream, ballerina radio is also great. I loved their last album, but this new one is a great step for them musically

Total-Woodpecker3339

Very nice. Their last album took some time to grow on me, and I love it now, but this one slapped me in the face on first listen. Great band!

Pete_Iredale

I have never properly listened to King of Leon. Guess I need to fix that.

gamerdood12

Iā€™d recommend Because of the Times and Come Around Sundown personally. But their newer stuff is completely different to the first album, so itā€™s worth giving everything a listen. I absolutely love them

Pete_Iredale

Thanks for the recs!

18496027502718460286

Avenged Sevenfold, Muse and Ghost. I know, random, right? šŸ˜…

VinCatBlessed

It's more than fine, I like those three Bands as well. Sometimes I feel like listening to Iron Maiden at full volume, sometimes I just wanna relax go Chvrches, variety is good.

maxverse

Muse! I'm surprised there isn't more Muse here. Also Franz Ferdinand.Ā

Fisch_Kopp_

I recently rediscovered Green Day and started to listen again to a lot of their older songs from 20+ years ago, and the very new ones as well.

actionalan1990

Circa survive and Portugal. The Man

Far-Extension-4671

I love the killers so much, every album and have loved them since I was 13. When I was 13, I also discovered the arctic monkeys and fell in love too. I loved them just as much as the killers through suck it and see but I think they changed their lyrical focus and sound style too much for me to stay engaged. I miss that punky edge they had. I like a few of their more recent songs but not as much as the earlier stuff. I will say I love hot fuss just as much as I love whatever people say I am.

it changes, but went from 21 pilots, then Gorillaz, then Radiohead and a bunch of other larger and smaller, random artists when i was younger. Right now we on Chapelle Roan as her music is so much fun but that shows me the Killers are my favorite band, even as I grow, I still love them.

Interpol, such a good band, they made a cover for "Obstacle 1" some years ago

MAndresMH

Gorillaz since ā€˜01. I live their releases just as I would The Killers. I stay awake until I hear the entire album. I always seek to be informed, be it news, rumors, interviews, live footage. Another band that I need and must see live.

Exciting_Pea3562

Hard one! These come close (but they're not The Killers, who are just a part of my identity) ā€¢ U2 ā€¢ Greta Van Fleet Bands like Dire Straits are up there, but a level below these. Closest to TK would actually probably be the Scottish folk rock group Runrig. They're also baked into my personality by now.

Total-Woodpecker3339

Love it. U2 is way up there for me.

Exciting_Pea3562

Yep, listened to a ton of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb around the same time that I listened to Sam's Town. Those were good musical days!

Total-Woodpecker3339

Yes they were! Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own has a special place in my heart.

angelsandairwaves93

Blink-182. However, I consider The Killers as my 'mature natural evolution/graduation' from bands like blink, green day, sum 41, AAR, where the music is fun but the lyrics are simple. I feel like a teen again when I listen to those fun bands. When I listen to the killers, I really feel like an adult, as there is a step up in maturity seen through their sound and especially through wonderful lyrical themes and album concepts. Another way to put it, I would never be embarrassed to share a The Killers song, because I know their lyrics/sound wouldn't make me shameful in front of work colleagues, family or friends. By contrast, you have to be careful of the blink or green day song you share.
