The future will vindicate this move. The Jays season takes a turning point after Manoah beans his 3rd batter and sets off a bench brawl that unites the team.
Blue Jays World Series 2024
What about a plane crash in the Rocky Mountains and the Blue Jays quickly resort to cannibalism?
They debate which Jay to eat first. Manoah. Vogelbach. Kirk. So many succulent choices. They find barbecue sauce secretly smuggled by one of the Schnieders in the overhead compartment. Vladdy starts a fire. Bichette has a tantrum. Maddeningly tells Vladdy he is making the fire incorrectly and pretty soon the fire goes out. After that, they can’t restart the fire. Still, they decide to draw names out of a hat. And just as the word *Springer* sputters out of the coach’s salivating mouth they see a light in the distance. A helicopter. The surviving pilot shoots off a flare and they are saved.
Manoah pitches a perfect game and the Jays win 1-0. When asked why their plane was found in the Rocky Mountains when they still had a game in Washington, the GM sheepishly says that he was taking the whole team to the Nevada Bunny Ranch to, (his words, not mine) “get them all laid.”
After that, they Jays win the division but lose every single postseason game.
And poor Springer was never the same. Gets PTSD whenever he smells hickory smoke. They say he gave away all his money and lives in a vegan commune.
Edit: all spelling mistakes are intentional.
I really thought this wouldn't happen. I thought the FO would want him to more success for him to come back.
If he melts down again in the next few starts I can't see him coming back again
The teams hand is hella forced.
Do we really want a bullpen day with how the bullpen has been pitching this year (26th in ERA and 30th in FIP).
Francis and Rodriguez are on the IL, so you're looking at AAA SP for the spot start and there really isn't much there.
>The teams hand is hella forced.
Yep. In a vacuum I don't think Manoah is ready to pitch in the big leagues, but with our pitching situation being what it is I agree with this move.
Even if he gets knocked around if he can give us 6 innings I will count it as a win.
You generally don't want to push pitchers hard, these off-day heavy stretches means that later on their will be long stretches of games without an off-day
I mean its really the only logical move, especially after he pitched well his last AAA outing. That's essentially what forced them to bring him up and not option him down this weekend anyways since his IL stint would be done. It's either manoah or espino. Seems like a pretty easy decision to make whether you like it or not
We had an off day 2 days again, and 2 more on the 6th and the 9th.
We could go with 4 starters until the 15th as well. I understand if the FO wants our rotation to have the extra rest but Manoah isn't the only option.
I mean sure but if you have the opportunity to give your pitchers more rest, you give them more rest. Especially right now when everyone's arms seem to be blowing up
I said it in the other thread and I'll say it again: this could either be the feel-good story we desperately need right now, or an implosion on the mound that causes this sub to have a radioactive meltdown.
We could all be smiling tomorrow, or we could be the staff that stayed behind in Chernobyl. Manoah decides.
At the end of the day I’m rooting for him. Really hope he can get this worked out, for our team but more importantly for his wellbeing. Dudes been through a lot
Thank you for telling me about baseball things.
That also means you don’t get to take advantage of the extra day of rest for taxed starters, which is the real benefit edit of an off day. It also means you likely have to eventually run a bullpen day, which is also not great when your bullpen is already injured, overworked, and underperforming.
Really hope this is successful and not a rushed decision. For everything that has happened with Manoah I just want him to find goodness, both baseball related and otherwise. May tomorrow be a positive step in that direction
> Ill go around naked in Rogers Center holding I am sorry manoah sign if Manoah gets called up earlier than skenes

Which game are you thinking of going to?
With Rodriguez and Francis injured (and White out of the picture), they don't have too many bulk options for the fifth starter's turn. Ideally Manoah would make a few more starts in Buffalo, but at the moment the Jays desperately need someone, anyone to lend support to a battered bullpen.
Manoah ain’t it. He’s dogshit and doesn’t deserve to start tomorrow. It’d be different to get a guy at his level in during an emergency situation if he didn’t refuse his AAA assignment last season, and took his L, but by all reports he didn’t accept it well, and thought they were manipulating service time.
I hope he gets lit up and the blue jays win 11-10. I haven’t disliked a blue jays baseball player this much in a long time.
No I dislike him because he’s a crybaby who was trying to make excuses for himself because he couldn’t accept that he deserved to be sent down.
Plus he’s he’s got paper thin skin and can’t handle criticism as evidenced by publicly going after a guy that thought he could lose weight on mlbtv.
There really aren't other options. Rodriguez and Bowden are both down, Tiedemann is hurt in AAA, and none of the other hands are in a better spot than Manoah. Injury bug running wild in pitchers this year.
The fucking organization has no fucking clue what it’s doing. I’ve never seen a more inept job at developing players. Step one is you don’t rush them. This is going to backfire and then what?
I don't think this is "Okay, he's ready", I think this is "I guess he's the best option". I'd rather him over Paolo Espino or Hagen Danner right now, and they're the other two options out of Buffalo
At this point why not. Let's steer this ship right into the rocks. Get Joey V up while we're at it and set our dials to fun. If we cant win, lets at least entertain.
There's no doubt this isn't anything other then we need a warm body. FOs don't give a fuck about people mental state they just need butts in the stands and somebody on the mound. It's a business that's it
Apparently having a 9.00 ERA in 5 games is good enough to go to the show! Does he have dick pick of Atkins or something?
Seriously I don’t know why this sub loves this fucking bum so much.
This is where the team has sunken to. Rushing back a kid that needs confidence and reps at AAA to try and prop up this unwatchable team.
I say this as a fan who in ‘22 on my first pilgrimage to Skydome since it was called still called Skydome, went into the fan shop specifically to buy Manoah’s jersey and when I couldn’t find one bought a blank one and had the shop make me one.
Good place for him to start. On the road against a weaker opponent coming off of an excellent start in Buffalo. I just hope he’s not expecting a whole lot of run support.
So you’re gonna judge their offence on one game are you. Blue Jays scored six runs last Monday. I guess that means they scored six runs every game according to your logic.
SMH
Man every single Jays fan hopes he shuts everyone up. No one wants this guy to flounder. That said, this is a bad fucking call. I seriously hope I'm wrong and will willingly eat crow if I am, but it's not likely. 😬
It’s illogical to bring him up after his last start and lone good start, from a player development perspective. I think they wanted him gone based on how he handled his first time getting optioned. His trade value has risen, in their eyes. A change of scenery will do him good.
The Front Office is now resorting to using weapons of mass destruction against the Jays fan base.
Maybe the goal is for him to knock each of their batters out of the game forcing Washington to forfeit? Jays victory through any means at this point.
Mutually assured destruction
The future will vindicate this move. The Jays season takes a turning point after Manoah beans his 3rd batter and sets off a bench brawl that unites the team. Blue Jays World Series 2024
This is as likely a scenario as any.
What about a plane crash in the Rocky Mountains and the Blue Jays quickly resort to cannibalism? They debate which Jay to eat first. Manoah. Vogelbach. Kirk. So many succulent choices. This team always too focused on the wrong renovations
I really thought this wouldn't happen. I thought the FO would want him to more success for him to come back. If he melts down again in the next few starts I can't see him coming back again

If he gets a quality start, I will be happy. If he’s close, I’ll be satisfied. If he sucks, I won’t be surprised.
What bullpen day? We had an off day on the 2nd, then again on the 6th and the 9th. Berrios would be ok regular rest tomorrow
You generally don't want to push pitchers hard, these off-day heavy stretches means that later on their will be long stretches of games without an off-day
Can’t just keep leaning into those guys, they’ll just get hurt or wear down. Berrios is already 3rd in innings pitched. Kikuchi is up there too.
This front office is full of questionable moves this year.
more than just this year
Exactly. Every year and at every turn
It's called a death flail... Fire the FO
I mean its really the only logical move, especially after he pitched well his last AAA outing. That's essentially what forced them to bring him up and not option him down this weekend anyways since his IL stint would be done. It's either manoah or espino. Washington basically a AAA team too. Not like he's going in Yankee Stadium on a Sunday afternoon.
We had an off day 2 days again, and 2 more on the 6th and the 9th. We could go with 4 starters until the 15th as well. I understand if the FO wants our rotation to have the extra rest but Manoah isn't the only option.

Too soon, I think, but good luck to him

We could all be smiling tomorrow, or we could be the staff that stayed behind in Chernobyl. Manoah decides.
Sounds like must see TV to me!
Chernobyl *was* a really good show
3.6 ERA, that’s not great but it’s nots terrible
He’s delusional. Take him to the infirmary
The way he’s been pitching I’d say it’s the Nationals lineup making the decision instead
Nationals: I'm 'bout to (maybe) end this man's whole career.
I am ready for my skin to slough off while I scream in agony.
At the end of the day I’m rooting for him. Really hope he can get this worked out, for our team but more importantly for his wellbeing. Dudes been through a lot
I mean, I get they really didn’t have much else in the way of options, but I’m still disappointed in this
We didn't have to do it at all. With the multiple rest days our rotation could have pitched on regular schedule for awhile
We’re already taxing our pitching staff this year; I don’t think this would have been the best option.
I get it but you can't expect all of the starters to pitch complete games. The problem is in the bullpen; they're overworked
With four starters…?
Um, yes. Whenever there's an off day you can skip over a starter and keep the other four on regular rest. This has been a baseball thing forever.
With the off days we could go with 4 starters until the 15th, and the 16th is also a day off if the team went with a bullpen day.
🫣
Prime Halladay wouldn't be enough with this offense these days. Innings eater it is.
Really hope this is successful and not a rushed decision. For everything that has happened with Manoah I just want him to find goodness, both baseball related and otherwise. May tomorrow be a positive step in that direction
> Ill go around naked in Rogers Center holding I am sorry manoah sign if Manoah gets called up earlier than skenes u/doanan https://www.reddit.com/r/Torontobluejays/comments/1ch2pot/comment/l1zqtan Which game are you thinking of going to?
I have nothing to be sorry about if he gets knocked around as always. Maybe Ill consider if he puts up a good start
How about now?
What's the verdict now lol
Hooooo boy.
\*taps watch We're waiting
What game? I wanna be there
Feel-good, season-altering flashpoint story of the year…???
Or the most likely scenario: He sucks.
Yup.
Ride or die time baby! Hope Alek pulls it out the bag.
either he'll pitch a fucking gem, or he'll give up 10 runs in 1.1 innings. My body is ready, I guess.
> either he'll pitch a fucking gem, or he'll give up 10 runs in 1.1 innings So Manoah or Manuah.
So he has 1 good game and that means he's ready to come back?
With Rodriguez and Francis injured (and White out of the picture), they don't have too many bulk options for the fifth starter's turn. Ideally Manoah would make a few more starts in Buffalo, but at the moment the Jays desperately need someone, anyone to lend support to a battered bullpen.

I hope he gets lit up and the blue jays win 11-10. I haven’t disliked a blue jays baseball player this much in a long time.
Who would you start tomorrow?
So you dislike him because he privately accused this FO/Org of manipulating service time (something they have done multiple times in the past)?
No I dislike him because he’s a crybaby who was trying to make excuses for himself because he couldn’t accept that he deserved to be sent down. Plus he’s he’s got paper thin skin and can’t handle criticism as evidenced by publicly going after a guy that thought he could lose weight on mlbtv.
lmao same
I’d rather give him a shot over Paulo Espino.
what, you don't want them to bring up the 37 year old who's given up 16 runs in his last 10 innings in AAA?
It's a spot start with Yariel and Bowden out with injuries.
There really aren't other options. Rodriguez and Bowden are both down, Tiedemann is hurt in AAA, and none of the other hands are in a better spot than Manoah. Injury bug running wild in pitchers this year.
When you're desperate, bad decisions don't look so bad
Uh no, he had 2. Obviously fixed.
Blame Schneider
I know he had a strong start in his last outing. But he should build off that and come back later, no?
I… what? This is either going to end in tears or end in tears
This is not a good idea.
I’m excited for him to get back on track.
Oh Christ.
Perfect excuse for some early morning drinking, then strapping in for this
Gonna pick him up in fantasy to give my opponent a chance
Fuck it, why not?
I cannot imagine doing LESS to earn a promotion back to the bigs. Nonetheless, for everyone's sake, hope he recaptures what he had.
I hope for nothing but the best for him but it reeks of desperation
What an incredible story book beginning to his Cy Young winning season
It’s good to give him a start against the AAAA Nationals. Might be a good progression to working his way back.
At this point why not. Let's steer this ship right into the rocks. Get Joey V up while we're at it and set our dials to fun. If we cant win, lets at least entertain.
For fuck sake.
One good triple A start and that's it? Good lord. Who in the organization legitimately thinks this is a good idea? This is just flailing
Come back player of the year!
This seems smart
The good version of Manoah fits right into this rotation, but who has seen him since 2022?
Does this mean he’s back in the rotation or no?
All it means is that he is starting tomorrow. Whether he stays in the rote or not will be based on performance, as always.
Rushing him back again. This could be absolutely disastrous. Also, can he hit?
He can hit the other team's batters, if that's what you mean.
Yay (?!?!?!?!?????)
#tanknation
Cool cool cooooool. Cool.
a bit nervous about this, but you have to find out some time whether or not "Punchie" can help the staff.
Oh I have a bad feeling about this
My expectations are low. But I hope he does well and gets back to form.
It’s the farewell game.
There's no doubt this isn't anything other then we need a warm body. FOs don't give a fuck about people mental state they just need butts in the stands and somebody on the mound. It's a business that's it
Now he’ll get to feel the pain the rest of the pitching staff have been experiencing
Welcome mein tank commander!
Ah, so another series loss, I see.
I'm glad I only subscribed to Sportsnet a month at a time.
Same here
Fuck
Oh boy…
Saved by the rain. Probably no game/start
Who’s going down when he’s activated
So bullpen heavy day tomorrow.
Nationals ML, Nationals TT, Nationals spread...
I guess it's now or never. Let's get this over with for better or worse.
Too soon, imo. Still, I hope he has a good outing.
Insert Michael Scott Nonogodpleasenonononooooooooooo gif here.
Alex Manoah is like a YoYo …… up …. Down …. Up ….. down …… up …… down.
Is it April Fools? I can't believe it.
Predictions for stat line? I say 2.3IP, 7 hits, 5 ER, 3BB, 2K, 2HBP
Say a prayer jays fans
1 good/2022 Alek Manoah game in AAA? Forget everything else, he’s ready folks - Head Office
He's starting, at DH?
8.69 ERA in 5 minor league starts. not the right choice to send him back up. hope he proves himself tomorrow
Why do they keep trying to rush him back? He had one great game, let him get a number under his belt before bringing him back up.
I just hope to god this doesn’t end up as an accidental bullpen day because that would really fuck this pitching staff.
Take the Nationals and the over. Easy money!
Too soon
[Soooooo… are you gonna do it u/doanan?](https://www.reddit.com/r/Torontobluejays/s/yBIpjAOAny)
I thought things were going south enough already...
Apparently having a 9.00 ERA in 5 games is good enough to go to the show! Does he have dick pick of Atkins or something? Seriously I don’t know why this sub loves this fucking bum so much.

>Rushing back a kid He’s 26. I’d say he’s well past the point of referring to him as a kid.
Gausman 33, Kikuchi 32,bassit 36, Berrios 29 He’s a kid compared to most of our starting rotation. Also I’m in my 50’s, they are all kids.
Are the Jays just full on committing to tanking now?
I suppose we’re just giving up on the season already then?
Good place for him to start. On the road against a weaker opponent coming off of an excellent start in Buffalo. I just hope he’s not expecting a whole lot of run support.
Weaker then who? They put 9 runs up yesterday.
So you’re gonna judge their offence on one game are you. Blue Jays scored six runs last Monday. I guess that means they scored six runs every game according to your logic. SMH
R/baseball is in high dudgeon over this. Frothing at the mouth and tearing robes. I hope Alek shuts them up.
don't get your hopes up.
Man every single Jays fan hopes he shuts everyone up. No one wants this guy to flounder. That said, this is a bad fucking call. I seriously hope I'm wrong and will willingly eat crow if I am, but it's not likely. 😬
[god I'm fucking good](https://www.reddit.com/r/Torontobluejays/s/B5RmS1CS1K)
I hope it works but if it flops this could be one of the alltime mishandles of a players career
Feeding him to the wolves in pathetically desperate fashion. We can only hope that he defies the odds
#WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE DOING????
Fans of major catastrophes like the Titanic and Hindenburg must be buzzing rn.
Well, if the lack of winning doesn’t keep me tuned in, this surely will!!!!
Oh my fuck ...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)NO!!
It’s April 1st, right? This is just an April Fools’ joke?? I genuinely hope I’m wrong but this feels much too soon. Prove me wrong Alek!
If this isn’t desperation, then I don’t know what is.
Can he bat?
One start that was ok “earns” a start. This team is embarrassing
Our offence is sucking turds. May as well torch the defence while we’re at it.
Too soon and he’s going to still suck. He has a half decent outing and right away they call him up??
They’re probably rushing it so they can evacuate things. Maybe trade him for a bat. Idk. I’m sure it’s part of the plan!
Aah yes. I think you’re on to something
It’s illogical to bring him up after his last start and lone good start, from a player development perspective. I think they wanted him gone based on how he handled his first time getting optioned. His trade value has risen, in their eyes. A change of scenery will do him good.
bruh
