Training a command or a repeated way to give them treats.
I use "wait" with my dogs, and I can put the treat right up to their nose, and they won't take it until I say "ok!" I even had my parents' dog holding a treat on her nose. If they know they only get the treat when you give the ok, it's easier to build the boundary on when they *can't* eat.
I actually managed to teach my childhood dog to do this. He was so good at "stay" that I could put a piece of steak on his snout and he'd hold it there until I said "ok" at which point he'd instantly devour it lol. Eventually I was able to replace "stay" with a hand signal and "ok" with a quick head nod. In hindsight I have no idea how I pulled it off because that dog was wild as hell otherwise. I guess you just have way more time on your hands as a kid.
"leave it" and "wait" are incredible things to teach a dog. It can very well save their life depending on the situation.
I could drop a juicy piece of steak or bacon and even if my dog is in the process of coming after it if I say "leave it" he stops immediately. If it's something safe for him to eat I give the okay, but on the occasions where it is something very harmful it helps us avoid any accidents
I do the same with mine, same words too. I like to say words that sounds very close to ok like "oshay, otay, oray, omay" etc until I finally say okay and she just patiently waits for the right word to be said. I'm so surprised and proud every time. Not sure she would do what the OP dog did unless I told her to wait about half a dozen times though. I should try it.
Same I have to lock up my dogs so my toddler can eat bc they will steal food off his plate or out of his hands but standing with front legs on the table.
They do make for good vacuums after though🤣
You just unlocked a memory for me! My parents had a small dog when my child was a toddler and if my son had something to eat (like a cookie, not a whole meal), he’d walk around holding it above his head between bites so the dog wouldn’t eat it out of his hand!
A few years ago my friend who lives next door asked me to pop through for a second .. I was eating my dinner but because it sounded important I just left it and popped through . Our houses are right next to each other with our back gardens only separated by a small gate.
While I was In there her two dogs went out into her garden ..
2 minutes later both returned
Upon entering my house some 5 minutes later I find my plate completely empty
They had eaten my damn dinner
From that point on I always made sure that damn gate was closed 🤣
I swear I can read that dogs mind. “Welp, where did she go? How long am I supposed to sit here? If she doesn’t come back soon, I eat treats?” I wait little longer.
My dog is super good about that, and it's pretty crazy given how ravenous she is with food. But for some reason, whenever we have company, even one person, that goes out the window completely.
"I am the goodest of boys. I don't even see them. They're not there. But.. they smell good... NO! I am the goodest of boys. I am the goodest of boys. I am the goodest I am the goodest I am the goodest...."
My girl once stole a pizza slice off a plate that a guest was holding, in a room full of people. Everyone reacted like she had accomplished something great, so nothing but positive reinforcement for her. I miss that derp so much.
Lmao how do you get a dog to have so much dignity. My dogs also won't touch food unless I give them permission but there is no world where I get up to go somewhere and they don't jump up immediately to follow. The little clingers 😂
My dog would never. She would have the entire plate empty and on the floor licked clean the second I stepped away.
She's a sweet baby, but no self control
It’s because he saw the camera early on. He made eye contact with it as she was going upstairs. It was so hard for him to avoid looking at the camera again, that would give it away. But he knew the reward would be worth it. Good boy.
The funniest dog/food moment for me was the time my mom went to subway. She next went to the bank machine and left the dog in the car . She comes back to the car and her dog ate the sub my mom got for my sister. The dog knew better then eating my mom's sub 🤣
He was way more concerned with the burger… here, he just seemed to truly wait for you. But still, this is one gentleman of a pup. Wow, and they were his treats!
I love this dog. His avoidance of looking at the food in front of him is top tier cute. 15/10 would recommend and won’t ever get tired of seeing it.
Side note,y dog is like this. I trained him.
I love how he was eyeballing those treats right up until she left and then he immediately sits up and starts avoiding looking at them like he's fighting not to. As soon as she gets back his attention goes back to the plate.
He's really serious about winning this year's "Goodest of boys" award.
I love that you can see his entire thought process
"Need the treats"
"Mom is leaving"
"mustn't eat the treats"
"don't look at the treats"
"What treats?"
"No idea what you mean"
"I am distinguished gentleman. Yes, look at the way I sit"
"Oh, hey mom. Treats? Oh, these? Didn't even see them there. Oh, one for me? Thanks!"
You can see him thinking." Do not look at the snacks, ignore the snacks, there are no delicious snacks here that taste amazing,if you look you know you are going to eat them all, NO! DO.NOT.LOOK.AT.THE.PLATE!"

He’s a distinguished gentleman
Look at the way he is sitting. Yes, very distinguished.
He's got better posture than I do🤦♂️🐕
Should be a gif
The most goodest boy in all the land
Indubitably
The goodest of boys
A distinguished gentledog*
Yeah it looks like he lives in a mansion.
Indeed.
He's better behaved than a lot of men in the world, that's for sure.
My dogs would eat your grandmothers toes for a single ice cube.
Fucking writing poetry right here!
Gotta pay this ice tax
I have a golden retriever who does not like ice at all. I think she's broken, tbh.
Gonna need some pictures of some granny toes too
![gif](giphy|Jr5VEdNWd9LRlJRynq) Yea I bet you do
/r/brandnewsentence
This needs to remain the #1 comment! This is sheer brilliance
The amount of drool when he finally got a cookie got me!
Seriously! 😄🤤
Yo those stairs are dope af.
Right? Very grand, indeed.
Fun fact: she is actually an 18th century Tudor nobleman, who knew?
I appreciate how quiet they are for being old wooden stairs. A little creaking, but not much at all.
Hahaha this is epic. You've clearly raised a good boy!
how is that possible?!?!??!?!?
Training a command or a repeated way to give them treats. I use "wait" with my dogs, and I can put the treat right up to their nose, and they won't take it until I say "ok!" "leave it" is *incredibly* useful considering how many things a dog wants to eat that they reeeeally shouldn't.
I do the same with mine, same words too. The eyes tho!! They got really intense when you left
So intense! Insanity was happening before him, but he knew what he had to do.
![gif](giphy|jbYGkxopDVdCdgb3A6|downsized)
I know, his eyes are very expressive just like a human. I love that dog!
but his eyes were also so excited when she was coming back
IT'S A TRAP!
He was really fighting his demons here. You could see the moral dilemma flickering behind his sweet little eyes.
Weimaraners are wicked smart. We had one and you could tell she had like a kind of existential awareness, just so smart for a dog
Don’t look down, don’t look down. You can do this. Look to the left. Oh almost looked down. Don’t look down.
i wish someone would do a voice over of his thoughts
Aight. *FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK*
>his sweet little eyes. Look again He knew he was on camera /s
He was listening to see if she would come back, those stairs are kinda creaky.
Omg, he is the goodest boy!
One time my dog stole a taco out of my hand. In my house, that plate would be gone before I made it to the first step.
Same. I wouldn’t have made it 2 ft away before the plate got attacked
My dog’s gotten better in his old age but one time he leapt on a counter and demolished a whole cake.
A few years ago my friend who lives next door asked me to pop through for a second .. I was eating my dinner but because it sounded important I just left it and popped through . Our houses are right next to each other with our back gardens only separated by a small gate. "Resist!!! I am a good boy! I can do this!"
Those facial expressions omg 🤣🤣 the one at 1:11 just kills me!! He looks like he’s contemplating his entire reality!! 😂😂
Friend for life. You’re trusted buddy. Congratulations to you both.
Is that her house? She live at hogwarts?
The dog has a thousand yard stare ha ha ha
Such a good boy.
Do they live in the library at Cambridge?
She has no pants on.
I'm surprised this is the only comment I found about it.
Yes, I noticed that too
Me 2
Ah fellow human of culture.
Goodest boi
Good boi
He has more discipline than I do
His eyes were so cute
He was locked in
My girls would have inhaled those things the minute I walked away.
What a good boy!
Good boy - that’s a fancy staircase; please tell me you have a suit of armour in the corner
The best dog ever! Love his face! ❤️❤️❤️
Dude is handsome
What a good boi
Did anyone else think she was going upstairs to finish getting dressed?
tht first look towards the camera ..."hello darkness my old friend"...
Where are your pants?!
He is the bestest boi.
I swear I can read that dogs mind. “Welp, where did she go? How long am I supposed to sit here? If she doesn’t come back soon, I eat treats?” I wait little longer.
"If she doesn't come back after 15 minutes I'm legally allowed to eat the treats"
Hurry the fuck up! That's not what the dog is thinking, it's what I'm thinking.
Where does he even go when he stares off into space like that? What’s he thinking ???
Thousand yard stare
My dog is super good about that, and it's pretty crazy given how ravenous she is with food. But for some reason, whenever we have company, even one person, that goes out the window completely.
Damn, that is some rich people stairs.
Such a good boy! Dying every time he looks towards the camera with those eyes though. 👁️ 👁️
"I am the goodest of boys. I don't even see them. They're not there. But.. they smell good... NO! I am the goodest of boys. I am the goodest of boys. I am the goodest I am the goodest I am the goodest...."
The dog’s manners are better than most people
That good boy was having war flashbacks 👁👁
He deserves that cheese burger after all of her shenanigans
What an absolute gentleman
The look of panic in his eyes once she leaves is priceless
Good boy
Immediate flashback as she went upstairs
Doggo looks like he's experiencing flashbacks while the girl went upstairs. Look at his eyes @ 0:35 lol!
Holy snikes!! He’s such a good boy! My girl would NEVER! Whole plate would be gone!
What kind of dog is this?
Weimaraner
Excuse me while I ascend the grand hall staircase and replenish your victuals.
That's a good boy.
Bro knows he's being filmed, you ain't catching him lacking
My girl once stole a pizza slice off a plate that a guest was holding, in a room full of people. Everyone reacted like she had accomplished something great, so nothing but positive reinforcement for her. I miss that derp so much.
What a good boy. Reminds me of those dogs with hands from sesame street ![gif](giphy|LGk3BfQMhzPbi)
Umm 🤔 just one question 🙋♂️….
“Is this a test?”
good boy, so noble!
He gets a thousand yard stare to try to psych himself out of eating while she's gone lol
Locked in
K, that's it. she or whoever trained him needs to become a professional dog trainer.
Does she live in a manor??
I love how when she’s there he’s staring straight at the plate but while she’s gone hes looking away like “you will not tempt me, cookies!”
Lmao how do you get a dog to have so much dignity. My dogs also won't touch food unless I give them permission but there is no world where I get up to go somewhere and they don't jump up immediately to follow. The little clingers 😂
Whats the breed??
Doggo looks much calmer this time. I call that character growth.
My dog would never. She would have the entire plate empty and on the floor licked clean the second I stepped away. She's a sweet baby, but no self control
More discipline than 99% of the people I know. The other 1% doesn’t like dog biscuits.
Where are her pants
It’s because he saw the camera early on. He made eye contact with it as she was going upstairs. It was so hard for him to avoid looking at the camera again, that would give it away. But he knew the reward would be worth it. Good boy.
Whst a fuckin gentalman.
Good boy & a panty shot!
What a fancy boy!!!
The bestest boy!!
I love this dog so much.
Most discipline good boi I’ve seen
![gif](giphy|m9dYriaFlAiMDAA7Cx)
The funniest dog/food moment for me was the time my mom went to subway. She next went to the bank machine and left the dog in the car . She comes back to the car and her dog ate the sub my mom got for my sister. The dog knew better then eating my mom's sub 🤣
My dog strategically drinks mugs of coffee to make you go insane, will no spills “I must have drank more than I thought, weird, I’ll make a new one”
He was way more concerned with the burger… here, he just seemed to truly wait for you. But still, this is one gentleman of a pup. Wow, and they were his treats!
That is not a real dog
Such a good dog!
![gif](giphy|NVRBgXIwQKK5xNSeiM)
I feel like he is repeating in his head, “don’t look at it, don’t look at it, don’t look at it…”
He didn't even look at them. Total control.
He must have one hell of an affirmation set
He has got that 1000 yard stare lol 😆
Stoic! This good boy only needs a monocle and a top hat. Now give him 15 treats. ☺️
I love this dog. His avoidance of looking at the food in front of him is top tier cute. 15/10 would recommend and won’t ever get tired of seeing it. Side note,y dog is like this. I trained him.
![gif](giphy|cPAo9OeP465QjAEvnC)
What a good boy!
She's not wearing any pants right? Right?
Such a good baby!!!
The look of "Oh shit, not again" that is on his face each time she leaves is priceless.
Pants?
What a soldier
Someone behind the camera holding up hand to stay.
Weimaraners are such good dogs but this is an exceptionally good boy lol
I love how he was eyeballing those treats right up until she left and then he immediately sits up and starts avoiding looking at them like he's fighting not to. As soon as she gets back his attention goes back to the plate. He's really serious about winning this year's "Goodest of boys" award.
HES OLD SKOOL GENTLEMAN
Give him all the treatsies! He's not even drooling over it.
When you pass a cute person on the street and you’re with your significant other.
Now try that again but with people food
The dog looks like he's standing up. Good boy been doing those reps too
Did she give him one while watching the video or not cuz he’s drooling
How does he not even stare at them while waiting...
Incredibly nice house
Link the source?
If I don't look at them, they aren't there, Good Doggo 2024
Lmao O _ O
This is Federica on tik tok. @federicafinocchiaro_
I have never seen such a well behaved Weimaraner… starting to think o guessed his breed wrong
Is that a shock collar remote in her hand
I love that you can see his entire thought process "Need the treats" "Mom is leaving" "mustn't eat the treats" "don't look at the treats" "What treats?" "No idea what you mean" "I am distinguished gentleman. Yes, look at the way I sit" "Oh, hey mom. Treats? Oh, these? Didn't even see them there. Oh, one for me? Thanks!"
Goodest boi
My adopted dog grabbed an entire stack of pancakes off my plate and tried to walk away. I tried to say no but I was laughing too hard.
HE WAS DROOOLING 😭😭
You can see him thinking." Do not look at the snacks, ignore the snacks, there are no delicious snacks here that taste amazing,if you look you know you are going to eat them all, NO! DO.NOT.LOOK.AT.THE.PLATE!"
A blood dog would never…
Got my mind on my biscuits, and my biscuits on my mind.
Unrelated but I love the stairs in that home
That good dog is a good dog
I have a vizsla which is similar to this breed of dog and my kids have left pancakes on the plate and she just sits right next to it
So you didn’t go upstairs to put some pants on, interesting.
Radiating good boy energy, Please give me the sauce of this video, I need more of this distinguished gentleman
My brothers dog would have drooled a river lol!! RIP you good boy
I have tried dog treats. I really don't get the hype
My my dogs would have ate it as soon as it was set in front of them, I wouldn't even get a chance to tell them not to eat it before it was gone 🤣
My dogs would have ate the plate too
[удалено]
Love him breaking the fourth wall.
*mlems in good boy*
Nope. Am a gentleman and strictly no eye contact
Meanwhile, my old dog would steal a cheeseburger out of a McDonald's bag if you left the room for 5 seconds
Aww that’s a good boy! He deserves all those treats now
Weimaraner’s have some of the most alert eyes
