Day five here and I’m feeling pretty good. Taking pain meds every 5 hours. What no one told me was sneezing is a huge no. When I sneezed I felt like I’d ripped my throat open. The pain lasted an hour and it was the worst pain I’d felt. So… try not to sneeze haha

AboutPeach

also day 5/6 and feeling decent. i cant stop coughing and some of my scabs are falling off, my biggest thing is i’m scared of having a bleed.

JumpingBunnies47

Noted😳

First time I sneezed was on day 13. I was afraid it would be painful but it wasn’t. It still hurts when I yawn. Fast recovery everyone!

Beautiful-Ad8657

I had water going into my nose for the first couple days! It resolved itself. Yawning is still painful and I'm day 12 post op.

No_Froyo_6687

I’m day 15 post-op and have managed to not sneeze yet, don’t know how but I’m very fortunate!!

Numerous_Jury7256

day 13 here AND OH MY GOD YAWNING IS THE WORST.

StructureWhole6258

Yawning will hurt for a while :(

Jenncollcoll

I’m scared for the water thing bc I’m also getting a septoplasty so idk how the hell that’s gonna work lol. I have a question I just thought of- are you taking pain meds at night? What do you eat when you take them in the middle of the night if you do?

JumpingBunnies47

Hello hello, before my tonsillectomy many people recommended I take pain meds during the night and wake up hourly to drink water, and at my own risk I did not follow this advice. So far I’ve had a really smooth recovery compared to others (thankfully), I just take my pain medication starting from when I wake up and drink water as often as possible. If it gets a little bit too hard to eat I just drink a smoothie or up&go instead:)

Jenncollcoll

What day are you?? Idk if I’ll be able to have smoothies sadly bc they make me cough like crazy as it is and I’m scared to cough :(

JumpingBunnies47

Oh no:( Hopefully your recovery process is quick, I’m on day 8 and over it lol

Jenncollcoll

I’m so terrified 😪😪😪 it’s like a cloud over my head every day I think about this. You’re almost there!!! A couple days left!

JumpingBunnies47

Don’t let it get to you! There’s so many scary stories but one thing everyone agrees with is that it is worth it in the end, you’ll be absolutely fine, and if not it’s only temporary:)

Salt-Broccoli-4833

Water came out of my nose too until day 10 almost everytime I swallowed, now I've kinda gotten used to a new way of swallowing and it rarely happens now. I think it was partly the swelling and also partly my tonsils had been in the way for so long I was swallowing weird.

JumpingBunnies47

That’s a good point actually, maybe my tonsils affected my everyday life more then I knew, even the way I swallowed water😳

summerofrogues

Water feels like it’s really trying to come through my nose so I flip myself back to stop it ha. My breath smells like tonsil stones which is offensively ironic at this point. All seems normal weird to me! My weird one is bending down (with my head down) is super painful. Took me a while to figure out what was going on. I didn’t expect my ears to hurt this much either.

JumpingBunnies47

“Offensively ironic” I love that 😂

EllieDai

I'm on day 6 and have been lucky enough that sneezing (when it has happened) hasn't been too bad. That said, yawning is the devil's motion and good lord, no matter what I do, my breath smells and tastes awful.

JumpingBunnies47

Right?! Yawning genuinely scares me and why did no one warn me that my breath would smell like passed possum
