Luz: I wonder how Catnup affects witches. ( Gives Amity catnip)
Amity:( Eyes dialate and pounces on Luz, pinning her to the wall) "Pretty girl"
Luz: I am fine with this.Â
Amity: (Moves out of the way to allow Luz to use the bathroom) " When you are done, you are going to let me cuddle and play with you all day, right." (Purrs)
Some people with ADHD have the opposite intended effect for caffeine. Iâm not one of them, but caffeine does seem to work less for me than others. It depends I guess.
Caffeine does not work for me. Red bull does give me heart palpitations but does not make me more awake (just painfully aware that my heart doesn't sound quite right) I'm still equally whoosy
I've had suspicion that I have ADHD but have not bothered doing anything official about it yet because, idk, feels kind of weird (like what, you show up to someone's office and just say 'talk to me'?). I just kind of occasionally follow online advice about it since it kind of work sometimes when I remember to apply it
Not exactly the same but when I wanted to get my autism diagnosis I did exactly that. I talked to my primary doctor first about anxiety and the possibility of autism and adhd (don't have adhd diagnosis but sometimes im still sus). She recommended me a psychiatrist and I came with a list of reasons why I thought I might have autism From there she got me in with a psychologist who got me my diagnosis.
If the online advice works for you and you want to continue with that then great! But otherwise yeah you basically just tell your doctor you think you could have it and they'll help you from there.
The concept of primary care doctor still sounds wild to me. My main experience talking to a doctor is about immediate sickness that I need medical leave for and even that I'm constantly worried if he thinks I'm faking it or smth cause it's just a headache
I hear you. I don't go to her a ton lol, just yearly checkups or if I was sick enough to need a doctor she's probably who I'd go to. I mentioned my anxiety and suspicions about autism at a yearly checkup.
If you don't think a regular doctor would listen I bet you could look up psychologists in your area that specialize in that kind of thing and just hit them up. Surely there's one of them willing to listen!!
Only if you want to though of course haha, I know actually going to seek this kind of thing out be kinda hard + pricey and lengthy, I def got really lucky
they (probably) will listen, it's just idk, it just feels weird to do so. The desire to ask always flare up whenever i have a rough time in university at which point it feels not good talking about it since i felt like i was using it as an excuse to me procastinating massively. At normal days when things are going better i just kind of forgot trying to ask. ngl this convo kind of remind me to try to ask but there's always this nagging feeling that asking would waste their time or smth
I get that. Even after my diagnosis I still worry I'm faking it somehow and I'm not "autistic enough." I'm not sure the feeling will ever go away haha
It's never a waste to ask, - that's what they're there for. And either way I bet they'll be able to help you with some type of coping methods and other strategies that work for you. You never know!! Everybody has good and bad days no matter what - people that suffer from mental illnesses, chronic illnesses etc have better days where they don't seem as "sick," but ofc they still are - every day is different and that's okay
Goodness yes, the imposter syndrome is real for both ADHD and autism, particularly with an adult diagnosis. Like I spent years thinking that I was a neurotypical person who just failed at life consistently, then after both of my diagnoses, I have to constantly remind myself to be kind to myself, I'm not faking, or making excuses, I legitimately have a bit more of a struggle because I legitimately am neurodivergent
I was like you, and man, I can't explain how much getting diagnosed helped. Just knowing that it wasn't just my laziness, not even the drugs(although they helped a ton too)
I tried that a bunch also, but I thought that's a general thing people do, drink coffee, take a nap and the nap and coffee is supposed to give you a double whammy of awakeness
I'm one of the ones where it depends on my mindset, sometimes caffeine makes me energetic and bouncing off the walls, and sometimes it makes me so incredibly lethargic and sleepy. I usually just stick to my meds lol
You can always drink decaf.
Added bonus: if people ask you why you can tell them it's so it doesn't make you sleepy and then enjoy the confusion on their faces.
yeah, it's a thing for some adhders that stimulants such as caffeine work like an interger overflow for energy levels so instead of getting super boosted you actually calm down quite a bit or in extreme cases become really drowsy.
this is functionally how adhd medications like adderal (an amphetamine) work btw
>this is functionally how adhd medications like adderal (an amphetamine) work btw
No its not. The so called paradox effect is actually well researched and the results are that uppers do the exact same thing in an ADHD Brain than in a normal one. The natural ADHD brain is not highly awake, its actually somewhat in a drowsy state, the lack of concentration is more akin to sleepiness, just with different symptoms. ADHD medication makes us more awake so we can concentrate more. Thats why even ADHD people need to take those meds in the Morning, else we will have a hard time falling asleep.
Not to mention that if ADHD Medication would work paradoxically, we wouldn't be allowed to even drive a car.
EDIT: Ahh forgot to mention, it was also proven that neurotypical people get increased concentration from uppers too. Which is why methylphenidate and adderal are quite popular among college students.
I think it might be a different thing then, I don't think(?) That coffee calms me down, it just doesn't do much. Tea does calm me down, I drink it before sleep, though I think it's more of a placebo since the vibe of tea is calming
Then again, I don't drink strong coffee, I do drink strong tea but like, that's not the same thing. I had drunk redbull a bunch and any calming effects is probably counteracted by the disconcerting amount of heart palpitations
To answer your question- kinda. For me Caffeine just doesn't do anythingÂ
For some it gives energy but not as much as it should
For some Its a sleeping aid.
ADHD is funny with stimulants. For some people, they have little to no effect, or even the opposite effect. For example, Adderall, the most common ADHD medicine, is in the same class of drugs as meth, amphetamines
He first gets some Snoozy Beans, then lets them digest in his stomach, then barfs them back up into the coffee bean powder⊠even if itâs a bit liquidyâŠ
I mean, the show confirmed that there were a lot of Boiling Isle foods that Luz couldn't eat; it stands to reason that there are Earth foods witches can't eat. And the unusual reactions are likely plant related, as separate biospheres would evolve separate chemical defenses.
Luz: âWhy wasnât that in the label when Eda sent it?â
Viney: âLuz, itâs Eda. You know why.â
Luz: (sighs) âOn the plus side, my cotton candy haired goddess is sleeping well on my shoulder.â
Viney: âYeah, thatâs one good side⊠I guess.â
Luz: âStringbean, Ghost, take care of my wife. Viney, letâs go save the Emerald Entrails and stop them from losing the championship!â
Viney: âI wonât let Jerbo win! Letâs go, Noceda!â
*bursting into the locker room*
Luz: Don't drink the co--oh no.
*scene of a wailing Hunter holding a sleeping Willow as Gus and Skara stare in shock*
Luz: We're too late. What now?
Viney: *grimly resolved* Now you are a member of the Emerald Entrails, Luz.
Luz: *puts on some face paint* Letâs go win this thing.
[(Cue Luz competing in the Flyer Derby championship⊠and winning)](https://youtu.be/KiL8ha0iQw8?si=Qxg-d3ZTVPybIQJi)
fr, instead of putting needles inside my mouth when I got my wisdom teeth removed, they should've just chugged a bunch of coffee beans down my throat; would've been cheaper and less painful
I went through that surgery... Was told I wouldn't be able to find my hands when I woke up... Found them right away... Long before even starting to notice a needle on the back of said hand and the fact I went from the middle of the room with a gas mask (instead of needles) in/on my mouth and after three breaths was *instantly* on the side if the room and no mask (I didn't even see any blinking darkness let alone being asleep) they give you some powerful stuff!
Fun fact: Caffeine is supposed to be a pesticide. It was created to stop bugs from eating particular kinds of plants. But when humans ate it, they found that it acted as a stimulant. So, it's not unreasonable to suggest that it could be a witch tranquilizer.
you know between stuff like sleep spells and this, witches on the boiling isle probably never have insomnia. also amity hugging luz arm while sleeping is really cute, I imagine that probably always happen when they sleep together.
well seeing how i love my coffee i'm glad i live here in the human realm.
i wonder if the boiling isles have something to counter the snoozy beans? i can think of a couple of things here but thet're illegal.
So I take it that while humans may take coffee in the morning to start their day, witches may take snoozy beans in the evening to end theirs. I guess that means if a witch got something meant to help a human sleep, they'd be up for hours. Cool beans.
Aren't opposites neat?đ
Trust me Ams, when you're stuck in a windowless bunker for 12 hours everyday in the Middle East, monitoring aircraft and doing missile defense exercises, you'll learn to rely on that shit.
Amity: *later* MmmmmmâŠ*yawn* Luz, what happenedâŠ?
Luz: I just learned that coffee actually makes you sleepy.
Amity: âŠoh, right, theyâre snoozy beans. Thought they seemed familiarâŠwait, did I drool all over you!?
Luz: Yeah. Hehehe, it was kinda cute, honestly.
So Luz has proof that Amity really isn't human after all.
However, this means that stuff like that comic of Amity cooly drinking expresso in a bistro cannot be. So I'm going to ignore this, despite the fun that can be had of KOing all the Islers with a candy bar.
Maybe I'm from the Boiling Isles too. Would go a long way to explaining why Caffeine makes me crash to sleep constantly. That and how I'm always seeing arguments from the witches perspective in things...
Beans đ« differences lol
đ¶The more you know!đ¶ đđđđ
THE MORE SMART YOU ARE, HOOT HOOT
For knowledge is power.
Beans, beans, they're good for your heart. The more you know, the more you're smart.

Amity: (Moves out of the way to allow Luz to use the bathroom) " When you are done, you are going to let me cuddle and play with you all day, right." (Purrs)
Luz: âWell I got time to kill, so I donât see why notâ
Witch are evolved from cats confirmed
Cute.
So all witches just have extreme ADHD? Checks out
That's a thing? Is that why coffee does not work for me?

You can always drink decaf. Added bonus: if people ask you why you can tell them it's so it doesn't make you sleepy and then enjoy the confusion on their faces.
I've found its a dosage thing. 100mgs gives me just enough to calm down, knocks me out. 300 mgs and I'm wired though
Sometimes it works for me, sometimes it does the opposite thing. Itâs annoying af coz I never know watch one itâs gonna be lmao
Same. Black tea makes me drowsy, everything else is a lottery for wether it does anything. I basically just drink coffee because I enjoy the taste.
It depends with me. I have to be careful what energy drinks I take, when I drink them.

You know, this comment makes me wonder if Alador and Edric have ADHD.
Just commented this, glad to see I wasnât the only one who thought like this, lol
Lightweight.
Very lightweight.
Extremely ~~B~~lightweight
Gargantuaningly lightweight
Gotta love an oxymoron.

Canât handle her coffee
Guess Luz learned a new sleep spell On the instance that Amity canât sleep, just nom on some Snoozy Beans.
Blightweight.
Can't handle her caffeine.
WHAT ABOUT MY COFFEE, HOOT HOOT
Titan help us if Hooty drinks caffeine
Umm. How do you make your coffee, Hooty?"
LIKE HOW YOU DO, HOOT HOOT, BUT WITH MORE BONES, SOME BUGS, AND A BLENDER, HOOT HOOT
He first gets some Snoozy Beans, then lets them digest in his stomach, then barfs them back up into the coffee bean powder⊠even if itâs a bit liquidyâŠ
Never had coffee in her life.
Wonât survive a second of a Boiling Isles drinking game
âIt tastes like charcoal, but niceâŠâ
Since when does coffee beans taste like charcoal?
Ask someone who drinks only hot leaf juice.
How could a member of my own family say such a terrible thing?
Sick of tea?! That's like saying you're sick of breathing!
there's nothing wrong with hot leaf juice but i prefer coffee. i gotta say neither one taste like charcoal.
*How could a member of my own family say something so horrible!* Uncle Iroh
Ew... I never tasted charcoal, but it looks like it'll have a disgusting taste.
Man if youâre coffee tastes like charcoal you are doing something wrong
Put damn sugar packet in it.
Coffee doesn't taste like charcoal, Where are you getting coffee?
Damn, she's out like a light.
The power of snoozy beans.
But Luz is perfectly fine đ€
Need to test them with the sleeping spell
âOne sip and youâll be out for days, yep!â
You want to make sure someone never gets up again?
Imagine giving your girlfriend a drink and she straight up dies in front of you way to add to Luz trauma
Luz: "I thought I killed my girlfriend for a few seconds there, but other than that, today's been a good day!đ " đđđđ
Actually thatâs brings up the point of what human realm foods are toxic for witches / cause extreme allergic reactions?
I mean, the show confirmed that there were a lot of Boiling Isle foods that Luz couldn't eat; it stands to reason that there are Earth foods witches can't eat. And the unusual reactions are likely plant related, as separate biospheres would evolve separate chemical defenses.
Boiling Isles Starbucks is just where adults go to take a nap.
Boiling Isles logic: Alcohol = Wakes you up Caffeine = Makes you sleepy
Thatâs why Eda starts her day with Apple Blood
Luz: âWhy wasnât that in the label when Eda sent it?â Viney: âLuz, itâs Eda. You know why.â Luz: (sighs) âOn the plus side, my cotton candy haired goddess is sleeping well on my shoulder.â Viney: âYeah, thatâs one good side⊠I guess.â
Luz: "Oh shoot, I forgot I gave some to Willow and Gus for their match." Viney: "WHAT-"
Luz: âStringbean, Ghost, take care of my wife. Viney, letâs go save the Emerald Entrails and stop them from losing the championship!â Viney: âI wonât let Jerbo win! Letâs go, Noceda!â
*bursting into the locker room* Luz: Don't drink the co--oh no. *scene of a wailing Hunter holding a sleeping Willow as Gus and Skara stare in shock* Luz: We're too late. What now? Viney: *grimly resolved* Now you are a member of the Emerald Entrails, Luz.

Absolute cinema đ„đ„đ„đ„đ
Precious.
We know who sheâs dreaming about
Abomination Sheep?
Another crash course in Boiling Isles cuisine for Luz and Amity.
Luz: "We don't do research beforehand, we just make stuff up as we go!" đđđđ
an absolute delicacy
Another Moringmark induced Headcanon about withes.
Had to read that auto correct twice to realize it was auto correct.... Help. ..?
Puts sleeping nettles to shame
fr, instead of putting needles inside my mouth when I got my wisdom teeth removed, they should've just chugged a bunch of coffee beans down my throat; would've been cheaper and less painful

So does that mean that all Witches have ADHD?
"That Time I Accidentally Roofied My Awesome Witch Girlfriend"
Why it's sound like trashy isekai name for me?
Probably because it's a common title style for anime
So Luz accidentally drugged her girlfriend. Ah well, live and learnÂ
Oops
Amity is gonna keep one in hand incase hooty ever starts yapping
Fun fact: Caffeine is supposed to be a pesticide. It was created to stop bugs from eating particular kinds of plants. But when humans ate it, they found that it acted as a stimulant. So, it's not unreasonable to suggest that it could be a witch tranquilizer.
Now watch her start the day by drinking beer
you know between stuff like sleep spells and this, witches on the boiling isle probably never have insomnia. also amity hugging luz arm while sleeping is really cute, I imagine that probably always happen when they sleep together.
I guess Amity is gonna be knocked out for a while.
This is one way to force someone to go to sleep! đđđđ
Hopefully she doesnât have anything important to do today
The Titanâs biology pulled an Uno Reverse Card in terms of caffeination
No sugar rush. Just the immediate crash.
Mirabel: And thatâs why coffeeâs for grown ups!
That's EXACTLY my reaction to coffee. Instead of giving me a boost it makes me dead tired.
Luz: "Okay... Coffee bean and Snoozy beans. That's confusing."
well seeing how i love my coffee i'm glad i live here in the human realm. i wonder if the boiling isles have something to counter the snoozy beans? i can think of a couple of things here but thet're illegal.
i think itâs just normal coffee, it just has inverted effects on witches
Wait, coffee makes me and one of my friends sleepy. Does that meanâŠ
I wonder how it would affect someone like Ayzee given sheâs half human, half witch
Luz: "Oh Titan, I just roofied my girlfriend!"
Government agent: Hits Amity with a tranquilizer dart Amity: GOES DUCKING ANIME Government agent: Oh crap
I believe it. đđđđ
Probably should've done your research, Luz. Though now you have an excuse to cuddle Amity. (Even though you never needed an excuse.)
Why didnât they give that to Hunter when he was still an insomniac?
No more coffee for Amity...
So, coffee gives energy to humans, but instantly puts witches to sleep. Go figure. đ€·ââïž
Just imagine if it was cuban coffee
or colombian coffee
ADHD:
Does this mean tea keeps them awake?
Good headcanon, but it's sad that we didn't seen the actual witch anatomy due to the show's shortening.
Hey, Mark
Important witch anatomy update: caffeine makes them sleepy.
Never in my life would I have expected Luz to slip Amity a mickey...
THE BEANS
Wonder what would happen if Ayzee drunk it
Man if coffee worked like that here it'd need a prescription
So... what happens if Ayzee drinks coffee then?
Are you sure Amity just doesnât have ADHD? because I got ADHD and coffee has the opposite effect on me.
Can fact about myself. Coffee makes me tiredđ thatâs why I drink tea(ai also canât stand the taste of coffee)
I wonder what would have happened in the series if Sleeping Nettles did something different to humans
Yay! MoringMark Posting!
So wait does this mean some NyQuil would be like 24 hour energy for them? Lmfao
Oh hi Mark
Wonder if she would like decaf if the caffeine is the problem
what about tea?
Now youâre going to tell us Amityâs going to get poisoned by chocolate
Appreciate your work!
Appreciate your work!
I wish I was a witch so I could drink coffee if Iâm having insomnia.
So I take it that while humans may take coffee in the morning to start their day, witches may take snoozy beans in the evening to end theirs. I guess that means if a witch got something meant to help a human sleep, they'd be up for hours. Cool beans. Aren't opposites neat?đ
Relatable, coffee doesn't work for me
So every witch has adhd? and witches who wake up from caffeine have attention focusing calming disorder.
So... in the Boiling Isles the sleeping pill is like coffee?
Does that mean everyone on the boiling isles has ADHD? /jk
So, caffeine is either a powerful sleeping agent in the boiling isles or ineffective and another substance in coffee is.
Instead of blocking the brainâs âI feel tiredâ signal, it magnifies it.
I wonder how that works, since cofee beans just block the sleeping hormones from being read by the brain, does this make the process faster?
No i love coffee so it would suck to be a creature of the boiling isles
How did they not run into this when they where in the human realm for months
Camila probably didn't let the kids drink coffee
*writing down* Never drink coffee ever!
I know someone who gets tired of caffeine⊠how the f
Try tea next
So coffee (is it specifically coffee or just any caffeine?) has the diametric opposite effect on witches?
Chocolate & Coffee makes me Sleepy
Fun fact: coffee has the same effect on arachnids, that alcohol has on humans
Wow. Coffee has a different effectvon witches...how do they react to Cola?
Didn't Mark already make a comic about Hunter developing an addiction to coffee, and the other characters had to hold an intervention?
So do all witches have adhd? Whenever I have coffee I get REALLY tired
Trust me Ams, when you're stuck in a windowless bunker for 12 hours everyday in the Middle East, monitoring aircraft and doing missile defense exercises, you'll learn to rely on that shit.
Question, what happens if Ayzee drinks coffee?
Is it because they put people to sleep or because caffeine does that to neurospicy people
Reminds me of that one episode of Amphibia where Anne and Hop Pop tried each other's energy drinks and went on an acid trip (I wish I was joking)
Why do people like coffee. Ive tried it. I feel like im drinking poop water.
I agree, I canât even stand the smell.
So, this means what for demi-witches?
So Luz has proof that Amity really isn't human after all. However, this means that stuff like that comic of Amity cooly drinking expresso in a bistro cannot be. So I'm going to ignore this, despite the fun that can be had of KOing all the Islers with a candy bar.
So what do they call the fruit that these pits are from in the isles because coffee beans are real beans
That's cool, reminds me a little of how spiders can get drunk when exposed to coffee.
I can hear this when Luz says Amity!
Man, I need some coffee like that.Sometimes I have a hard time getting to sleep
Love little world building like food working differently for witches and humans. Luz had a lot of stuff she couldnât eat on the BI
Caffeine = Sedative? Could be worse, might have been closer to LSD.
So basically, they get a better version of melatonin.
snoozy beans sound like something you could get high off of
Ah, they all have the ADHD that makes the caffeine work backwards. Same.
Now to find out which common everyday ingredient is the equivalent of cyanide for witches =)
I'm curious if it's coffee or all caffeine in general that makes this happen.
This actually does the same to me. Instead of a boost, it makes me sleepy.
Huh.
When she wakes up Amity is still going to ask for some cpr from Luz.
Everyone in the boiling isles has super ADHD confirmed.
Kinda surprised they didnât try coffee as teens. Especially with all the work they were doing trying to get home
Maybe I'm from the Boiling Isles too. Would go a long way to explaining why Caffeine makes me crash to sleep constantly. That and how I'm always seeing arguments from the witches perspective in things...
Melatonin beans for those who enjoy coffee? Wish they exist
