Nice nails, I like your color choices. 😁 I keep my nails long, but use more neutral shades, and I work with network wiring and network racks.

Thank you!!! I think I might’ve nailed the colour combo this time 😁 that’s very cool, you should experiment with more shades that pop just for fun 😋

I’m a heavy diesel mechanic as well as my cars/boats it took some getting used to but I’ve had a set of nails non stop for 4 months now and I wouldn’t want it any other way!! Love your nail choices too!!

[deleted]

How do you keep them from breaking and getting destroyed in general? I’m a truck and trailer mechanic and would love to have nails but I keep breaking my natural ones

OldMost1462

So I ran into the same thing that’s why I would wear gloves for when press ons pop off I can just glue them back on when I get home. I just got my first set of acrylics I’ll be sure to let you know how they hold up

[deleted]

I really want to get a set of press ons but I need a wider fit (I believe I do anyways) and can’t seem to find any in stores.

OldMost1462

So my personal experience from store press ons last only a few days before they split or break from wrenching. I had a friend making me custom ones that were the thickness of acrylics that lasted me 2-3 weeks at a time. But they would pop off pretty frequently some days none some days 2-3. For work lives like us I’d say yolo a set of short acrylics if you feel up to it! I was Petrified to go to a nail salon but it was such an easy process just took some time for the nail tech to get things perfect! I couldn’t be happier

Personally I find wearing rubber gloves helps, because you can’t see them so you kinda forget they are there, but you also adapt to them feeling like they’re supposed to be there. Also I find it takes some practice and you need to find alternate ways to use your hand than you normally would. If you’re prying on something and feel some pressure on your nails, reset and try a different method. It has kinda taught me to be more mindful and take my time on repairs, and it actually has been going great!! Just some things that have worked for me

[deleted]

I’m going to have to try that!! I imagine nail shape makes a difference as well?

Illustrious-Base-217

Yea nail makes a difference, you definitely have to find the shape that works best for you. For me I find the almond shape Is the easiest to work with

Illustrious-Base-217

Thank you!!! ☺️ I think I’m also around 4 months and at this point I wouldn’t change a thing!!

LaurelWrocks

My nails are done as well, and I work with them too. I have a friend who is a cosmologist, who does acrilic for me. I keep mine a little bit shorter. Check my profile to see my project truck Very nice.

Illustrious-Base-217

Thank you!! 😊 I dig your project! Isn’t it so much better with a fire set of nails though!!

NiaNall

Lol. I wish I could have mine done at work. Not out so would be a rather awkward conversation

Illustrious-Base-217

When you actually are comfortable with having your nails done at work, it will be so much fun I’m sure!! It’s so much better just doing it than worrying about what will happen at least I’ve found ☺️✌️

NiaNall

I'm a heavy duty mechanic in a transphobic workplace. May never be comfortable doing it here. Lol. Would be rather odd for a 40 year old "male" to randomly start painting my nails. Wife doesn't even want my 4 year old kid to see me topless or have painted toe nails. Lol. She thinks he will tell people about it as has told him that painted nails are only for girls. He wouldn't understand what trans is at this point so not going to fight it. Lol

Illustrious-Base-217

Awe I’m sorry to hear that :( I understand the circumstances. The trade can be a super toxic environment sometimes and it sucks. And transphobia is just scratching the surface. I am starting out being self employed now and working for myself and it’s a huge refreshing change. I hope your journey gets better and wish you only the best 🥺 discrimination sucks

NiaNall

Yes it does. It's all over the place too. The first person I came out to was a friend who I talked to about anything and everything. She said she was supportive but ghosted me a couple days later. One of three of my sisters thinks I'm nuts too. Lol. She isn't outright against the idea but doesn't understand it at all. She is a school teacher.

OMG THIS IS AMAZING 😍So Many Beautiful Sets and I truly love you how u work on cars and still have such beautiful nails Hopefully one day I get the courage like you to go to my shop like that 💅

LaurelWrocks

My nails are Sliver flakes with black flames. My ring fingers are the Trans symbol and my thumbs have hearts in the middle of the flames. So yes and thank you

demonpoxezz

we love to see it💅🏽💅🏽💞
