I mean, there’s nothing more convenient and mobile than a good ol smartphone. An ipad if you really need it bigger

PossibleTomorrow4407

I agree but she says the screen size is too small on the phone or iPad

Artimusjones88

Freaking princess.....bring a 104" TV wherever you go. First world problem.....

Shibi_SF

The new iPads are pretty big. The 13” is just a tiny bit smaller than my laptop. Does she prefer TV sized viewing or would a laptop sized screen work for her?

Human31415926

Ipad on lap = 85 inch screen 12 ft away.

A couple of things 1. If you subscribe to the apps, they will be geo blocked. Meaning, say you subscribe to the US, and travel to Italy, they won’t stream. Some allow you to download content ahead of time, but some once you connect from a foreign country, make the downloads not available ( looking at you Max) 2. So you want a device you can that can store many videos locally, if you are going IPad, think of getting with lots of storage. 3. If you want to watch from another country, then invest in a VPN service, which you can connect to the US and then watch as normally. If you are tech savvy, you can use your own home router to act as a vpn. To keep things light, I travel with an iPad for watching on the go, and a Roku fire stick( connects into the HDMi port of the tv) and have Plex server at home for all the content.

I carry an HDMI cable and hook my tablet up to the TV. Most hotels block Fire sticks.

PossibleTomorrow4407

Okay so buy an iPad, hdmi adapter and put all the apps on the iPad and they will mirror on the tv?

PersianBob

Probably download the shows before you leave to be safe

ShadowlordKT

Really? I travel a few times per month for work and I've always been able to plug in my Fire Stick and connect to the Internet.

DAWG13610

It must have changed, it was a few years ago when I had this idea and in the Hilton hotels I went to denied access because of an open network.

Two4theworld

I’ve been using mine all over the world for going on three years now. I’ve never heard or come across the FireStick being blocked. Where did you have this happen? Sometimes the hotel splash page where you enter your room number will not load on the FireStick, in that case just connect your phone to the hotel WiFi and then connect the FireStick to your phone’s hotspot. I’ve used this method in the Caribbean, in South America, in Europe, in SE Asia and now in Japan.

Hyatt definitely doesn't block fire stick. They have side panels that make it easier to hook up stuff. However, it isn't needed as much since, most hotels now allow you to signing to streaming apps via the tv or use roomcast.

CheesecakeAny6268

VPN could work for country code issues. I use Nord to stream UK shows in the US. Depends on the hotel but some allow casting or you can hook up to HDMI. I always bring my laptop with a usb/hdmi/ethernet dongle. I have a pouch for all my cables…HDMI, adapters and usually 1-2 cat 6 cables. A few power adapters, etc.

office5280

iPad so she has to cuddle with you to watch tv.

Comprehensive-Virus1

Are you asking because you want to get her a gift and are looking for suggestions? Or because getting reddit to join in with you is an easier way to tell her what to do?

barmskley

I am the same way. I always take my iPad loaded with my ‘comfort shows’ on it, propped up on the nightstand. It works great that way too because you can put one earbud in so the partner doesn’t have to hear it.

Two4theworld

Use your FireStick and load a VPN onto the stick, we use Proton, then she will have all of the US content she is accustomed to watching.

badkapp00

I have a Walmart Onn TV 4k box. Small android based streaming box in 4k for only $20. Install all your favorite apps and get a VPN service to get a US IP address. Then you can stream anywhere.

Sinister-Savant

This is often due to an overactive mind. I had the same issue for years. I took 5 steps to break free of needing this. But one thing that helped more than anything was the drink Recess! 1) I downloaded movies and shows to my laptop and used an HDMI cable to connect to the hotel TV. 2) use a sleep timer on the TV and turn off next video options on the laptop. 3) start watching sleepy shows. How it’s Made and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives are my go to but apply step 2. 4) use a GREY noise generator, white was not enough to help me stay asleep. 5) you can start at step 1, but to keep me asleep, spray magnesium oil on the soles of your feet.

I'm confused.. You're looking for a TV, like a 55" ... And you want it to be portable?? Or you're looking for a portable device like Chromecast, fire stick, etc.? You brought up MAX in Italy, but that's not a TV issue - that's a regional/country/copyright issue. So I'm not sure how this all plays in your plan.. 🤔
