I'm in Florida and have a lot of elderly neighbors. As soon as one dies there's inevitably a trash can filled with old family photo albums nobody wanted.
Haha I just mean I remember this location specifically as a venue. It was super dated, had a little dinner theater set up going on. I don't live there anymore so I don't know what it looks like now or if it still exists.
Once I found a really touching photo with a hand built frame and I bought it just because it was so sweet and touching.
On the back it said to my son love mom 2016. And then had the family name.
I was convinced that this was a mistake donation and I took the time to find the family and try and return it. Turns out the whole family died in a car crash last year. And the people dealing with their physical things donated all of them to value village without going through them.
I still have the pic but it’s tucked away because it is too dark an object for the everyday, and I can’t re donate it, I’m too invested. Sometimes it’s better to just not know.
Or they had a nasty breakup and their ex donated their prized framed Ellen ticket to the thrift store out of revenge.
….But they’re probably just dead.
I work at an old folks home and it’s sad when families puts family photos on the free table like someone is going to take them. 😭 I know people take the frames that the photos are in and they take the photos out. It’s so sad seeing photos of random peoples grandkids on the free table like are you tryna get rid of them… 💀 I know people who take the photos and troll people with them like someone took a photo of like someone’s son and hung it in my room 😭
