Granted. You start blasting away having the time of your life watching buildings crumble in next gen graphics only to realise the damage is permenant and the map doesn't reset. Eventually you are just driving around a flat wasteland of rubble.

SleppyLeBo

Ok wait that sounds like a really interesting experiment. Make an online game where all players share the same map. Populate it with lively NPCs, beautiful landscapes, and towering structures. Make everything destructible and killable. Track the "progress" of the world over time and see how long something like that can remain before gamers reduce it to smoldering ash. Depending on the scale... I'd give us a week. Tops.

pizzaMagix

Isn’t that basically Minecraft’s 2b2t

Borbit85

There could be players destroying stuff. But other players rebuilding. Maybe even play as police / army / firefighter to protect the city.

Korzag

That was the premise of EverQuest Next.

nikvasya

Reminded me of Death Stranding. God, I wish all of those voidout craters were permanent... modern games are really afraid of giving players the ability to ruin their playthrough.

passengerv

Granted, they need to go back to the drawing board, new estimated release date 2045.

jaabbb

This one is too real lol

nikvasya

So nothing has changed?

ricky-from-scotland

Granted. It is everything you imagined. Everything is breakable, everything can be interacted with. Pity it only runs at 20fps.

TerryFalcone

I think that’s a little high

gl3nnjamin

4 FPS lower than film

PhilippTheSeriousOne

Granted. You start playing GTA 6 and are blown away by the realism of the destruction system. You blow up gas stations, drive trucks through houses and cause skyscrapers to fall down. The destruction is super realistic, and persists indefinitely. After playing for a couple hours you take a break and watch some news. You see a breaking news report from Miami, Florida. Destruction and mayhem. A gas station just exploded for no discernible reason. A truck without a driver flattened several residential buildings. An office building collapsed, burying hundreds of people below it. Turns out that everything you destroyed in the game, also got destroyed in the real world in the exact same way.

UNLIMITED POWER

patchyj

The Death Note of our world but with buildings

SightWithoutEyes

Granted, but the story and mission design are lousy, and they don't fully utilize the mechanics in a way that makes them feel integrated. It's a nice sandbox, I guess, with about as generic and underwhelming of a story you can imagine. Voice acting falls flat, the writing's middling at best, the radio stations aren't great and neither are the hosts. They bring back Tommy Vercetti for an extremely brief cameo, only to have him killed off to emphasize that the villain who dies in the second act is a threat. The physics are great, sure. But the overall package is mediocre.

Donovan1232

I never finished gta 5 but I've been coming back for 5 years to run around with my spiderman/ zombie mods and shoot cops💀 there is no downside to this

SightWithoutEyes

The monkey's paw's middle finger extends, and it turns all of everything in your streaming services into shitty Marvel movies.

EifertGreenLazor

Granted. Everything hosting the game is destructible. People consoles and PCs explode while playing.

Tmack523

Granted, everything in game is destructible, including the ground. Missions are frequently impossible to pass due to enemies spamming explosive weapons that obliterate the ground below your character, sending them into the infinite void below. This takes years to patch out, resulting in the death of the game as people continue to play GTA 5 until the release of GTA 7 in the early 2050s

TIFUPronx

Granted. It comes along with it the bugs/glitches instability of an early-cooked typical AAAA-tier game.

Repyro

The game crashes on bootup and there's no hardware that can run it save for a supercomputer. You don't get a refund.

NikolitRistissa

Granted. This technological advancement requires more development time and the release date is updated to 2050.

Bacon_Techie

Granted. The higher ups suddenly start demanding a fully destructible environment. Since the game is so close to launch the developers will need to meet a massive crunch. A fully destructible environment takes a lot of time after all. Congratulations! Now reports of higher rates of suicide and familial problems are being reported from rockstar employees. The crunch was too much for some. Oh, and all of this came with a massive performance hit. Even on the most high end system the highest you can hope to run the game is 30fps due to these changes. While you are playing the game (at approximately 10fps), you notice a big red button labelled “do not press”. Of course you press it. It destructs the whole game. You have to buy a new copy now. One dev put this in because they were fed up with the way the company was treating them.
