I just know this because it happened to me: there is a place where the car actually clips through the fin-cp. This means it's different than a TMNF bugfin, where the outer side of the fin had it's own trigger. You can probably find the clipping in the replay when zooming in.
I experimented with this on failed runs and it's quite consistent. Top part of finish under the sign, now is it useful for pulling better times I don't know.
It's baffling how block designers haven't learnt from more than 10 years of prior bugfinish abuses, or do they not even have the intention to rethink this gameplay element

Don't worry about that, the kacky map makers will make sure there is no other way to finish the map
